I like helping to build cities and I also like it when there are clear objectives and assignments in building, as I am in a different time-zone then most. I am pretty sure that thats the case here, so I would like to help if need be?

first you say you want the door to be stone because "wood is rather flammable", now you say you want a wooden door and he should make one... I dont get it anymore, the current door IS made out of wood right?

'ail guild masters, if ye give me yer permission, me can start workin on sum boats in the 'arbour, just let me know 'ow big they should be! And me were wonderin, will we 'ave a guild 'all somewhere? 't should be good to be buildin that! ((I need to know: can we substract skills we levelled while not really wanting too, as I do not want my character to excell in lumberjacking, but I will need lots of wood for those boats. And if yes, I will need permission for the area where the temporary lumberyard is next to the harbor, if no, I will require wood and if that is in the chest there, I will still need permission to open it ;) you can PM me with the answer too, might be easier))

Kingdom Modifications. What Do You Wish To See?
tomahawk90 replied to Broski's topic in Asulon Roleplay Archive
Me be thinkin and me wanted to give me view of things; Firstly, we need to 'ave a notice board! Me as new dwarf have no idea where and 'ow to buy a 'ome, who me contacts and 'ow much they cost, who ye'd have to ask fer permission to use tha button fur the gate, where to apply fer tha legion, etc. We truly need that! Maybe another sign, maybe even with a job-office with signs showin' available jobs and who to send a bloody pigeon fur em, and another wall with signs fur the guilds lookin' fur new members with who to send a pigeon, so tha new dwarves can pick a job or guild and get started on helpin our nation prosper! There should definitly be an inn! Fur those new to tha city, 't be not welcoming right now. There be the gate, and then when ye be through the gate, yer forced to join a clan or there is nothin fur a dwarf to do there.Me thinks a grand hall to hold big feasts with lots 'o ale and food and to gather around fur a good bit of story tellin. Me also thinks 't should be behind but near the gate, and be past the main path into the city, as it be a central meetin' point fur long-time residents and Dwarves new to t'is city to meet and to learn the new dwarves how the kingdom works. It cud also function as a place where Dwarves can meet with the council to fur instance apply fur a 'ome, me thinks council members like ale too! And it shud be great if ye be able to hear them dwarves who are waitin' fur a dwarf to open the gate fur them, so it shud be close to tha gate and new Dwarves wont be walkin' past it. Me thinks in future there should also be some sort of inn befur the gate fur the outlanders who wish to visit but wait fur permission to enter and fur those visiting the market, but me thinks that was scheduled anyhow. (<- 't be a link!) Me was also thinkin.. There might be a truly amazin' Arena to stage good ol' tournaments! Me thinks of an octagon, with gates at 4 sides facing each other, gates like the city gate only those with permission may open. Then the Arena could 'ave one gate fur non-dwarves to enter tha arena from outside tha city, one gate opposite fur the dwarves to enter from the city, and the other two gates fur monsters! Why the two different gates? Aye, we want to show them other races we can bash their skulls any time, but we do not want all those fighters frum other races marvel at the splendor of our city do we? And it be grand that the outlander may never see the dwarf he battles exept fur in the arena, and if the dwarf thinks 'is opponent was a good fight, 'e could always seek 'im out. If not possible, me thinks the Arena should simply be outside tha city, fur we want to bash skulls frum other races, and if the Arena is marvellous enough, clans frum other races may 'ire the arena to stage their own tournaments, makin' some good Minas fur the kingdom. T'is all just me ideas. (I do not know how easy it would be to get mobs in the arena, but with the blessing of a GM it should be possible I think? Say, the kingdom should pay for these creatures to be caught (pay money to the GM) and entering the tournament costs a bit of minas to compensate for example. Going even further would be an outsider paying the king who in turn pays the GM to get mobs in on the outlanders tournament. I just dont know if its all possible, but with a lever on top of the gate which opens the gate and then pushes the mobs out with some pistons or water or another ingenious system, I think would be pretty cool. Think of the arena on Geonosis from Star Wars and the Dwarven Arena in Orzammar from Dragon Age 2, google them and you'll see) And me dont know if it be added to the religious sector, but where do we dwarves 'onor our ancestors? Me be lookin' fur an area with rooms fur tombs, and some rooms with only one tomb fur the really important ones. (think of Balin's Tomb, again, google that and you have a good idea of what Im getting at) Me be full of ideas, me hopes ye dont mind as ye asked fur 'em! -
If we are to 'elp, we need some sort of 'omes though. Me likes to have a chest to store me stuff while minin' accidents can 'appen. And will ye have a supply uf food and tools on site fur us to take frum? Im from another time zone then most, so I have to rely on chests to get my food and tools from and sketches like this and clear signs to know what to do. That said, I can be diggin fur hours if me have the tools and food. How can I find out where ye are IC? None in the capital know anything more then "near the elvish capital".. lookin at the sketches of the trade square, ye are going to put up balconies too? not sure whether the drawing means them to be, but it might be neat. and me be wondering if 50x50 is enuf and if we are to mine a 50x50 area, or an octagon? keep in mind ye lose a big chunk of space by the shape. Me thinks it be useful to get a little more information on size, so we do not mine things we should leave alone!

