  1. THE ALMARIS BUCKETBALL ASSOCIATION OUR HISTORY Formed in 48SA (1844 IST), the Almaris Bucketball Association (ABA) was the union of the International Bucketball League (IBL) and the Western Almaris Championship League (WACL). Bucketball is a game that involves throwing a ball into a basket, what originally was just a bottomless bucket. The competitive spot has many different origin stories. Most popular among humans is Detective Unc threw a pigshead into a rain catcher during an investigation, which ultimately produced street games of the sport using cabbages and other circular objects. Alternatively, non-humans often theorize that the sport is of Orcish origin and was more physically violent when first played. Regardless, the ABA is dedicated to entertaining the crowds of Almaris with thrilling games of bucketball. Dependent on weather and transportation concerns, games and their results will be announced every day or so. Fans are encouraged to root for their favorite team, define things such as the stadium, or find other ways to expand the culture of the sport. YOUR TEAMS -=- The ABA consists of two leagues, predominately along the lines of the IBL-WACL divide. Each league has eight teams and each team will play twenty-two games a season. The top four teams will advance to the playoffs and play series of five games to determine who advances to the next round. The Grand Almaris Championship (GAC) shall be a series of five games, with the winner being crowned the champion of Almarisian Bucketball. -=- The Western Conference The Varhelm Beserkers - A powerful offensive team but has serious defensive weaknesses The Elvenesse Bucks - An underwhelming team that is rebuilding after the loss of several star players to raiders The San Luciano Saints - The renamed Sutican Swordfish, this team has drafted stellar offensive players in recent years. The Karosgrad Ravens - One of the most renowned teams with good overall defense and offensive capabilities. The Iron Uzg Krugs - Made up of strong offensive players but prone to penalties and fouls. The Vortice Krakens - A breakaway team of the Freeport Pigeons that has subpar offensive players. The Elysium Foxes - Another breakaway team from the Varhelm Besekers, their biggest rivals. Decent defense, but needs improvement. The Yong Ping Dragons - Reknown for some of the tallest players in the ABA, their defense is strong. However, their shooting needs improvement. The Eastern Conference The Freeport Pigeons - One of the oldest, but deprived, teams in the sport. Mediocre at best. The Kal'Darakaan Miners - The strongest defense in the whole sport, but significant offensive flaws. The Du Loc Flames - All around good team, with a knack for trickery such as lighting the ball on fire. The Haelun'or Purifiers - Highly paid players that do little. Inadequate skills and in desperate need of a new coach. The Providence Vigilants - The most well-funded team with highly skilled immigrants from around Almaris. The Talus Grove Druids - Worst team in the ABA by far. Players are considered washed up and out of practice. The Rozania Rabbits - Emerging team still in its youth. Developing players has been its biggest talent, keeping them is another story. The Fakhr Dunes - The southern menace has waned in recent years but may return in time. Overall average. Known Rivalries The Freeport Pigeons - The Vortice Krakens The Elysium Foxes - The Varhelm Besekers GAMES - Starting this Saint's Day, and dependent on weather and transportation concerns, games and their results will be announced every day or so. Make sure to follow along and root for your favorite team. A list of past games is below: WEEK ONE - SEASON ONE WEEK TWO - SEASON ONE WEEK THREE - SEASON ONE WEEK FOUR - SEASON ONE WEEK FIVE - SEASON ONE WEEK SIX- SEASON ONE WEEK SEVEN- SEASON ONE WEEK EIGHT - SEASON ONE WEEK NINE - SEASON ONE WEEK TEN - SEASON ONE THE AMATEUR DIVISION The Almaris Bucketball Amateur Division (ABAD) consists of expansion teams that are in competition to ascend to the ABA. The last ranked team in the ABA will be moved to the ABAD every season, allowing the top-ranked ABAD team to advance into the prime ABA. We hope this puts to rest concerns of possible exclusion of minor teams that did not qualify for initial ABA membership. All standings and scores for the ABAD will be placed after the results and standings of the ABA weekly posts, found above. 2. The Mortal Chime -=- -=- Penned in 1812 IST by Henry Penton Originally Published 1812 IST. Publicly Published in 1837 IST. FOREWORD I had originally set out, in 1810, to write a Tuvmas tale, seeing Oren lacking a familiar tale of the occasion. Despite my best efforts I was unsuccessful in creating my vision, though it has morphed into its own form of literature. Seeing as I have aged, I have found it necessary to publicly publish much of my early works that were once exclusively for sale at my bookshop. So, please enjoy one of my earliest works, a short story on madness: The Mortal Chime. -=- The door creaked open, a bright light shone across the dark alleyway. Wyatt’s eyes had not yet grown familiar with the mingled shine and darkness of the store when the keep spoke. “You come to me on Tuvmas, of all days. My store is shut up tight as the snow falls this very day and you expect me to do business?” Wyatt refuted the shopkeep, “I only wish to sell my possessions. So that I can -” “I care not for your