The Childhood Of Marcus

It wasn't known to much, that was, on one day a baby Stolistes was born. It was a silent day, a lonely day when it happened, with only one or two Stolistes present. The baby's cries echoed around the empty fields of the County de Stolistes, as he sought the warmth of his mother. He was pressed into her chest, maybe the most memorable day of Marcus.

As Marcus grew up, he often felt that he was set for destiny, a great glorious path. From a young age, he thought of castles, knights, kings and queens, all that glamour. But unlike other boys, who wished to excel in swordsmanship, Marcus thought of politics and diplomacy. He often snatched and peeked the letters that was delivered to his aunt Amber. He loved the constant change in politics, how Kings and Dukes fought for power. He liked the whole concept, to a degree he had understood the whole system at the age of 6. Not only did he sit, cross legged at the library, looking through the old drafts of edicts made by his grandfather Alexander, he often retrieved the newest copies from the aviary, written by Tuv Goldman. Every morning, he would dress himself, rubbing his eyes sleepily, yet at the same time excitedly, and rush to the aviary. Tipping his toes to unlock the hinge of the mailbox and slowly drag out the thick parchment.

He was intelligent like most members of the family, but more importantly he was ambitious in a young age. He often participated in the family meetings. As he grew, he felt more and more in control, now that he was one step and one step again closer to his dream to becoming a glorious leader.

Though Marcus was emotional, he had a fiery temper, at the same time arrogant. He often self pitied himself, for his lack of parentage. He never saw his father. Soon his mother also left. The only close person that was near his parent, was his uncle Carlito. His uncle Carlito was a cheerful and kind man. He was grateful for the family, for he had been born illegitimate, but in the end they had still welcomed him back. Due to his past, he was also determined to give his niece the same generosity his family had given him.

Carlito felt that his niece Marcus was not healthy. He often found it troubling that Marcus never spent the day in the sunshine, playing tag or whatsoever. Most important, he found that when he told Marcus to play with the other boys, he was very arrogant. Even though many of the other boys believed that Marcus possessed strong leadership qualities, they were often angered by the fact that Marcus valued himself so high. They often took advantage of his weak physical form and tried to create unpleasant accidents.

Carlito felt a responsibility to train Marcus into a fine young man, but often found him ignorant and stubborn. He sometimes lost his usual patience, having to switch to a harsh and strict mentor. He hated himself for doing that. But Marcus with his temper could get out of control rather easily. Now that he felt this responsibility, he also felt the age seeping into him, even though how much he wanted to preserve himself.
