  1. good comment. I added the red line you suggested. The grind stone is only one example but not the point of the lore. I wrote this for smaller flywheels that fit inside small machines, something that is hand held.
  2. I was trying to create a Locator compass using gyroscopes. Is there already lore for those?
  3. Description A flywheel is simply a heavy disk with an axle that runs through the exact center of it. The wheel spins on the axle generating centripetal force and stored energy. The wheel must be smooth on all sides so that it spins evenly. It is also attached to the axle so it can be brought up to speed and/or transferred that stored energy back into the system it is connected to. The size of the Flywheel can vary greatly from small parts connected to a clock or a gear heart to large stone wheels used to sharpen tools and weapons or make equipment run more smoothly once it gets up to speed. Capabilities The flywheel is not complicated and any craftsman can make one. The only requirement necessary is a way to power it. Small flywheels can be powered by windup springs or gear hearts. Larger ones could be powered by a waterwheel or some kind of manual crank. The most difficult part of the flywheel is getting the gearing worked out so the wheel spins at high revolutions. This is where a more skilled craftsman may be needed. When building a contraption that uses a flywheel a roll must be made when you power it up for the first time. Blacksmith 1-7= gears sheer off and you must rebuild the mechanism and roll again. 8-14= Nothing happens, need to adjust the gears and roll again. 15-20= Everything works properly. First Level Animantii Alchemist 1-5= gears sheer off and you must rebuild the mechanism and roll again. 6-10= Nothing happens, need to adjust the gears and roll again. 10-20= Everything works properly. Second Level Animantii Alchemist and above 1-2= gears sheer off and you must rebuild the mechanism and roll again. 3-5= Nothing happens, need to adjust the gears and roll again. 6-20= Everything works properly. Red Lines/Restrictions -A character must have one of the above skill sets to make a flywheel. -If stopped too quickly the flywheel may cause damage to any gears or equipment that is connected. -If the flywheel is more than 25% of the weight of the equipment it is powered by then a roll must be made every time it is turned on. 1-10 = catastrophic failure destroying the entire project. 11-17= flywheel brakes it’s mounts and rolls away. 18-20= successfully spins up to proper speed and runs normally. -If anyone is within 3 blocks of the flywheel during a catastrophic failure they will be killed. If inside the machinery or equipment they will be injured. -When not powered the flywheel will slowly loose speed until it comes to a complete stop. Purpose (OOC) The flywheel is similar to the spring in it’s basic usefulness. By its self there is nothing too interesting or significant that it can accomplish but when combined with machinery it can create new possibilities. Citation Spoiler None

  7. Dynamancy. Very creative. I love the medical aspect to it!
  8. Super cool and well thought out. Would you consider putting in a category for nonresident applicants? If another city wants to establish a medical core of their own you could set your city up as the preferred place to go to gain prestige in the medical field. Maybe even have certifications that can be posted on a wall.
  9. Farming is definitely your strength. Perhaps halflings can grow and rais their herds faster. They can suply leather and wool in large quantities. Meat and other foods could be bought for a good price by those planning parties. Developing a reputation for premium and expensive boutique food items that royalty and nobility would buy for themselves and guests would also strengthen their unique value in LOTC. The wealthy love to flaunt their wealth and enjoy the finer things in life.
  10. I would be interested. I'm new but am having a lot of fun with my first character. message me on Discord and we can discuss.

You’ve just arrived in a swampy, dim town. As you look around, your gaze is met with shacks and cabins. It smells of rotted wood and wet moss. You duck and step into a tattered tent, illuminated by a series of candles suspended in the air. At the back of the tent, an old hag raises her head, “What brings you to this dingy town? she begins, then pauses to study your face—”Ah, it’s you. I’ve been expecting you. Sit,” she gestures at a cushion, “Tell me your story.” ((How do you respond?)) You walk over to the offered seat and slump down into it, your prosthetic leg creaking as you do so. "Well boy, what tale have you?" she repeats, growing impatient. You lift your hand up and pull back the scarf that hides your neck and mouth. "Oh I see. My apologies," she says, wincing at the mangled knot of scars that cover your throat "take your time." You get comfortable and pull a slate tablet and chalk from your satchel. Holding the slate in the hook that is your left hand you begin to write. "I am searching for my past." erase "I need guidance". She rolls her eyes. "I must know who you are and where you come from before I can help." the old crone chides. erase "apologies, My name is Niefendil" erase "I was found on a derelict orc pirate ship" erase "an Elven vessel found me nearly dead" erase "brought me to Elvenessse" erase "they healed me and named me" erase "for I knew not who I was." "That explains your name but what of your arm and leg?" "I was missing them when found" "once healed, to the dwarves I journeyed" "they took pity, gave me new ones." you lift your arm and wave with your hook. You begin writing again "Now I seek my past". "That was quite the tale indeed, even if it was lacking in details." You shrug and hold up the stub of chalk. She smirks and raises a hand "I jest my mangled mystery." Rising from her chair she shuffles around the table she sat behind leaning on her cane for balance. The Hag stops before you, scrutinizing your ruined features. "mmmmm" she looks into your one good eye intently then shrugs. "I have no past for you." She turns to walk away. Frustrated scratching causes her to turn back and you shove your slate in her face, "NOTHING?!" She moves the slate to the side and says "I have no knowledge of who you are but I do know what you are. You are an Adunian. Seek out your people and perhaps you will find your past."