worries, only your wares.” With that Wyatt was admitted into the blackness that was the cold shop. The two settled on either side of a counter, the candle resting neatly between them. “If I am to do business this day you will need to give full account of how you came into the possession of these fine objects.” “I- I was gifted them by my uncle, sir,” Wyatt muttered. “Quite the collector he is,” said the shopkeep as he was turned and looking for his books of account. This pale, stout, man stood before Wyatt and quickly returned to examine the fine plates Wyatt had distributed before him. He picked one up, peering over his frames. Wyatt spoke as his goods were examined, “I should also need to purchase a gift. You see, I have been invited as a guest to dine with the parents of an eligible woman. Out of respect I thought it necessary to produce a complement.” The silence loomed as the man examined each of the plates. Inside Wyatt’s head there were many thoughts, but most of all there were thoughts of the clocks. Their ticking has swallowed up the silence that once lingered. “I wish not to be an obstacle for a good man like yourself to secure a favorable match.” He would stoop and retrieve a wrapped hand mirror, unwrapping it on the counter. “A mirror,” he would stand in anger, pushing the stool he sat on to the floor with his sudden rise. “For Tuvmas?! You expect me to gift a woman such a thing?” “Of course, it is a lovely quality. Imported!” The merchant tried to reckon with Wyatt’s disillusionment with the object. Wyatt spoke louder, “I shall not curse another to look upon themselves when I have no want to look upon my own complexion.” The pale man somehow seemed paler as he retorted, “your lady, though, may find the action far more pleasing than yourself.” “What do you know of ladies,” shot back Wyatt. “Have you ever been in love?!” “Love - BAH! I had not the time nor the interest to trifle in such affairs,” chuckled the keep. “Now, will you take this glass or not?” Wyatt scowled, “what other wares have you good friend? I should need options.” The merchant frowned, begrudgingly stooping once more to retrieve another curiosity. Wyatt moved around the counter in darkness and silence, save the insesintent ticking of the clocks. “Perhaps this bowl,” he said as he rose. From behind Wyatt bounded upon his helpless victim. A flash struck through the darkness as a dagger fell, lit by the sole candlelight. The man struggled, but two more blows sent him sprawling, his head hitting the corner of the counter on his descent. Small voices joined in a chorus that engulfed the shop. They scored the time, some in a cumbersome manner and others in a hurried fashion. Nonetheless, they told the hour with intricate tickings. Wyatt’s eyes turned to his victim, a pool of blood and a pile of clothes were what he saw. The limbs were scattered and the scene was repugnant to him. In his head the ideas of time struggled to compete with the chimes. For while time had closed for the keep it had remained for him. His thoughts were interrupted by a sudden cacophony, as the clocks struck three in the morn. Deep thunderous swells meshed with the high treble notes of dancing. He staggered, as he realized the clocks were intertwined with the worst fate a man can see - his own face in a mirror. Panic set in - he should have chosen an hour when the streets were busy but not many would enter the shop. Someone may have heard the sounds among the silence of the eve. There remained an incessant tolling which ceased at the sound of rats moving in the attic above, only to have it continue following the soft steps fading away. So Wyatt ran from the sound, up to the attic and shut himself in. The brief respite let him observe the dismantled, uncarpeted, room that lay before him. But it was just as he walked further into the room that he heard it - a step mounting the stairs. Its slow pace, yet steady, ended - and for a moment Wyatt let go of his breath. Then the knob slowly rotated accompanied by a whining creak from the door. Was it the law, coming to bring him to justice? Was it the shopkeep - a dead man walking?! Perhaps a person who had, by mistake, found the body and now sought to consign him to the gallows? “Good evening, Wyatt,” spoke the thing pleasantly as it closed the door. Wyatt knew, a conviction so true, that this thing was not of God. “The marks are in the draw by his bed, left side,” spoke the thing softly. Wyatt was silent. “Well, perhaps you can leave it,” the thing said as it paced before the man. It’s grey aurora clung to the air, darkening darkness a shade more. “Fair warning, Wyatt Gresnick, Mrs. Thumble the maid left her house a few minutes ago, earlier than usual I should say. If you were found here I have no doubt you know the outcome?” Wyatt spoke up, “You know me?” The thing nodded, “You are a personal favorite of mine, dear Wyatt.” “And what are you,” demanded Wyatt in a hushed yell. “Does it matter, truly? What I am does not change what I can do for you.” “Do for me? I had supposed you were intelligent! No man does for another, instead all men are born, live, and die in a land of hulking giants. Those monsters drag you by your bare wrists, from the womb to the grave! The hateful giants of natural circumstance. No sir, you cannot do anything for me, nor can I do anything for myself. Humanity is but an unwilling player in the fates.” “Deep thoughts indeed,” the thing replied, “but