Our next steps to dealing with the ratkin threat Issued and averred by Sir Rowan Atstana de Regne Petrère 222 Sir Rowan The Morning Blaze, of the Petrine Laurel calls upon the Levy and Knights of the Petrine Laurel, along with any capable man or woman, to aid in the Extermination of the rat problem that had emerged in Riviènse and left tracks towards the Mesa. The location of the enemy nest was discovered by our scouting party some time ago. It was discovered that hundreds of Ratkin called the nest home. The party was ambushed by this unseen enemy that emerged from hidden burrows around the main nest, so be prepared for a horde of rats. Luckily the scouts were able to retreat with minimal casualties, but this pest problem cannot be left unattended as their numbers increase day by day, and soon the problem will be too large to handle. Prepare your explosives, ropes, potions, blades, and armor. Ready yourselves for a bloodbath. OOC: Event starts at noon EST on Saturday, April 18th. Contact Sir Therin (Tremerus) or Sir Rowan (Athonir) if you wanna join us. [!] A summary of events is attached to the missive detailing the prior encounters with the ratkin. FIRST ENCOUNTER Ratkin were encountered for the first time in Riviènse as a small raiding party, they had prowled around and broken into the housing of the folk living within the city walls. The sighting of these rat creatures was first brought to the attention of the local law enforcement. Sir Rowan was present at the time and took charge of confronting the sneaky vermin. Upon being discovered within the University facilities, the thieves turned their weapons immediately against Sir Rowan and those who came to his aid in the confrontation, namely Miss Cinnamon and Mr Belegar. The grayish ratkin wore leather armor with red cloth, armed with stolen cutlery and knives. They were quickly dealt with, leaving behind only confusion about where they had crawled from. Red sand was discovered on their bodies, which pointed to the mesa. SCOUTING REPORT Traveling to the Mesa, our patrol came up on tracks left in the sand, multiple prints heading southwest into the nearby mountains, which we followed to a broken-down tent, and near it, we found a burrow. From the burrow, we heard many skittering voices of Ratkin within. Alas, it was too late, and the horde had noticed our presence. This burrow was not the only entrance to the nest, many small holes were dug into the cliffside surrounding the plateau, and they began pouring out of every single one, climbing their way up the cliffside to quickly push us back. It was an ambush. Our men fought valiantly, taking tens with them as we made our way to retreat. The Tide of Ratkin were in the hundreds. We can't let this problem grow. On top of this, at the last second of Sir Rowan’s spell teleporting the party out of there, Squire Witold-Leszek fell and was dragged by the rats down into their caves. We need to rescue him while he yet breathes. O S A I N T E R È G N E P E T R È R E Sir Therin, Knight-Captain of the Petrine Laurel Sir Rowan, Knight of the Petrine Laurel

Percival de Lyons set the missive down after reading it and simply stated. "He deserves the rest."

Sir Therin wiped the ash and blood from his suit of armor saying quietly to himself "It's finally over" and made his way to check on each of his soldiers. Once he was done, he'd make his way to the lake at the aldtree and quietly reflected on what was likely his final battle.

After reading the missive, an unaffiliated atronach known as The River Knight conjured some water from the void, and used it to weep.

Sir Therin made his way down to the Garden of Giants within the walls of Riviènse after reading the bull. He sat in quiet reflection, attempting to recall memories of what his mother was like while fumbling with a rock in his hands. "How wonderful it is to see you mentioned again" he said while reflecting. The stone had letters 'A of V' etched onto them, and was one of several he carried with him since leaving Aevos.

