William watched the ship fade across the horizon, leaving Arcas' shores, taking his best friend away on its decks. Worry not, stupid boy, Adeline had said as he saw her off. I can look after myself now. He would not see her again.

William had been released of his duties. For the first time in what felt like years, dreams could be pursued. His own, his wife’s, there was time. He had just gained the rights of a king, a parting gift from the young Achilius, something William could hardly wait to proudly brag about to Nicoletta. The world seemed to favor him, light shining on a pained reality. The two of them had become sure, after a while, that the child must be a boy for how it kicked within Nicoletta’s stomach. An heir. As he watched his wife give birth, though, he paled along with her. Blood. His smile wavered, then turned to a frown. There’s too much blood. William looked towards his wife’s face, watched her bittersweet tears flow, as if she knew something he did not. He grasped her hand, and she weakly held his. As she whispered her final wishes to him, as her eyes shut a final time, he shut his eyes in prayer, a prayer that he’d wake up from the nightmare. When he opened his eyes again, to the faint sounds of a whining baby boy, to the ushering in of a wetnurse and of doctors, he saw only that beautiful woman lying before him, as if asleep. “Requiescat in pace, amata.”

This is minor, but I’d greatly appreciate if you could scale down just one inch so it’s within the acceptable range. Your Interesting Facts must include at least one flaw or weakness in your character – this can be physical flaws, like blindness, or poor traits, like quick to anger or paranoia. HIS IMPERIAL MAJESTY’S DUELISTS’ RING “Hear ye,” proclaim the town criers. “For Emperor Godfrey II has seen fit to create a system for the greatest fighters of the realm to showcase their talents. Twice yearly shall the Duelists’ Ring meet, and twice yearly shall a victor emerge. More is to be explained below.” Twice each annum, or twice each Saint’s Week, a set of bouts shall be overseen by an Imperial agent of some kind – be it a member of the Privy, a soldier of the Army, or otherwise. The victor of the most bouts, counted only against opponents not yet faced that year, shall be awarded fifty minas upon the end of the set. At the end of the year, the victories between the two sets will be tallied. These yearly sets of two are referred to as Turnei, the Cassarian term for Tournament, and the man or woman with the most overall victories in each Turnei will be awarded an Aur Turnei medal, the second most a Argen Turnei medal, and the third a Bronze Turnei medal. There shall also be a First Blade of Helena, or the Primier espason, who shall be the man or woman that wins the first Turnei of Helena. After that, the First Blade may be challenged by any Turnei victor once per Aur Turnei medal to a set of three bouts, and the victor of said bouts will be crowned the new First Blade of Helena by a member of the Privy Council. Additionally, a Duelists’ ladder will be made, showcasing the greatest duelists of the realm. Each Aur, or Gold, medal shall be worth five Ladder points, each Argen, or Silver, worth three, and each Bronze worth one.