I have no interest in your role in the events, only that the events conspired. Alas, time does fly indeed. The servant, with every step, comes closer to you. As if the gallows had been sent to find you themselves! Such a magnificent sight to see death personified walking through our Tuvmas streets!” The things voice got serious, “Now, shall I help you? Shall I tell you a way out?” The ringing started again, “had it been an hour,” thought Wyatt. Sounds of bells ruptured through the floorboards, shaking his skull. “For what cost,” he screamed as he covered his ears in pain. The thing’s fiendish smile protruding from the darkness. “My Tuvmas gift to you, of course.” Wyatt surged forth, falling to his knees. “No! If I had been lost in the woods for thirty days, dying of hunger, and it was your hand which offered me the bread of life, I should find the courage to refuse you.” The thing leaned down, its rot stinking up Wyatt’s nostrils. “I have no objections to a deathbed confession. You are but an evil man, and evil men should confess, no?” Wyatt shrieked, the throbbing noise has engulfed his senses. He closed his eyes and said, “I confess to being a slave to poverty and a indulger of vices! I had hoped to marry, and in that action free myself of my past. I prize not love, I love not an honest woman but a rich one. And I killed the keep not because he was cruel or unfair in our dealings but because he tried to show me the truth in my reflection. Evil.” Then Wyatt opened his eyes, seeing the maid in front of him. The other thing had gone, leaving the sunrise to fill the room with gleams of soft light. The dirty maid clutched her bosom as Wyatt rose, the ringing deafening him to her words of inquiry. He spoke quietly, the chimes parting for his words, “Go and seek out the guards. I confess it, I have killed the shopkeep.” It was four days later that the bells chimed once more, this time for the life of Wyatt Gresnick, his body hung limp. "From life's inception we trudge towards death. The middle of the story is brief glimpses of insanity among many sorrowful stints of sanity." - Henry Penton, 1837

  8. O' The Shoreline Published 1825 IST, Debuted 1825 IST. Penned by Henry Penton Henry Penton grew up surrounded by the countryside music and festivals that are often forgotten about in the big, glitzy city of Providence. As only is appropriate, Henry has rearranged a classic countryside song for the taste of the Providence masses. This dancing jig was sung by many a country folk, who has often made their way down the winding roads towards the rocky shore of Oren's coasts. Henry hopes this song finds its ways into the taverns, Augustine, and the hearts of any who wish to enjoy a day on the beach. Brought to you by

  10. A Barren Pricket By Henry Penton Akin to festering wounds, I had brooded, but now that diseased itch desired nothing more but to excoriate. Below that waning moon my prowl began. My teeth, like beastial fangs, did taint the brackish eve. I forget not the dreary night on which her grip beset me, her thighs bringing a feverish sweat to my brow. My mind was mercurial, misdirected by even a sedentary glance. Then she uprooted me, thrust me onto that ashen bed, near dismal walls and a dusty pricket that was left uncapped and barren. She bestowed upon me two presents that night. A boxy print that her face twisted upon and this gruesome pungent pox that plagues my soul. As the blustery wind bellowed down the street, devoid of any others, a gloom fell over her path. I shadowed her, I fixed my eyes upon her locks which appeared as darkened as crows’ feathers. As the midnight hour grew nearer I jolted with such inscrutable silence to the door, no resistance did I find. With each step the floor boards could find reason to betray me, but God found me innocent of any contempt. There! There she laid, like a revolting, sinister evil in a deep slumber. And there! Beside her rested the flaxen hair of another, another wasted man with but a single night with Iblees’ wench. The room teemed with silence as I perched above them, pricket in hand. Yet I stood, and let a lull rest there, until the stroke of the clock brought my transgressions of mind into the surge of that downward pricket. When the men entered they found me asleep, on either side the corpses. The putrid smell of death scared them, it assured me. No longer could a carcass pervert men’s perversions. They say I’ll die for this, yet I already have. Brought to you by

  12. Sir Henry Penton, age 31 Painted in 1817 in honor of his knighthood for Oren Aut Mortem Thank you ZeeZac for the art work! Friendly Reminder: Please do NOT Meta-Game ANY of the Contents of this Post. THE BASICS Pen Name: Henry Penton Birth Name: Henry Norten Gender: Male Race: Human (Heartlander) Nationality: Orenian Residence: Penton Place, Providence, Holy Orenian Empire Profession: Varies Height: 5'7" Weight: 145 lbs Hair: Reddish brown Eyes: Brown Skintone: Pale PERSONALITY Strengths Devoted Henry is a man of dedication to what he believes in. There is not a night when he is not burning the midnight oil to manage ledgers, write a new poem, or ponder life's questions. He is not of the mindset that something can wait for tomorrow, for tomorrow may never come. His success from his books was built in a concise amount of time, and he owes that to his unrelenting pursuit of success and dedication to his craft. Generous & Kind Growing up