ON THE PASSING OF TITLES WITHIN THE EMPIRE Issued and confirmed by His Imperial Majesty, the Emperor of the Imperium Renatus, Godfrey III of the House of Horen, 18th of Owyn’s Flame, 1721 TO OUR BELOVED SUBJECTS, The Imperial Throne has found it of importance to reiterate the nature of the passing of titles within the Empire. As of the current date, those of Kingly, Princely, and Ducal rank and landed title may choose their successor from among the legitimate issue of their own House, according to predetermined succession rights. They may also abdicate to such a member of their House, though may not abdicate to those married in to the House. Those of Comital and Baronial rank must pass their titles by primogeniture agnatic-cognatic succession rules unless granted special leave by the Emperor. Regents are not allwoed under any circumstances to claim the title to which the ward they teach is entitled. Baronetcies, Viscounties and Viceroyalties within the Empire are not normally inherited. Upon the death of each holder of the title, it automatically reverts to the Emperor to be immediately doled out to the most fitting successor to the position from among the House of its last owner, or destroyed should none be deemed worthy. Those that attempt to circumvent any of the above rulings shall be subject arrest within the bounds of the Empire. Titles and lands granted by the Emperor cannot be legally doled out by nobility below the Ducal rank, and, again, titles and lands cannot be granted within the Empire without His Imperial Majesty’s express permission. Any found attempting to circumvent this rule shall be subject to the Emperor’s Justice and trial at the Lord Justiciar’s first availability. IN NOMINE DEI HIS IMPERIAL MAJESTY, Godfrey III of the House of Horen, Emperor of the Imperium Renatum, King of Renatus, Marna, Mardon, Salvus, Seventis, Savoy, Courland and Santegia, Duke of the Crownlands, Avar, and Frederica, Count of Helena, Alamar, Frederica, Thesmer, Thelen, Lorath, and Cantal, Baron of Darkwood, Gravelhold, Fidei Defensor, Protector of the Heartlanders, Highlanders, Farfolk, etcetera.