The Petrine Census of 214 ARP Issued and averred by Sir Therin Thelonious Adil Atstana de Regne Petrère 214 The Census of 214 ARP The Pétrine city of Riviènse has, since it was founded seventeen years ago by Archduke Joseph, been the proud bastion of people of the Commonwealth. The streets are filled with industry, mercantilism, and the hustle of the courtiers. We have thrived within these Autumn Meadowlands, the banners of our Commonwealth waving with the gust of strength, resilience, and dedication of one’s own growth. In light of our continued prosperity, and with our population ever rising despite being in wartime, it is necessary for the Commonwealth’s government to commit to a census of the Pétrine people, for our Commonwealth is naught without the people who hold it up. We must account for every man, woman, and child that roams the streets of Riviènse and the greater Commonwealth, for it is for them that our swords shall be raised; it is for them that our bureaucracy grows; it is them that we serve. As such, it is the decree of Sir Therin, the Knight Captain of the Ordre du Pétrine Laurel, with the support of the rest of the River Council, that all subjects of the Commonwealth complete the Commonwealth of the Petra Citizen Census of 214 A.R.P. The Census can be found HERE. This Census shall serve to provide the Commonwealth Government with the necessary information to conduct itself on vital matters of the citizenry going forward, and it is of the utmost urgency that the Pétrine fill it out at their earliest opportunity, even if they dwell outside the walls of Riviènse. S I G N E D, Sir Therin, Knight Captain of the Ordre du Petrine Laurel

Atstana de Regne Petrère 198 By Order of His Grace and Knight Commandant, Let it be known to the faithful and loyal sons and daughters of the Commonwealth that the mantle of Knight-Commadant is to be passed from Sir Artair - who has served with honor, dignity & respect - unto Sir Therin, former Archduke of Petra and reformer of this new Order. His grace has proven with his life of service to the people of Petra that his wisdom is still needed in these changing times. Sir Therin shall resume his sacred charge, to guide the Order of the Petrine Laurel and uphold its code of Chivalry. To see the continuance of its spirit and deed. The Order of the Petrine Laurel offers due thanks to our departing Commandant for his years of faithful service, keeping our people safe from the Mountain's forces as we fled to this new place, and to helping settle into strange lands that we are beginning to call home. We stand ready to serve Sir Therin's command in the days to come. S I G N E D, Sir Artair “The Flameborn” von Theonus Former Knight Commander of the Petrine Laurel, Master-at-Arms of Vissingren Castle Sir Therin“The Stalwart” Adil Thelonius Temesch of the Petra Knight Commander of the Petrine Laurel

Therin made his way through the Palais Madelaine with some urgency, only stopping once he saw his son and his daughter by law and checked in on the pair. Once he finished making sure both were okay, his next stop would be to see his grandson. "You have quite the name to live up to." he said to the boy. "But I know you'll have all the support needed to do so."

An aging Aurel von Theonus made his way to his son's side, taking a seat next to him once he arrived. "You did well." said the father to the son. "And she will too."

A New Current Takes Hold Issued and averred by His Grace Atstana de Regne Petrère 190 Just as the river Petra has borne its waters through abundance and scarcity, through calm waters and fierce rapids, and peace and turmoil, so too has my own course followed its path. For many years, it has been my blessing, my burden and my greatest honor to serve the Petran people first as your King and now as your Archduke. To guide the Commonwealth through trial and triumph alike. In that time, I have known moments of joy, of pride and of sorrow. I have always tried to act for the good of our people, though I am not blind to the fact that my choices have, at times, caused pain. Such is the weight of rule, and it has been a heavy current to bear. Yet no course flows forever unchanged. This duty, though fulfilled to the best of my strength, cannot remain mine alone. The river must carry forward, and in its turning, new waters take hold. Thus, I now pass down the title of Archduke to my son, Joseph Antonius Aurelle Temesch of the Petra. May he, like the fresh current of a river, carve new paths, renew old banks, and guide you all into the future with strength, wisdom and courage. Know that though my course narrows, I remain part of the same river as you. A drop among many, bound to the same waters that have ever carried Petra forward. My love for this realm and its people does not end with my reign, nor will my spirit depart from its flow. Petra endures. The river endures. And as one current gives way to another, its waters are unbroken, ceaseless, and strong. S I G N E D, HIS GRACE, Sir Therin Thelonius Adil of the Petra, Archduke of the Petra, Marquis de Val d’Estenou, Count of Temesch, Torm Marian, and Moere, Viscount of Mies, Baron of Garmont, Vallagne-en-Petra, Eagles Peak, Hrenthorne, Wittenbach and Resmore, Protector of the Meadows & Defender of Liberty
