  1. A man in a Flaming Rose tabard approaches the billboard, nailing on his reply to the poster, placing his bid: "800 minas."
  2. “...I do.” “Then rise, soldier, and receive the new bands of your rank.” The soldier rose slowly, turning to the ensign to his right, taking hold of four green-colored bands. He slide them on over his arms and chainmail, fastening them at his shoulder and wrists. He wheels about and faces the Grandmaster, who stands upon a platform, surrounded by the fellow members of the Order. “Welcome to the Order, Footman.” The Grandmaster speaks in a rather gruff manner, clicking his heels together and stiffening his posture. He lifts his right hand and pounds it to his chest, extending a closed fist outwards in salute to the newly christened footman. He finishes the salute with a commanding tone. “Glory to Kaedrin.” The men around him promptly follow suit, pounding their fists to their hearts and extending it out. In a chorus of voices, the hall sounds with, “Glory to Kaedrin!” “Glory to Kaedrin.” The Footman speaks, returning the salute known so well to those who called themselves Kaedreni. The ceremony closes with the words of the Grandmaster, “Saint Owyn guide you.” and the Order members begin to file out. The Order welcomed the new men of Recruitment Cycle 28B in their own way – many pat their new members on the back and commend them on their efforts, whilst others simply head out to resume their duties. They would attend a feast later in the evening, in commemoration of both the new Enlisted and the celebration of their latest kill – a Cockatrice. The beast was slain by the Order’s hand, trapped in a mineshaft and pinned against its walls by a ballista bolt, finally finished by the charging rally of Flaming Roses, hacking at the beast until it lay dead and limp in the canyons of Eruthos. Its head was severed and transported back to Kaer Angren, the soldiers permitted the rest of the carcass to carve out their own trophies. The beast’s head was mounted on the walls of the mess hall, and several members cheered as they caught sight of it. It was a wonderful kill, and it earned the Recruitment Cycle their oaths. The bustle of the mess hall soon settled down as the tabards of the Flaming Rose found their seats, turning their attention to the head platform, where the Grandmaster stood. “Men of the Order, servants of God and the patrons of Saint Owyn, we gather in this hall for a dual purpose – to celebrate the slaughter of this beast of the world. Without the arms of the Rose, this beast would have terrorized the countryside, and saw good and honest folk ripped apart and turned to stone. The arms of the Order, the arms of the Flaming Rose, denied this beast such pleasure, and it is here that we drink and feast to such a service. We performed our duty to Humanity – every man in this hall did. Recruitment Cycle twenty-nine B, who had fought beside their fellow Roses with a heart and passion that is only seen in men that wear our tabard.” The Grandmaster lifts his goblet and clears his throat, “Glory to Kaedrin, and Saint Owyn guide you, men of the Flaming Rose!” “Glory to Kaedrin!”
  3. Each morning started with the same sounds: the constant hammering of a mallet, the shouting of a few engineers, and wagons moving materials back and forth, filling in the pieces of the new keep with huge flagstones. The Architect in charge of it all worked with incredible diligence, his plans set firmly in his mind and his priorities set straight. Angren was a fine keep, but it had no room to fit the growing Order. There had to be expansions, and so by the Grandmaster’s decree, they set to the construction of a sister-keep, complete with a training courtyard, siegeworks, mess hall, and the infamous Chivay gallows, a personal preference of death for the successor Order. The Grandmaster woke from his sleep rather early, and after his prayers, came upon the ramparts of the Angren citadel. There he watched the construction progress; there he saw many an Order patrol along the lower ramparts; there he saw Decurions shouting drill commands under the watch of the Disciplinary, and Primuses leaded by example with the new Recruitment Cycle of Unoathed. He saw the silver bands of the Ensigns down in the valley, leading countryside patrols with a few select men. From up there he saw the Flaming Rose – in every man’s heart and on every man’s chest. He saw what the Order was becoming… And for what could’ve been mistaken as an anomaly… the Grandmaster smiled.

