Addled 62 Share Posted August 18, 2013 ~Lore~ Pride Vanjir began during the changes that occurred within Kharajyr society. All too quickly, the Kharajyr were faced with conflicting ideals regarding welcoming the apes to their island, trusting the unfamiliar entities that lived so far away from their isle. Along with this, the elimination of the Aelkos ranks and the sudden attacks of apes on the island combined to create a confusing and overall daunting view of the future. Kharajyr from all walks of life, unhappy with what they saw the future to be, came together to form Pride Vanjir. Their goal was simple and focused; preservation of their race’s traditions and way of life. The members of the pride worked together to further the strength of their peers, improve their standing in society and, by extension, increase the pride’s survivability. The thought process of the members were to create a pride with incredible strength and as a result, large influence. Pride Vanjir values strength and power above all else. It is strongly encouraged that each pride members be strong enough to hold their own on a fight with another Kharajyr, no matter the gender or age. The cubs of the Vanjir are trained well so that they may easily pass their trails and become full members of the Pride as soon as possible. Pride Vanjir consists of warriors who banded together to resist the changes that were occurring in tradition and structure within the Kharajyr. This pride, born by a common goal and strengthened by the determination of its members, was able to properly accomplish its objectives and prevent major and, in their eyes, catastrophic change from affecting the island. Meanwhile in Pride Dran’tul, Tarkin rose and challenged the Mane of Dran’tul for control of the pride. The new pride, Pride Vanjir, has risen from the broken remains of Dran’tul and other noble warriors seeking to restore the power and prestige of the Kharajyr. ~Beliefs~ Strong to the roots of the Vanjir pride, strength is seen as a major deciding factor in a Kharajyr’s credibility. Those who are strong are believed to be more fit to lead and therefore be listened to. Both male and female Kharajyr are expected to be strong individuals or, at the very least, have know-how regarding strategy and what is necessary to fight. Strategists, that being those Kharajyr who are strong mentally rather than physically, are valuable as well but aren't exceptions to the overall idea of strength as they will still be upheld to the same standards as all other pride members. With certain views regarding apes and their welcome changing recently, the Vanjir pride has remained strangely oblivious to the new ideas. The pride continues to perceive apes as dangerous outsiders and though they might not show it immediately, trust with those who live so far away does not, if it will at all, come easily. With this distrust, comes their ideas that the Kharajyr are better off staying on the island, safely away from any corruption that the apes may bring, and viceversa, the apes are better off living on their own land rather than spreading to theirs. Religion is incredibly important to the members of Vanjir. They are taught at young ages to listen to the words of Metztli and follow her words as law. As a result, the Tlatanni and those who Metztli uses to speak to the Kharajyr are to be respected. Violation of Metztli’s word is an unheard of offense among the Vanjir and those who do disobey her word are punished. It is not uncommon for those in the Vanjir to act out in the name of Metztli, be it hunting or protecting a tradition that is about to be changed. ~Structure~ Manes Pride Vanjir’s leadership consists of three pride manes - the strongest members of the pride. It is through combat that the pride manes earn their position as leaders of the pride. Any member of the pride that has been within it for at least one Elven month may challenge one of the current manes to combat. The winner would take the place of the defeated mane. All decisions regarding the pride will be made by the three manes through discussion and a vote. There must be a majority vote to decide upon any matter brought up for consideration and discussion before the manes. Mane Council These are picked by the Manes to advise them in decision making but hold no vote. Council positions are often temporarily created to serve a certain purpose such as tournament organizers or ‘lieutenants’ of sorts for military actions. The Councilors are intended to be trustworthy individuals, though this can obviously change as quick as a Kha’s state of mind. The Councillors are an optional part of the Vanjir pride and can be compared to the Council that the Empire has in place. Priests Like the Priests in the Empire, they are seen as vessels of Metztli. They are responsible for giving the Mane and his Paws guidance. They are at relatively the same rank as the Military Kha, being a bit higher than them due to their closeness with Metztli and religion. Priests are supposed to give all the Kharajyr guidance on what the appropriate kind of action would be in any difficult situation. They can also be teachers of Metztli and her mysterious ways. Military Kha The Kharajyr who work in the Military are at relatively, the same rank as the priests due to the importance of strength in the pride however, this does not mean that there can be any disrespect toward Priests nor can the Priests disrespect any of the Military Kharajyr. They work as a unit, often working together to come to a common goal on how they go about their work. These Kharajyr are what many may think to be the warriors of the pride. With that image in mind, the Military Kharajyr are expected to be physically fit and battle savvy. Working Kha Kharajyr who have the intention of working and have a job but are not in the military or are distinguished priest. This rank may include those who are intending to work in the military or be a priest but have not yet been graduated or acknowledged by their teachers yet (instead of being marked as unemployed students fit into this rank). Unemployed Kharajyr The Kharajyr who do not have a job and overall, have no intention of working. Cubs and Kittens The children of the Kharajr within a pride. The young members below the age of 15 who have not yet passed their trials. ~Members~ Manes Do’Zhadaar ((SirSmithers)) Do’Tarkin ((Baronvo)) Ja’Lorei ((Re_addled)) Military Kha Do’Valawn ((Re_addled)) Do'Vaca ((BrandNewKitten)) Do'Vra'Zhix ((ghskilla)) Unemployed Kha Ri'Dato ((freema5)) Working Kha Sa’Jujan ((kim78717)) ~Recruitment~ To join the pride, simply talk to one of the manes.
