You’ve just arrived in a swampy, dim town. As you look around, your gaze is met with shacks and cabins. It smells of rotted wood and wet moss. You duck and step into a tattered tent, illuminated by a series of candles suspended in the air. At the back of the tent, an old hag raises her head, “What brings you to this dingy town? she begins, then pauses to study your face—”Ah, it’s you. I’ve been expecting you. Sit,” she gestures at a cushion, “Tell me your story.” Lavinia sneers at the woman and sends a scornful glance her way. "I don't see why that concerns you. You have no reason to be poking your nose in things that dont concern you." The woman looks at Lavnivia with a reprimanding glance, and Lavinia looks away uncomfortably, figeting with her fingers. "I apologize. That was uncalled for...I arrived here on happenstance. You see, I wish to leave my past and my mistakes behind me, so I just chose a direction and started walking, I had no intention of arriving here deliberately. But I hope there's room for me?" Backstory: Lavinia was born to a fairly well off merchant family on the outskirts of North Vortice. Lavnina's parents were absent most of her young life. Her mother didn't want a child and her father didn't care enough about her, so her parents dropped her off at her aunt's and uncles just a few days after she was born. Her uncle Alden Haeda, didn't care about Lavinia, and saw her as a pest. However, her aunt, Maeva Haeda adored Lavinia, and made sure to show it. However, Maeva despised her own son, Thyre. Maeva would often say 'You love me more than Alden ever will, don't you, Lavinia?" whilst Alden was still in the room, to purposely infuriate him, this bred a tense relationship between Alden and Lavinia. Maeva, although she loved Lavinia, in her own twisted way, would still do unspeakable things to her. At the age of 5, when Lavinia out playing with a small snorgus that her father gifted her during a rare visit, the animal had grown tired of playing, but Lavinia still wanted to play with it, so she yanked on its tail, and, predictably, it yelped. Lavinia started crying, as up to that point she hadn't really realized that the animal was a real being that felt pain, and not just a toy. Maeva came up to Lavinia and asked, "Did you like hurting the snorgus?" Lavinia adamantly denied it, until Maeva said that if she did it would make her (Maeva) very happy. Wishing to appease her pseudo-mother, Lavinia said that she did, thus beginning Maeva's sick teachings to Lavinia about sadisim. Maeva taught Lavinia to hurt various small animals, and to abuse Thyre, and Lavinia complied, fearing that Maeva would stop loving her if she didn't follow what Maeva said. Lavinia loved both Maeva and Thyre, but Maeva was by far more imporrtant to please. As Lavinia grew older she became more apathetic, callous and malicious, and grew to have facination with pain, whether she inflicted it on other beings or herself. She subconsciously created a positive feedback loop with sadism, and started having hyper-realistic intrusive thoughts about harming and killing people, which were her only source of happiness. Maeva became harder to please as Lavinia grew older, and Lavinia had to hurt more things to make her happy. Slowly, being sadistic was becoming harder for her to enjoy, and she had to force the serotonin rush more than she used to have to. When Lavinia turned 17, Thyre tried to run away from home, hoping to escape the abuse he faced from his entire family, and failed. Maeva locked him up in his room, would only feed him poisoned food, and Thyre slowly started rotting away. Lavinia, torn between pleasing her aunt, and saving her cousin, chose to finally do the right thing, and snuck Thyre out in the middle of the night. When Mavea found out, she was enraged. She stabbed Lavinia 5 times in the stomach and told her that she would never forgive Lavinia for betraying her family, and disowned her. Lavinia tried her best to cover the wounds she had sustained, before running away, and hitchhiking with anyone who would take in a 17 year old dark elf with little money. She traveled for a year before landing in Nor'asath, hoping to start a new life in the city.