  13. The workers haul stone and mortar about the bustling new city of Petrus. Hammers clang against metal and wood, driving spikes together. Buildings rise, trees are chopped down for furnaces. It is truly a magnificent metropolis. As the workers continue their work, and their wives bake sustenance for the evening spread, the bells of Saint Peter begin to ring. Pigeons burst from the tower of the coop, fluttering about as their feathers fall gently to the throngs below. Wiping sweat from their disheveled miens, the laborers raise their faces to stare towards the newly built church. They look to their overseers, who then grant to them their assent. They may leave. A crowd begins to gather upon the steps of Saint Peter’s, as the masses huddle within the wooden walls and press together, looking for a seat. Yet the central aisle is kept clear. Standing near the altar is the Emperor himself, Robert Chivay. As both head of the land and faith of humanity, he would preside over the proceedings on this day. He wears a crown of gold upon his head, yet is garbed in a robe of white signifying his status as leader of the ministry. He scans a grave eye over the crowd, assessing them for any signs of unruliness. Standing near the altar, out of sight, are several loyal men of the Emperor’s sentries. Their steel is not bared, but they are ready to draw their swords at the slightest threat to their sovereign. As this is a religious ceremony, the Emperor’s Caerngard are too dressed in a formal white, their traditional hats discarded. They too, watch for any sign of disturbance. It is assured that there will be no misfortune to any. The doors to the church open, and a young deacon leads the procession inwards. He carries with him a carrier of incense, which he swings back and forth, as if it were a pendulum. The sweet smell of the spice soon fills the stuffy air within the church. Following directly behind him are four priests of the Reformed Communion, all raising their voices in a Flexio hymn to the Creator. “Dies irae, dies illa, solvet saeculum in favilla, teste Horen et Julia.” Following after this group of four is yet another young deacon, carrying reverently with gloved hands a gilded staff, topped with the Lorraine cross. It is the patriarchal ferula, the symbol of a leader of the church’s power. The deacon eyes his charge warily, ever watchful not to drop it. “Quantus tremor est futurus, quando iudex est venturus, cuncta stricte discussurus!” The people within the church all stare as the very center of the procession enters, a man unclothed save for a cloth around his waist. It appears amusing to some, a man dressed as one of the orcs! It is the priest Cordal DeHerendul, having given up all but the most necessary of clothing. He strides down the center aisle, without shoes. His feet are muddy and cut from the unpaved roads outside. Yet his eyes are alight with regality, he bears himself with both humility and with determination. “Tuba mirum spargens sonum per sepulcra regionum, coget omnes ante thronum.” Behind the disheveled priest walks another priest, holding the Holy Scrolls. The crowd gasps, for such an artifact is taken out only in the most important of ceremonies. The scrolls seem almost to glow in the light of the cathedral. The paper is ancient and faded as an outcome of this. If it is possible, the man bearing this relic is even more careful with that which he bears. “Mors stupebit et natura, cum resurget creatura, iudicanti responsura.” At the heels of this last priest another deacon follows, splashing holy water from the nearby river over the crowd. It has been sanctified in accordance with all the traditions. The procession makes its way to the altar, under which is a relic of Saint Peter himself, a lock of his snow white hair. “Liber scriptus proferetur, in quo totum continetur, unde mundus iudicetur.” At the front of the altar, the deacon walks to the side of the altar, bowing as he passes the Emperor. The pot of incense is placed at the side of the wall as the deacon stands at attention, hands clasped in front of his chest as he poises himself with his back to the wall on the right side of the church. The choir of four priests takes its place before the altar, on the right hand side. They do not step onto the raised dais. Their raised voices continue to fill the cathedral. “Iudex ergo cum sedebit, quidquid latet apparebit: nil inultum remanebit.” Behind them steps the deacon, in hushed reverence as he bears the patriarchal ferula. It’s lorraine cross shines brightly in the cathedral as he holds it horizontally. The deacon steps to the side of Emperor Robert after giving him a graceful bow. “Quid sum miser tunc dicturus? quem patronum rogaturus? cum vix iustus sit securus.” Finally the disheveled and humbled Cordal steps forward, dropping to the floor in front of the dais. He prostrates himself before the Emperor, awaiting his due ceremony. “Rex tremendae maiestatis, qui salvandos salvas gratis, salva me, fons pietatis.” From behind Cordal processes the clergyman holding the Holy Scrolls. He gives a deep bow to Emperor Robert before walking past him, gently setting the scrolls down in the very center of the altar. He then picks up a small pillow, upon which sits