Magiik 20 Share Posted August 31, 2013 Alright, despite what the title may say, this does have something to do with LoTC. I keep a few different minecraft back-ups with assorted mods. Some are capable of going on most servers, like LoTC, and others I try to avoid because of strict "no mod" rules. Recently, I've been having trouble switching out my .minecraft folders from a modded one to one that's more LoTC-friendly. I get a message saying "The action can't be completed because the folder or a file in it is open in another program." This is, in fact, entirely untrue. I have done complete restarts and found no files or folders open. I did a google search about it and found information that wasn't helpful. So, I decided to come to you guys for assistance. First: Would it cause any problems if I connected with a client that had Mo' Creatures, Single Player Commands, GUI API, CustomMobSpawner, and Minecraft Forge installed? Because those are the mods that I have and I am incapable of switching or deleting the .minecraft folder. Second: If you do know something about this problem, I could use a little assistance. I am running a laptop with windows 7, though I don't know much more useful information than that. Thanks. I hope I can get some help with this, because I don't want to be locked off of LoTC due to a crazy problem. Oh, and I hope this is in the right section. -Mr. Magiik Al
༺ Ben ༻ 38 Share Posted August 31, 2013 Are you unable to completely delete your ".minecraft" folder without getting the error you mentioned above? Also, do you have Minecraft in something such as a "RamDisk" partition and so on or is it in the default folder?
Magiik 20 Author Share Posted August 31, 2013 It is in the default (Roaming) folder. I can't delete or move the .minecraft folder without getting that error message. I was capable of copying it, so I have a back-up. If it comes to completely deleting it, I'm now prepared for it.
༺ Ben ༻ 38 Share Posted August 31, 2013 The easiest thing to do would be to completely delete the .minecraft folder considering you have a backup. I don't have the slightest clue to what program was using files from your .minecraft folder.
Magiik 20 Author Share Posted August 31, 2013 That's the thing, though. I can't delete it. That error message always comes up and stops me. It just won't let me. Unless there's another way to delete it that I don't know of, which is likely.
༺ Ben ༻ 38 Share Posted August 31, 2013 My apologies, I read that wrong (It's 3:30am). When you go into task manager, you can do this by pressing Ctrl + Shift + Escape, do you see "javaw.exe"? If so right click it and select "End Process Tree" and then attempt to delete your .minecraft folder.
Magiik 20 Author Share Posted August 31, 2013 I tried that, too. There's no javaw.exe. Which means that there's nothing to stop. It also tells nothing about any programs that could possibly be running. Oh, and I totally understand. It's not that late (early?) here, but it's still pretty late. SparehoeCakes 547 Share Posted August 31, 2013 Open the file browser, Windows explorer, and force close that process. It does make your start bar and icons go away for a few seconds until your computer restarts the process, but maybe your computer is thinking you have that folder open elsewhere are something like that. And those mods that you listen are okay, I'd bet. I mean, the don't really give you any sort of advantage. And forge is like modloader, so that's fine. The only one I'm unsure what is does it he MobSpawner one, but I'm imagining you'd been OP or something to use that does it doesn't really matter. ༺ Ben ༻ 38 Share Posted September 1, 2013 Go into your task manager by pressing Ctrl + Shift + Escape at the same time. Could you then go into full screen and take a screenshot for me as so I can see everything which is running.
Magiik 20 Author Share Posted September 1, 2013 I didn't know what you wanted a screenshot of, so I took two. It is exactly the conditions I used previously. The black rectangle is covering my name, which I choose to keep to myself. I also tried restarting windows explorer and I still had the problem. Also, I guess I'll give logging on a shot. The custommobspawner is, as far as I know, a support mod for Mo' Creatures and other mods that introduce new mobs.
༺ Ben ༻ 38 Share Posted September 1, 2013 Right click on "jusched.exe" and click "End Process Tree", once that is done attempt to delete your .minecraft.
Magiik 20 Author Share Posted September 1, 2013 It didn't work, but Sparehoe was right. It didn't seem to cause any problems when I did a test log on. So, I'll stick with that. Thanks for your help, though. I guess I just edit this with a [resolved] or something?