Out-Of-Character: Minecraft Account Name: Tomahawk90 Did you attend minecon and sign up at the LOTC booth?: No, I like games but I won't travel half the world for them. How old are you?: 21 Time-Zone/Country of Residence: GMT+1, Netherlands Do you have a good grip on the English language/good grammar?: I do. Small 2-3 Sentence Description of yourself: A friendly guy who refuses to grow up in some respects and likes many things, from going out with friends to gaming (with friends or one my own). Studies for Technical Engineer at a Dutch University, lives on his own in a house with 8 other students. Can be grumpy, but usually friendly, helpfull and patient, and a good mediator, may be a little too lazy sometimes. How much time could you be on the server weekly?: Depends greatly, my study can be very demanding at times, this ranges from 0 to 40. On average, I guess it is around 10 hours. What do you know about Roleplaying? Give a definition of what it means to you.: Roleplaying to me is taking the role of a thought-up character and playing this character the way this character would behave, without forgetting normal politeness and values towards those other real people who you are role-playing with. I have no experience, but I am assuming it will also become a synonym for "fun" in my opinion. In your own Words, describe what Metagaming and Powergaming are. Metagaming is using information obtained in OOC while playing IC, and although I have no experience, I can understand this ruins the entire idea of the game. Powergaming is doing things which are not in accordance to the behaviour which would befit your character to level up as quickly as possible, or to abuse other players by not playing good RPG and forcing an action upon them in which they have no choice of complying or not. What do you expect this server will be like?: I expect it to be a very open and friendly server from what I have seen here on the forum. My only worry is that I might meet some who are to fed up with newbies to bother helping me along when I make a mistake. My best expectations are that any one player can grow and rise in influence on the game world, and I am anxious to see what an RPG world (almost) without NPC's will be like. In fact, I like thinking up games and this could well be the game I have thought about on more than one occasion and which I always regarded as the ultimate free-style game, in which every entity of importance is a player, and every sign of civilization comes from players from buildings to political systems and commerce with no pre-settings apart from a world to play in. (I'd like to point out here that I do know random killing is not allowed and every action should be aimed towards a better gaming experience for all). What other server(s) have you played on and why did you leave them?: Only that of me and some friends/family. I have never left it, but I am looking for a new experience. Have you read, understood, and agreed to the rules?: Yes, (I may always have missed some but then I wouldnt know would I) How did you hear about us?: Well, not really, you guys popped up when I was looking for images of dwarven builds for minecraft, guess I was bound to end up here eventually. Have you voted for the Lord of the Craft on Minestatus? Which vote number were you? No, I have considered doing it and will if I find the game to my liking, I am usually against voting for something I do not know of yet whether I like it or not. What is your The Lord Of Craft forum account name?: Tomahawk90 In-Character: Character Name: Urvil What is your Race?: Dwarf (cave) Biography(This should include the history of your character and his life as well as age, appearance and personality, etc.): Urvil was born to a loving lower class family in the city of Kal'Bryst. In his early years he was a cheery chap and had many friends, who liked him for his relativly mild temper for a dwarf and his ability to prevent and work out arguments between friends, and his dwarf-like habbit to brag about any minor accomplishment he had made. He was not liked by all though, particulary those who were very keen on either food or war, as he had no interest in either of them. This, especially in combination with his love for music and the human bards who sometimes came to visit Kal'Bryst, made him some sort of outsider from time to time, but he was just as fine on his own as he was with friends. Moreover, Urvil very un-dwarf-like often dreamed about travelling with the bards and ministrels when they would leave the great dwarven city, but in truth had always been to shy and uncertain to take the big leap into the light and start on a big adventure, influenced by his family legacy of miners who had never left the city. Born into this mining family, Urvil learned to mine even before he could walk, and learned how dangerously sharp pick-axes can be when he just started learning to walk and walked straight into his fathers pickaxe which his little sister Gimalia was swinging about, giving him the only scar in his face. The scar is still to small to see if you are not as close to Urvil as he will never let anyone he does not know well get to him, and is as such a feature in his appearance only known by those closest to him. Urvil developed himself as quite an adapt miner, mining precious minerals and in time, buying his family a better plot of land, and with his father, building