a signet ring. The priest then takes his place at the right hand of Robert, as the deacon bearing the patriarchal ferula takes his place at Robert’s left. “Lacrimosa dies illa, qua resurget ex favilla. iudicandus homo reus: huic ergo parce Deus.” The final deacon, holding aloft the holy water and it’s brush, bows to Robert as he ceases his watering of the audience. He then proceeds past Robert, to the left side of the cathedral. The young man takes his place against the left side of the back wall, hands clasped in front of him. He adopts a pose identical to that of the deacon on the right side of the back wall. The Emperor awaits for the choir to stop singing, and they finish with a final verse. “Pie Horen Domine, dona eis requiem. Amen.” All is silent within the church, save for a few coughs expelled from the tired and dusty lungs of workmen. Emperor Robert looks down upon the lowly form of Cordal DeHerendul, studying him for a moment. “Rise.” he states. Cordal steps to his feet, keeping his head bowed in the presence of the sovereign of humanity. “In nomine Deus, et Divinum, et Lux Sancti.” speaks the Emperor. “Father Cordal DeHerendul. You have come here stripped of all clothing and worldly possession. Do you renounce all ties from that which is mortal?” “I do.” “Do you so swear to uphold the faith against all its enemies, be it from the heathens of other races, or the heretics that lurk within?” “I do.” “Will you faithfully serve the Emperor of humanity, who is sole leader of both church in state, as set down in the accords by Basil of Sabris and Simon of Kavaz?” “I will.” “Do you so swear to provide charity to those in need, and keep no undue amount of wealth for yourself, serving the people, and not just the church?” “I swear.” “Do you so swear to be honest, and to never tell a lie unless at the utmost of need?” “I do.” “Step forward and be cleansed.” Cordal steps forward, as Robert holds his head over a large bowl. The emperor picks up a cup and pours it over the head of Cordal, allowing the water to drip from his face and down his beard into the bowl. Robert then proceeds to mop Cordal’s face of any moisture. “You have been cleansed of any worldly taint remaining in your soul by this holy water. It has washed away your name, as well. You are no longer Cordal DeHerendul.” The priest that was once Cordal nods, patiently waiting. Emperor Robert dips his thumb into a shallow wooden bowl of scented oil, making the sign of the Lorraine cross on his forehead. “This physical sign of the Creator, shining now upon your forehead, marks you as bearer of the weight of His word. Within you He is more present than in any other man.” The newly anointed priest nods. Robert turns his back to him for a moment, before turning back around with a splendid robe of gold and white. It is the robe of the High Patriarch. Robert moves around the anointed priest, draping him in the gilded raiment. “And now I grant you the patriarchal ferula, by which you have the authority to grant out punishments and mete out the penances you have assigned to those sinners.” The young deacon deftly kneels, presenting the ferula with upturned palms to the raimented and anointed priest. He accepts it, grasping the ferula with his left hand. “I also present you with the Ring of Everard, by which your authority over all men may be known.” The other deacon steps forward, holding out the pillow to Emperor Robert. Robert picks up the ring set upon the pillow and places it on the ring finger of the anointed priest’s right hand. The ring is engraved with the image of the Lorraine Cross, with beams of light shooting from it and a crown over top of it. Around the edge of the ring are the words “Thomas I Pat Max”. Robert grasps a mitre from the table, one of pure white. He moves to stand behind and below the anointed priest, whose back is turned to the cathedral. Robert places the mitre upon the clergyman’s head, pronouncing: “You are Thomas Primus, High Patriarch of the Reformed Communion.” Thomas turns to face the audience, ferula in one hand and ring bestowed upon the other. His gaze is stern, yet benevolent. He is unrecognizable from the poor creature that strode humbled into the doorway just minutes before. Oren had a High Patriarch

  15. Sounds like a typical liberal vs. conservative argument. The Nations have worked to establish themselves as significant powers, both politically, militarily, economically, and population-wise. They have, through all these factors, maintained their power, and I feel are deserving of these "special" treatments you cry so much foul over. It's not easy to run a nation, no matter the size. There are many factions that you have to deal with and decisions to make. Of course, your special groups too witness these problems, but the nations do it on a grander scale (And not even you can deny that, Blundermore!). Earners get rewards. #HardcoreConservative. And to respond to Narthok. From what I've seen from you, you've been around for most of the Temporary maps. I've been through four of them so far and I can tell you that nothing significant ever really gets done on a temp map. There's no point in planning balls or festivals on a map that we're going to leave in a few weeks. Just silly!

