So... Devs are adding things to professions that they have little knowledge, basically killing that profession, and thinking that everything is peachy when literally a large portion of the community is saying, "No!". The horsening part 2, sorry alchemist, you guys are getting hit like we were.

There's a difference between complaining and feedback. Heck, the shears durability was quickly fixed for example. But if you complain for the purpose of complaining without giving proper feedback and sugestions to modify it, or at least explaining how worse it is to keep the change, then it won't be seen too much to heart. Because all changes always have someone that dislikes them, and real feedback from "I hate change" needs to be done. ShameJax for example came to me specifically AND made a feedback thread to talk about the durability of the shears, so I quickly understood the problem, and changed it. Just complaining and saying devs and coders don't know what they are doing, does nothing to help fix anything, it's just complaining.

Do you know how the code for recipes is? How many lines each recipe has? How many recipes there are, and how hard it is to calculate times based on the skill level of someone? We trusted the recipes created by the one that previously coded. For most things, that is enough. In this case, the purpose of the staves was scrapped, but the recipes remained. We found several new uses for the staves, but forgot that the previous purpose was magic, which meant that the time it would take to make the staves would be bigger than normal. We aren't perfect, we're coders and developers, we can't know all the recipes that exist, together with all the times, tiers and other things concerning each recipe. So no, I didn't look with much detail at the recipe for the staves, because the time to make it is one number lost in lines and lines of code.

Where is information on each magic subtype (like what they do and stuff) on forums? I can't seem to find it

This just occurred to me. Does the server have any canon lore on which entities have souls and which do not?

how do I become a citizen of a city?

I still have no idea why people that enjoy pvp in LOTC don't try and use the potions I added to the server. Heck, contact me if you think a potion is too OP or too weak to ever be used.

@Heero, all the finished potions have more then 18seconds. Even the Moderate healing potion gives Regen II for 25 seconds (gives 10 hearts) or instant 8 hearts. Yes they have side effects, but for example, a moderate celerity potion gives Speed II and gives -1 dmg (half a heart). -1 dmg is removing 1/4 of the Orc buff (Weakness debuff is weak as hell, level II weakness only does less half a heart damage, that's going to be fixed in 1.9 making it -2 heart dmg per level.).
And those are only the Moderate potions. Stoneskin potion leaves you partically immortal but you can't jump for 3 mins. Healing gives you 16 hearts and 20 seconds slow. Accuity gives speed II and Jump II for 2 mins with Hunger V (you have to eat a lot to run a lot). Alchemist fire creates lava where the potion lands, meaning it has the potential to cause a lot of damage to an enemy.
Besides the abuse of using Stoneskin potion with a horse, all other potions I believe are pretty well balanced. Yet it's for balance that I take a while to add new potions. Example, how am I going to balance Speed III or IV? Can't be poison or wither because it kind of breaks the use of speed. I can make it that the drinker gets more damage, but then players will think it gives resistance. Mining fatigue is useless, slowness doesn't work if you have speed, and nausea doesn't actually do much besides annoy. Blindness stops sprint jumping. What remains is hunger, weakness, instant damage and maybe the reverse resistance (more damage instead of less).

"In order to engage in PvP you must have sufficient roleplay to do so, even if a player is running from ‘Halt!’ you may not PvP them." Can this be ignored if you're attacking someone who is banished/KOS or a common enemy? This isn't an attempt to be salty or anything, I'm honestly curious. How much rp do you actually need in these situations? If you start emoting, they'll easily get away by running mcly, but the rule states a "Halt" isn't enough.
-
Running away does not start PVP default, it just allows for the other side to down you (you can't turn around and fight back if you are running away). On the other hand, the KOS, banished stuff, if the KOS person is just running around the area, shout for your friends to gather. You need to roleplay to attack him, but it doesn't actually have to be directly to the person. You can roleplay gathering your forces and telling them to apprehend the person which is KOS or banished. Then you need to talk or emote towards the KOS person, but if you have been rp'ing about him before, you don't need more than a line or two before you down them to then revive them and continue rp. If they are banished in a place and are there, then they are roleplaying being there even if they don't emote or talk.

Enchanting news and update on server status.
So, first and foremost the server's status is currently due to issues with our DDoS protection provider, a lot of traffic is passing through and tests are being conducted at the same time to help ensure stability. it means, for the meanwhile, connections will be a little bit unstable - nothing I nor Tythus can do about it.
And now, enchanting!
https://www.reddit.com/r/Minecraft/comments/3j7ld2/next_target_for_19_combat_rebalance_armor/
This is a good post for anyone who is remotely curious about the changes in 1.9, why they were made, and what the future holds. For LotC, after reviewing this, it's very likely that enchanting will gain a lot more versatility as we'll be less afraid to allow higher level enchantments which can possibly break the game for us.
Diamond armor could also possibly make a come back with the armor re-scaling, a lot of possibilities are on the table with the minecraft 1.9 update!