with little to his name, Henry is generous to his fellow commoners. He is often seen hosting guests from the streets, of all social classes, in Penton Place. He believes everyone deserves a fair shake from life, especially children. Open-Minded He is a firm believer that no one should judge another person. He finds himself receptive to many lifestyles and perspectives, except those seeking to deprive others of their rights and liberties. Henry is tolerant of all people and mingles with a comprehensive arrangement of different characters. He finds it essential that everyone should express themselves as he does through the color of his clothes, which he changes incessantly. Humble Henry does not use his knighthood and prefers to be addressed as a commoner, using the simple title of Mister. He believes titles mean very little. Instead, it is the quality of the person who bears them that lends itself to the success of their work. Although he is pleased with his financial and literary success, he never brags about this fact and would not bring it up unless prompted to. He prefers to let others have their moments of marvelous glory while he sits in the background and applauses. Weaknesses Sensitive Along with the variety of bright colors that Henry sports daily, he also wears his heart on his sleeve. Although he may not show it outwardly, instead using his emotions to fuel his writing, he does not take kindly to insults or jokes at his expense. Despite this fueling his literary works, it often puts a physical strain on Henry as he has very few people in his life to conversate about such personal matters. Insomnia & Alcoholism Henry believes his lack of sleep fuels his creative work, but at the same time, it harms his physical state. He can often be found at his desk for days, avoiding sleep in pursuit of his work. Similarly, Henry's father was an alcoholic who drank himself into an early grave. Until the age of thirty, Henry abstained from all alcoholic drinks. However, following several personal blows, he took to the bottle and fell into his father's habit. While a functional alcoholic, always trying to hide it from public view, it is only a matter of time till the physical tolls pile up from his lifestyle. Spitefulness Mister Penton is not one to forget a slight. You would never know of this fact, but a man of books does not just write words - he writes names. Although completely abhorred by the idea of violence, Henry does not work with those he cannot trust. Rather it be a personal trust or a trust that the individual will uphold a high moral code, he does not pursue any relationship with a person until he knows the finer details of their life. 13. THE OREN AUT MORTEM MUSIC PACK The music discs in Minecraft aren't, how do we say it - good. So to fix that, I have released a music pack on Planet Minecraft, available to all, that will import my music and public domain classical music (anything pre-1925) into the game. This will increase your immersion and allow events to have period music that everyone can enjoy with a few simple and easy steps. For now, the pack includes Oren Aut Mortem, which is my most popular piece. I needed to start with the smallest pack possible so the Planet Minecraft staff would green-light the project. So, to add more music into the pack and allow me to update the pack quicker, please comment, subscribe, diamond, favorite, and follow. Anything helps because it gives me the experience on PMC to get to level 2, where I do not need to be green-lit for every update. Please find the pack below: CLICK HERE If you need help installing the pack here are instructions: CLICK HERE (Additionally, please place this pack at the top of your resource pack list. It will be overwritten if not on the top) Author's Note: Additionally, for those not in Oren who want their own pack, I will try my best to work on that. However, medieval music is not so readily available in the public domain. I apologize, but ensuring the Oren pack is fully functional and optimized will take precedent over all other packs I make. However, enjoy this one if you can, and if you can't, hold tight for a bit, and I will get something out for my medievalesque friends. - Charming

  20. Below please find a few poetic selections from my book, Natural Wealth. The full collection is available at any Penton Napier Publishing store or auction house. These verses are always accompanied by our superb, colorized illustrations. Speak my dear poets, And fill your papers with the breath of your heart. No man rests below it. It is the feelings we feel that set us apart. The Tulip Rendezvous Sheltered among the petals, in a cocoon of love. This blossoming tryst cannot last forever. With the chill your dress, like wings of delicate lack, shall not last. And what shall remain to capture this moment? Shall I be left to lament? How can I see the future when I am encaptured by the past? I shall not love another, ever. Till the day I ascend above. I will not be able to find another to settle. Nature's Chapel What if the forests were our chapels? We would learn the lessons of the pathless journey. We would have our teacher be life, our wisdom be found, not sought, and love at our core. If the showers appear in a gray sky do not run. Let the water overrun you, and step into the supposed chaos and tumult of true living. For life isn't found under roofs. It is found in your roots. The Boulevard of