  19. House Chivay of Rivia House Chivay was a House descended from the simple farm-folk of a faraway continent whose name has long been forgotten. Living in the town of Rivia, the House was stuck in its status of Commoner until the rising stars of Peter and Thomas Chivay, whose loyalty and duty to the Kingdom of Renatus had granted them a Barony, elevating the House to nobility at last. The Chivays were appointed as co-barons in the newly christened Barony of Rivia, in the County of Ildon, and their new liege-lord would soon see their worth and encourage them greatly, going so far as to even offer them positions as Dukes within his new Kingdom of Adunia far to the north. The Chivays, resilient and loyal to the true Kingdom instead of some upstart with no true claim, denied this offer and soon became aware of Count Elendil’s mentality for “freedom”. It was because of this that the Chivays, who had now solidified the formation of the young Order of the White Rose, sought new land away from the grasp of the rebellious Adunian Count. They found it in a barony owned by the Duchy of Auvergne, and quickly sought to its acquisition. The Barony of Krak du Rhoswen (Formerly known as Ceru) was situated on the Holy Lands, and housed a magnificent fortress carved into the mountain. It was primarily in Krak du Rhoswen that House Chivay would earn its fame, serving first Renatus and then the Holy Oren Empire, providing both loyalty and effectiveness in their service. Becoming rather close with the Emperor, the Chivay Barons were taken in at his side and were granted certain privileges to be held to strengthen the White Rose’s influence over the ill-becoming town of Crestfall. Eventually, by order of the Emperor Godfrey himself, the town of Crestfall was ordered to be purged, and it was the White Rose that acted as the Imperial Hand of judgement. Asulon acted as a fledgling period for House Chivay, their status remaining relatively stagnant. It was in the realm of Elysium and Kalos that House Chivay was duly rewarded for its service to the Empire. Staving off internal threats by organizing a coalition of Dwarves and Orcs against the bandit band known as the Syndicate and the Teutonic Order, House Chivay proved its ingenious use at diplomacy and military prowess, utilizing the full effect of the RUD Coalition to defeat the combined efforts of the Syndicate and Teutonic Order. The resulting victory shined a very favorable light on the Chivay Barons, and they were soon elevated to Marquis, with Thomas Chivay appointed as the Empire’s Grand Marshal. The House and the White Rose then participated in several conflicts throughout Elysium and Kalos, leading most major battles under the leadership of the new Grand Marshal. The White Rose and House Chivay became prominent members of influence as they headed into the new land of Anthos. Anthos gave House Chivay the most open-ended opportunity to prove their worth. First being stationed in the capital of Abresi, the House petitioned to the Emperor to be granted a March on the Empire’s western border, to better guard against any external threats. This request was quickly granted, and added with a bonus: Peter would become a Duke, and the land they requested formally recognized as the Duchy of Westerland. In was in Westerland that construction of their new citadel, Ard Kerrack, began; and it was here that the eventual Kingdom of Kaedrin would sprout, created by the Emperor Godfrey I Horen and granted to Peter Chivay for his House’s eternal loyalty and service to the Holy Oren Empire. The Kingdom of Kaedrin became one of the largest Kingdoms in the Empire, encompassing two duchies and finally connecting the Empire to a western coastline. The land was gained after the Orenian-Malinorian War, in which the once-sovereign nation of Malinor was subjugated as a City-State, and all its territorial possessions south of the Yaruga River was ceded to Oren. House Chivay worked tirelessly to establish the Kingdom, and were seen as the prime models of good Kaedreni culture. This working of culture inspired many Houses to rise under the banner of Kaedrin – the most prominent being House Briarwood. The outbreak of the Oren-Dwarf war of Anthos sparked a final straw in both the Emperor’s patience and that of his loyal vassals. After the devastating victory at the Battle of the Crossing – when it seemed as if the Empire had no opposition in their conquest of the Dwarves of Urguan – the Emperor, House Chivay, the White Rose, and several other lords and vassals decided that the Realm of Anthos was trivial to their overall pursuits. And so departing from the port of Castern in western Kaedrin, House Chivay joined in what would be known as the Exodus – leaving Anthos in favor of a new land, one that would allow the Empire to fully exert its power. The Exodus landed in the Realm of Aeldin, and it was here that House Chivay once again proved itself. Being led by their now aging King, Peter was appointed the Marshal of Imperial forces in Aeldin, and participated in the Heartlander Campaigns. Proving once again his martial prowess, Peter quickly conquered the Heartlands and established a safe and stable chunk of territory from which their new Empire – The Empire of Horos – could operate. House Chivay was eventually granted ownership of several provinces in the Empire of Horos, including Agathoria Superior and Inferior, Banardia Inferior, Lundis Aquilia, and Banardia Dividus. The House expanded rapidly in this time, and were soon seen as the prime power under the Emperor. It was this effectiveness in governance and their unending service to the Empire that granted them their next opportunity – independence. The Emperor of Horos, Owyn I Horen, had requested Peter Chivay to return to the Realm of Anthos. The Emperor felt that their conquests in Aeldin