Quantifiable Mana [Lore addition/Amendment?]
The Vulgate Cycle replied to Apotolofo's topic in Debate
Thats true, though my answer to that personally would be: It would be powergaming to have unlimited stamina and I would hope thst sort of thing would get called out and reported at need. As a magic user, calling on supernatural sources to do incredible, powerful things, that there is an almost implicit expectation that you are taking an extra limit to balance out the crazy spells that can be thrown out at people. Your system has the flexibility to be adjusted up or down at need as it stands rn to counteract any concerns about a change like this being too limiting and even allows for exceptions to certain spells be made if need be. But I do see your point overall and the system is interesting. -
Quantifiable Mana [Lore addition/Amendment?]
The Vulgate Cycle replied to Apotolofo's topic in Debate
Off rip Im not a huge fan of this. For magic users, who have crazy spells that do crazy powerful things, it makes sense to find some way to quantify how much they can do per combat encounter. For purely mundane fighters and warriors, I am less inclined to have something like this purely because there are already more ready means of stopping them if you are clever or smart enough about it. I worry that having all combat like this would devolve into playing a numbers game with how many points you can use just to continue the combat. Dont get me wrong, there SHOULD be a way to make CRP more fun. But I think what CRP is really lacking is a definitive way of determining who's attack / defense won out in a combat definitively. Idk Im willing to be proven wrong if something more comprehensive appears As for this Ill let someone more into the magic scene comment on this more thoroughly but as a non-voidal peon, this doesnt look bad to me -

A Fae-Touched Knight opened his eyes and found himself in the midst of a God's Wood. And there he sat, beneath the shadow of a white tree overlooking the cliffs. He had sat before a bonfire of his patron to meditate and in its flickering light, found peace. And though the air was still and he knew not what had befallen his home of youth, his mind stirred. A butterfly led his gaze to the west, where the iron gates sat closed, wherein he was compelled to stand and followed the invisible hand of fate out into the lower bailey. He had walked the path so many times, but this time felt different. The air was not lively, a new smell filled the air. Miasma... And so it was that Castamir came to the site of battle and bore witness to its aftermath. The people reeled, the animals were quiet, and it was here he learned the fate of Ser Elerrion Seregon. He stood in the spot where the Templar of Yore had died, and as if by compulsion, sought to find his boot-prints in the ground and match them. But he found the effort fruitless and he was humbled. Like Uther before him, he as struck by the suddenness of his demise, and he walked listlessly from the battleground awash with unfinished business. Tears stung his eyes, for a ready made friend, taken so soon. But despite his grief, despite his loss, a ferocious smile radiated off him. His heart pounded like a war drum as he exalted in the defeat of the damned. Elerrion had succeeded and his patrons purpose had been achieved. Bittersweet tears ran down his face as he exploded in laughter. And he laughed, and laughed, and laughed. Evil had been unmade that day and Elerrion- gruff, grumpy and old had made a worthy end to a storied life. He resolved to himself to not weep, but kill many more of Apostates of GOD in his name, to remember Seregon as he did Uther with every swing of his blade. And to wade in the blood of the darkspawn until time or fury carried him away in turn. And to seal his promise, spoke thus: "Blessed Malchediael, the world drowns in corruption; the faithful perish and the wicked multiply. Saint Michael, lend me your strength. Grant me the will to purge the corrupt, to smite the wicked, to bring hope when hope is lost. By the Cross, the Flame and the Radiant Star, and upon the blade I pledge to the coming battle, I vow not to waver and to never retreat; to stand tall against the flames of perdition; to drive back the Shadow with your holy Light. Through me, may the will of the Lord our God, Singular and Benevolent, be done. Amen." And with resolve steeled, for Elerrion's sake and his own, concluded "So Mote It Be"

POSITIO SUPER VIRTUTIBUS URIEL REX ADUNICAE

Lord Arthur Marsyr... whom in Uther's twilight years was simply known as Arthur-Indocar Uthyrien smiled. Though he did no bear witness to these miracles, he was glad that, even decades after his passing to see the Founder's name evoked as righteous. A stern father to all Adunians when at their greatest peril. "May your name day never go unmarked." -

Okay so, I understand the want to improve the lore, Im not against that if the rules are bad or incoherent. I also never really argued for a take it or leave it approach to the rules regarding Dark CAs or Feats. I even suggested an alternative approach that keeps the spirit of the salt test while also making it a little more difficult to acquire (mostly by just agreeing with someone else's suggestion). The main point I was trying to make is that in my personal experience, we have never randomly tested anyone except in cases where we had a legitimate reason to suspect they were a vampire, they were caught red handed and we wanted to be thorough, or we got reports of a vampire attack and were at a heightened state of vigilance for a little while before going back to normal. Meaning that people just randomly doing it just to do it are doing so in bad faith and they should be called out more. Should the test be a little more thorough and complicated? Maybe, I dont particularly see why its entirely necessary but if we must change it, then I like the suggestion I gave previously more. Its more intuitive and clear cut. I dont particularly like this tbh, I think ALL dark CAs and feats should have some way of testing for them, even if it is difficult to do so. I think that should be a risk you are meant to make when playing any of these categories precisely because they are set up as antagonists in their own right to the rest of the PCs. These things SHOULD come with major risks is my keystone point. Maybe this is a hot take but darkspawn / creatures should either be a lot more vulnerable to certain things in combat or a lot more easily detectable if a person knows what they are looking for.

I am not fully aware of where all this vampire testing is taking place, but to kinda give my two cents. I think when you choose to play an FA or a Dark CA or anything like that, you're essentially signing up to play an antagonist that can and most likely will eventually get caught. You're an enemy that most people train irply to fight, detect and destroy. I think if you make peace with that, it becomes a lot easier to take the loss. Also- I have seen plenty of examples of people who are able to play a Corc and not instantly get caught. I know of two Corcs oocly that walk around major settlements that are able to do so just fine because they dont draw attention to themselves and avoid the obvious things that would prompt a test. So making a darkspawn test even harder in response to bad faith rpers feels a little silly to me. Like someone else said, at best, I would make the testing method require an alchemical salt (rp signed, not ST signed) so that there has to be a little more work put into it but otherwise It's the risk you take by playing a corc

Castamir, now having properly moved into Ardrossil Castle beamed at his wife's work. The eldest were just at the right age. But their youngest so far, still had some time to go. He brushed his red head's hair. "You'll be a powerful cavalier yet." he murmured happily.

Alternatively you can just think of the months as being longer and roughly the same length as an irl year and not overthink it -