a new, beautiful cosy little underground home. The family did well, and Urvil was happy he had helped his family come such a long way. Unfortunatly, Urvil's life was soon to change. A local, much-travelled and wealthy Merchant preyed on his only sibling, his little sister Gimalia, whom he had always loved and kept save even though she usually did not need anyone to keep her safe and had told her brother so on more than one occasion. The merchant asked for her hand, and as she had fallen in love with this merchant, soon, everyone in the family was making preperations for the upcoming union. Urvil was supposed to be happy for Gimalia, but instead, found himself consumed with distrust of the merchant. How, he argued, could a wealthy dwarf fall in love with someone from such a low class? The only time he had spoken about this openly, he was scolded at by his family, so Urvil kept it to himself when he decided to spy on the merchant. He followed him around the city for days, listening to conversations and spying on business contracts. The longer it took for anything suspicious to happen, the more he knew that it was not love that this dwarf was feeling for his sister. Until one day, when the merchant entered a shady looking house and Urvil silently followed him. He had just started hearing on the conversation when he found out this conversation was different, it wasnt about the usual business affairs, he knew when he heard another dwarf say that all the matters discussed should not leave this house or else. And at that moment, Urvil was discovered by a former honary member of the legion, and he knew he was in trouble. Fortunatly for Urvil, the punishment of his overhearing of secret affairs of state was mild; he was cast out of the city, days before the union of his sister and the merchant, and his family had to pay such a hefty fine that they had to abandon their newly build home, and sell their only family heritage to the state, which consisted of engraved jewelry his mother wore in her hair and his fathers beard binder. His father, who had always held honor in high regard, refused to say his only son goodbye, and Urvil could not bear looking at the devestated face of his mother, or the disappointed face of his sister. Without looking over his shoulder, he walked into the caves with the supplies he would need to set up a home, forced to go on the adventure he dreamed about but never had a reason to go on. He swore that he would make his parents proud and, once, come back to the city with a vast amount of wealth surpassing that of that poch merchant. Unfortunatly, live in the caves wasn't all that comfortable, and the doubts and fears of Urvil soon got the better of him. All he worked for and all he valued he had thrown away in an act, he realised now, driven by jealousy of the merchant, who did muster the courage once to travel, and the happiness his family experienced when they knew this merchant would make their lives better when previously, this was Urvil's accomplishment. One moment he would just sit in a corner and do nothing more then being numb, the next he was swinging his axe at the numerous summonings of Iblees who inhabited the cave in an attempt to cool the burning fire of shame and anger. It never helped for long, as many dwarves can blaim the servants of Iblees for misfortunes in their lives, but Urvil couldn't as of yet, he had only himself to blaim. But in time, Urvil accepted his faith, and accepted that he had been wrong and started to figure out a way to make a return to his family and the city the best way he could. He build himself a more permanent shelter near a lava lake, had his own little mushroom farm, ocasionally killed skeletons and zombies and kept any valuables they might have on them, and kept mining for precious ores to sell once he would have enough and once enough time had passed for his crime to be forgotten or at least, forgiven. Then, just months ago, he noticed small changes to his surroundings. The first clue he got was the slow rising of the lava lake. It started gradually, but as time passed, the lava rose faster and faster and made Urvil move his shelter up a ledge. On this ledge, he noticed another change. The encounters with skeletons and zombies grew more and more frequent, and once, he could have sworn he heard a very low rumbling across the caves, a deep voice murmering in some language he did not want to know. When the lava almost reached to his new shelter, he had abandoned mining almost completly, only doing what was necessary to craft himself new weaponry and repair his shelter, as he was to busy fighting of the hordes of monsters trying to cross the ledge. Then, one morning, when he heard the mumbling voice again but much louder, and he saw a vile colored gass swirling around the cave, he knew it was time to leave the place he called home once again. This time, he wasn't really regretful about it, as he knew he had important news and the city of Kal'Bryst might just forgive him if he told them about the increase in numbers of the monsters in the nearby caves. During the two day long journey to the city, the number of monsters Urvil encountered slowly declined. Until he reached the far end of the cave system leading towards the city. He could hear screaming, sounds of battle, smoke swirled through the caves and the scent of burning wood and flesh and poisonous