Sprites Fairies are all over the boulevard, their flowers alive. The puddles their baths, watch how they gleefully dip and dive. What funny little fellows! What dainty little dears! They sing, and dance, and prance to little fairy cheers. Such childish wonder, such glorious freedoms. If only they could lend me some... For while they frolic, I remain Stuck inside to my own disdain. We've forgotten that fun, buttoned it up in our suits, Embroiled in our adultish disputes. Sometimes I wonder, even if I was that small Would I be the happiest, happiest of all... Collective Wealth In our city on the hill, we seek providence. Yet many live in unrepentant opulence. We see the dancers as shallow, The poets as weak, The poor man in shadows, Never to hear him speak. Yet our successes are intertwined, Our failures likewise. So I am here to gently remind, It is all of us who this city comprise. It is the glory of the soldiers that give poets light. It is the writings of our poets that give the solider the will to fight. All bring value, the young and the old. Each has a story meaning to be told. The Truth about a High Society White ball gowns mean you're the prettiest of all! Wear heels so you can tower tall! Style your hair, and your shoulders are not for show! We told you exactly what to wear because we know! We told you how to feel, but it was not the truth You can't be sad, my darling, you're only in your youth. We told her to obey or she'd never fit in. We said nothing as she pressed a blade to her skin. We know she didn't need the rules, her natural self was fine. But this is a society, we all know - rules are rules defined. Dear Reader, I hope you have enjoyed these fine selections of my many works. However, it means more to me that you ponder the questions asked above. My works all hope to show the meaning of true life to my fellow man. So I urge you to enjoy a stroll, an evening in the gardens, or a trip to the countryside in the name of Penton and a better life. This selection is dedicated to Dame Yuliya Styrne-Napier. You were the first artist to welcome me to Providence, and one day I hope you can be the first to welcome me to the Seven Skies. Special thanks to Diana d'Azor for help formatting Natural Wealth for public selection.

  22. Henry Penton wore black that day. His usual color was missing from his clothing and face. In the blustering wind, he stood in the gardens, which seemed to have been drained of their once prominent beauty too. From his pocket, he retrieved a small envelope which he placed on the ground. It was that morning when he had written it, stored up in his home offices with nothing but sorrow on his mind. He put his thoughts to paper, as well as he could, and figured he would write one last thing to the Madame Directress. “If I had known the last time we spoke would be the last time we spoke, I would have asked so many more questions. I have needed your direction a million times, and I will need it one million more. For the short time I knew you, I saw a woman devoted to the arts and enjoying life. Believe it or not, many people go throughout their lives knowing nothing of the delights or sorrows you have endured. I shall publish every poem, direct every production, and write every word with the belief that you watch over me. I have resolved that I cannot control what has already occurred, so I am devoted to ensuring what little charge I have is used properly. If I have any say in the matter your name shall reign as one of my inspirations and motivations. Most certainly, however, you will be recognized as a preeminent figure of exceptional literature by all. Words will always fail me when it comes to describing this grief. Therefore I regrettably have to say goodbye, in this letter, to a good mentor and friend. May we meet one day again. Signed, Your Friend, Henry Penton” As he stood and watched the letter blow up into the air, his mind convinced itself of closure, but a few tears managed to stride down his face. He would write on, but not without the weighty heart of a man who had lost something so dear: A brilliant and remarkable mentor.

  25. Charles McBeck was born to a failing cooper, the third and final child of the brood. His early years were spent in the impoverished alleyways of Providence. When he was nearly a man grown, his father sent him to apprentice with a smith in the neighboring village. His two older brothers had both died fighting for the Empire in the ISA. After less than a year Charles tired and ran. Over the coming years Charles came to join wandering caravans, learning their crafts as well as offering his poor smithing skills to those who would overlook his shoddy craftsmanship. His most successful stint was during his early twenties, when he shoed horses for a traveling band of jugglers. It was in his late twenties that he realized the need to strike out on his own. Endeavoring upon the small loan of a friend from the troupe, he began trading initially in cereal grains before moving to silks and spices from distant lands. He made residence in Sutica for some time, but was rarely living there. He mostly kept the small abode in his name in case he would ever need it for friends. He never got the chance to use it. Running small insurance for merchant ventures, he made enough money to live a comfortable lifestyle, but alone. Now Charles finds himself a successful merchant but without anyone to share in his wealth.
