Minecraft Account Name: Roguealicious How old are you?:18 Time-Zone: GMT(UK) Have you read, understood and agreed to the rules?: Yes I have. What previous experience have you had in role-playing?: Not much, but I have played many games with RPG elements. How did you hear about the the Lord of the Craft?: PotatoOrgy and BrenyBeast from youtube did a few videos on LotC a long time ago, that’s where I first discovered it. Link any applications that you have previously made for the server: http://www.lordofthecraft.net/forum/index.php?/topic/94191-humanrogualicious/ Have you posted this application on the Minecraft Forum? If not, then please do so (link above): I have. Have you read the Human lore, and shall you ensure you make use of it and follow it in your biography?: Yes I have. Definitions In your own words define the following terms. Do not take any definitions from elsewhere!: Role-playing: Playing a game that requires the player to put themselves in the shoes of their character. Adopt the personality and morals of their character. Talk like them, walk like them. Act out the role their character plays in the game world. Meta-gaming: Performing character actions or making character choices based on information that they would not realistically have at the time of making said decision. For example, knowing a characters name before they introduce themselves because you read it in the game chat OOC. You wouldn’t be able to call them by their name until they introduce themselves, because when a person speaks, you don’t instantly know their name, nor do they begin by speaking “James Smith said blahblablah…” Power-emoting: Forcing the results of your own actions, without giving them a chance to respond. For example: Hitting, or stealing from another player. Generally disliked by role-players. In-Character Information: Complete the following biography on your character: Full Name: Tiana Gellantara Current Age: 19 Sub-race (if any): Northerner Past / History (include childhood, major-events, etc. 2+ paragraphs long): Tiana lived a simple life on her small family farm east of Kingston with her father, Christofar. Her mother, who tragically died during childbirth, left young Tiana without a permanent female role model. As a result Tiana often enjoyed playing with the boys from nearby Kingston. They would spend hours upon hours each day pretending that they were noble knights fighting off bandits and evil wizards, something that she would later aspire to do for real. The majority of Tiana’s childhood was very settled and she enjoyed herself, always willing to help out her father. During her 11th year upon this world, whilst at the market one day selling some of their new lambs, her father fell into an argument with a nasty fellow over the price. Christofar and the man got into a shouting match which very quickly turned sour. Her father was left battered and bruised by his stall, as a guard dragged the assailant away. A young elf, passing through from Malinor helped Tiana bring her father home. Christofar was bedridden for 4 days, slipping in and out of conciousness before he finally passed away in his sleep from bleeding on the inside. Tiana was now an orphan. Only 11 years old and on her own in the world, she couldn’t maintain her father’s farm, and in just a few weeks after her father’s tragic death, Tiana found herself homeless and sleeping rough. Tiana spent the next few years of her life travelling between towns, trying to find work. Sadly there was rarely any to be had. At 17, she had made her way to the capital city of the Kingdom of Renatus, Abresi, where she managed to find work at an inn, where she was allowed to live for the duration of her employment. Finally, she had a roof over her head and regular hot meals in her belly. Life was looking up. This life was not destined to last forever though. Some people might see prison as an awful place full of awful people, punished for the crimes they committed. Not Tiana though. She saw this as an opportunity. Locked away for 2 years after being wrongfully accused of stealing a patron’s coinpurse from the bar, she had plenty of time to reflect on the decisions she had made and the life that she had led. On her 18th birthday, locked up in her cell, she made a vow. She was not going to let anybody walk over her again. She was going to turn her life around and make something of herself. She vowed that on the day she was released, she would go out into the world and train in combat. She wanted to protect people from crime. So that’s just what she did. She managed to find work tending fields on a small farm, and with her wages she paid a blacksmith to teach her the basics of handling a sword. That brings us to today, Tiana, 6 months free, some basic combat knowledge under her belt, and all the hope in the world. Ready to join the military, the town guard, anything that would let her protect the innocent, so that one day, she might even work her way up to knighthood! Ambitions for the Future: Tiana wishes to one day prove herself worthy enough of knighthood. Personality: A confident but withdrawn young women that is generally friendly and lives by the philosophy “Treat others how you yourself expect to be treated”. Honest, but slow to trust others. Tiana hates injustice. Skills: Tiana has a basic understanding of how to wield a sword. Tiana is also proficient in staying out of sight and sneaking. A skill she picked up during her time on the streets. It might be useful to her one day. Appearance (this must include an in-game screenshot of your skin): A pale skinned young women with green eyes and light brown hair, tied back in a ponytail and covering the right side of her face. Not a very elegant young woman, usually wearing some rough grey woollen clothing, she never did like dresses. http://img10.imageshack.us/img10/7084/88uc.png Any other details you wish to share about your character: Open-Response-Questions Each question in this section must be answered with a minimum of one paragraph which must describe theevent in full. Please be as descriptive as possible and do not break character or lore at any point. 