gass soon became an all-around stink. When he could finally see Kal'Bryst in the distance, at first he did not believe what he saw. During his time in the caves, his eyes which were once a beautiful golden color, slowly turned to amber, adepted at the darkness of the place he had to call home. But after letting his eyes adjust to the sudden chance, he could clearly tell that what he thought was right: he could see a city completly engulfed with flames, with all kinds of monsters he had never even heard of before climbing the walls and hovering over the city and killing the harmless dwarves who ran from the city trying to reach the caves. Dwarves that were not killed by the monsters died a horrific dead by breathing in the poisenous gasses that were hanging around the city as if it was surrounded by grassy fields damping from the early morning dew. He knew that by the time he would get to the city, there would be nothing more left then burning piles of ash and dead bodies surrounded by a monsters, and realised that he would never be able to repend for his sin, never be able to apologize for his actions to his family and that the last time he was near them, he had not looked at them in the arrogant and foolish dream that he would see them again and make them proud once more. Urvil did not collapse to the ground, nor did he scream or run. He just stood there, watching the city burning and the dwarves being slaughtered by the monstrous horde. He stood there for maybe a full day, until there was nothing more happening than the occasional building collapsing, and he turned round to travel to the nearest city. Some cities were still able to welcome Urvil, but never for long as the monstrous horde seemed to follow him everywhere he went, some cities would be ablaze when Urvil would see them and he would have to move quickly to stay ahead of the toxic gass which was spreading everywhere. It didnt take long for the whole world to understand that this wasnt just aimed at one city, nor one nation or one race, the undead had come to destroy all of their known world. By chance, Urvil got on a boat bound to sail anywhere but the world they left behind, and frankly, Urvil could not care. All he loved had been destroyed, and he had himself to blame that he did not even have a chance to say goodbye or know how the lives of his familymembers had changed since he left them. After a long time of sailing, the ship landed on the shores of a new world, and with it, many other ships landed, and although none had his family on board, one carried family heritage jewelry which was sold long ago. Urvil has slowly taken up life, knowing that this new world is his one and probably only chance of starting fresh, and doing things differently. At the age of 124, he is in the best years of a Dwarf's live and is physically fit and strong, with his upper-body muscles being quite impressive from all the mining and digging he did in his live. His long black hair, tamed with his family heritage jewelry so it won't be in his way when mining, already shows hints of grey and his face does not show signs of his misfortunes, except for the small lines around his eyes of to much pondering over his too many doubts mistakes and fears in the deep caves of Kal'Bryst and the small white line running from under his nose vertically over his lips and chin. He will never let his ego get in his way again if it may ever recover from the blows it has received, and the thin white line on his chin is a lasting reminder of that promise to his sister, the jewelry in his beard a lasting reminder of that same promise to his parents. Urvil still dreams. In his dreams, a ship bearing the merchants seal arrives to this new world, lands at the docks, and he can see his mother walking from the deck, his father, greeting him with a slight nod of his head, and his sister unboarding the ship with the grace of a noble dwarf, smiling at him. Unfortunatly for Urvil, this dream haunts him not only during the night, but anytime he does not keep himself busy, and he suffers from it greatly. Your characters ambitions: To find peace with himself and to, once, become someone of importance to this new world, making his father proud. On the short-term, Urvil needs to find a new home and friends, having lost everyone and never having been able to say goodbye or apologize for his bad behaviour he is not easy to befriend and will not easily admit he needs friends, though he knows deep inside that he does. Out in the Wilds, your character comes across a small cottage. Outside, there appears to be an elf struggling combat with two bandits. What does your character do? Shouting to the bandits while drawing his battle-axe; "leave the elf alone you scumbags, or else!" The bandits look up at the charging dwarf and choose to run as Urvil chases them for a bit and then puts back his axe. "Thanks a lot for interfering", the elf says while dusting of his clothes. Urvil nods and while continuing his way without looking at the elf murmours "if it would have been three of them, you would have never seen me so skip the thankfulness." Your character walks up to a shop in a quiet market. "Hello, my good sir!" says the shop owner. "What may I help you with today?" How does your character answer? looking up at the merchant: "thank you for your kindness, I will let you know if I find anything that might interest me."