1. Whilst in the mighty human capital you notice a dark-clothed figure stealthily making his way towards the Emperor’s palace - he is clearly up to no good. There are guards within shouting distance - what do you do? Answer: Approach the guards and alert them of the suspicious figure. Taking close attention not to make the figure aware that I am alerting the guards, for my own safety. Who knows what intentions he has or potential weapons hidden away. Whilst standing at a short distance, I would watch the situation unfold. The figure, when stopped by the guards, bolts off down a side alley. I take off in hot pursuit with the guards. I know these streets better than anyone. Nipping down a couple of streets and passages I manage to cut off the figures escape. I draw my sword and stop him from getting past me. The guards appear from around a corner, now pinned between myself and the law, with nowhere to run, he takes his own life. I sense this goes deeper than I initially thought. The guards take the body away, so that they might hope to identify the man or figure out who he worked for. 2. Whilst wandering in the deep oak forest you come across a large clearing, in which sits a small cobbled cottage. Outside it stands an unstable old man armed with a small iron blade, surrounded by two heavily armed bandits - they appear to be threatening him. You are armed with leather armour and an iron longsword, how do you react? Answer: Drawing my sword, I approach the situaton, keeping a swords length distance between myself and the bandits at all times. There’s no use trying to save the old man if I get myself killed foolishly. I confront them about their business with the old man. Bandit1: “He owes us protection money!” Tiana:”Oh, and who is it you’re protecting him from?” Bandit2: “Us.” *bandit2 raises his sword* A fight ensues, I block, strike, dodge. The bandits are tough, but poorly skilled. I slay the first one, at the sight of the body the second bandit takes off into the woods. In the chaos, the old man had been knocked down. I run over to see if he’s okay. I notice blood and a blade cut along his side, unfortuneately he was already dead. I bury the man beside his home, and proceed to burn it down, so as to keep the bandits from looting it.3. You are standing within the mighty human capital when you notice a small man standing behind a colourful stall. You approach the stall and notice that the man is selling a variety of general goods - he says that he is selling just about anything and that he has no set prices. He is willing to allow you to haggle and choose prices. What do you do? (Explain: your haggling, items of choice and the discussion that happens). Answer: I’d begin by asking him if he’s travelled from somewhere, if so ask him how the journey was and if he saw or heard anything interesting. Tiana: “Hey there, have you travelled far today for this market?” Trader: “Why yes ma’am, are you interested in anything I have available?” Tiana: “I am, yes. I’m looking to stock up on food and water, but did you notice anything interesting on your journey?” This would build up a friendly first impression, that might give me an advantage in getting an answer for my next question, “Where did he acquire his stock?” because having no set prices and willing to haggle makes me wonder that maybe he’s trying to get a quick sale, get rid of the items as fast as he can as they might be stolen. It all depends really on how he responds to my initial chit-chat. If he seems like an honest man, then I would just offer up a few coins for some water and food and be on my way. Tiana: “And where exactly did you acquire all of your wares?” Trader: “Honest trade in other towns on my journey. I tend to take a set route from here in Abresi, down to the dwarven capitol of Kal’Azgoth, via the great forests of Malinor. You’d wouldn’t be surprised to hear that I quickly run out of axes once I hit the dwarven borders.” Tiana:”I see, that sounds like quite the route. I’ll be sure to keep an eye out for you on the road during my travels. How about 5 minas for 2 of those salted pork chops and a canteen of water?” Trader: “That seems reasonable.” *Tiana hands over the coins and places the pork in her backpack, and ties the canteen to her belt. Tiana: “Thank you, I’ll be on my way now. Good day.” *Tiana smiles and wanders off through town.
ski_king3 0 Share Posted August 9, 2013 Congratulations, glad to see you made the necessary changes. One thing I'd note, though, your meta-gaming definition was a bit iffy. Your example did clarify it, but I'd advise looking over the definition another time, just to be safe. I would also recommend visiting the following links to make yourself a bit more knowledgeable about the server and roleplay in general: http://www.lordofthecraft.net/wiki/index.php?title=The_Ancient_History - The Ancient History http://www.lordofthecraft.net/forum/index.php?/topic/83914-lotc-official-rp-vs-rpg-why-your-character-is-not-perfect/ - Why Your Character Is Not Perfect http://www.lordofthecraft.net/forum/index.php?/topic/77226-lotc-official-guide-to-not-getting-yourself-banned-within-your-first-month-of-playing/ - How to Not Get Banned http://www.lordofthecraft.net/forum/index.php?/topic/49355-the-lord-of-the-craft-staff-list/ - Our Staff I look forward to seeing you on the server!