were dying down, and that Anthos must be saved from the nearly endless political turmoil that had plagued Oren since their Exodus. And so Owyn bestowed the Imperial titles of all his holdings in Anthos unto Peter and his descendants. In one ceremony, Peter became the King of Kaedrin, King of Salvus, King of Seventis and King of Renatus. His Emperor title would need to be earned in Anthos, but the House was swelled with prestige and would no doubt prove their worth once again. The House’s official return to Anthos marked a significant day in Human history. Not only was the Human realm again without a sovereign, but the Realm of Anthos was being savagely torn apart by a series of storms and natural disasters. It was in this chaos and confusion that Peter staked his bestowed claim, and was crowned Emperor by the High Pontiff, solidifying his reign as one under the guidance of God. But the Empire, for now only in name, was no less unstable – brother was fighting brother, class struggles seemed to tear the common people apart, and grievances and demands were being made on every side. Peter, ever the crafty statesman capable of excellent delegation, did just that – reformed the Privy Council to include his capable and trusted advisors, establishing a Viceroy to act as the word of the Emperor in his absence. Afterwards, he enacted a series of military reforms to help stabilize the discontent realm, and once he was well into his reign, began to press the Empire’s advantage onto the other races. Officially being known as the Imperium Tertius – The Third Empire – the Emperor upheld his agreement with the High Elves of Haelun’or, known as the Crimson-Silver Concordat, and re-established it in an official alliance. Soon after, an insult by both a faction known as Snow Elves and the Grand King of Urguan ushered forth a call for war. With overwhelming support, the Empire sacked the Snow Elven city in a particularly brutal manner, nearly razing the entire city to the ground. The Dwarves, too, suffered under the arms of the Imperium, and were forced to call in a coalition of Orcs, Snow Elves, and Teutons to combat the Empire’s strength. Meanwhile, the internal struggle of the Church of the True Faith became one that demanded action, and with the help of the Crown Prince, the Church of the Reformed Faith was established, enforcing the old Imperial system of Caesaropapism, declaring the Emperor as the new Head of the Faith. The war would drag on for over a decade, and leadership of the war would pass on from Peter to his nephew Robert. Peter, old in age and no doubt burdened by the governance of such a vast empire, finally perished peacefully. Robert took his place and was crowned as Emperor, and the vassals of the Empire were re-affirmed of their loyalties to their new liege – His Imperial Majesty, Emperor Robert Primus Aeldinicus Chivay. Robert sought to end this long war of attrition with the Dwarves, for more pressing matters were becoming apparent. Settling for a peace with the nation of Urguan, Robert set his gaze on the splinter factions that claimed themselves independent Human Sovereignties – primarily the nation of Seventis. Robert, under the claim to protect the Imperium’s authority and representative as the Empire of Humanity, declared the nation of Seventis and all its inhabitants fugitives, and along with their Silver Allies, work to eradicate their ilk from all the Realms that the races of the world may inhabit. House Members First Generation Gerrit Chivay – Founder of the Common House Chivay of Rivia. Born with auburn and green eyes. Found a profession in the town firstly as a blacksmith but then as a farmer, raising his children on the outskirts of the city, just beyond the city walls. He married Christina Pendon, a woman of no significant rank, and sired four children. Gerrit died of old age at 78. His Children Edward Chivay – First born son of Gerrit and Christina. Born with brown hair and hazel eyes. Edward was raised under the close wing of his father, learning the life of farming along with the rest of his siblings. He married Maria Latone, the daughter of another farmstead, and doubled the size of the Chivay estate as a result. They sired only one child, named Foltest. Edward died of old age at 71. Alvin Chivay – The second born son of Gerrit and Christina. Alvin was born prematurely and with a dangerous delivery, leaving him deathly sick as a result. His sickness would grow into a crippling feebleness as he progressed into his youth. Alvin died from his feebleness at the tender age of 7. Zulton Chivay – Known colloquially as the First Sparrow (a title now passed down to Chivays who become capable soldiers). Born with auburn hair and brown eyes. Zulton was levied into the Rivian levy at the start of the First Mahakon War, serving on behalf of his family. His potential quickly exceeded his peers, and at the war’s end decided to pursue the life of a sellsword. He married Eudora Breckin, a woman with blood relation to dwarves, and sired one child, named Yarpen. Zulton died on the field of battle at age 44. Traena Chivay – The first and only daughter of Gerrit and Christina. Born with dirty blonde hair and hazel eyes. Traena learned the housekeeping duties her mother was accustomed to performing, and was molded into a capable housewarming woman. Traena was married off to Haggard Aenon, giving the Chivay family a considerable dowry that allowed them to expand their estates once again. She bore two children of the Aenon dynasty – Vergen and Santia. Traena died from old age at 82. Second Generation (of the direct Imperial Line) Foltest Chivay – Known colloquially as the King of Temeria. Only son of Edward and Maria. Born with brown hair and grey eyes. Blessed with an outstanding vigor, Foltest enjoyed a happy youth of some luxury (the Chivay estate by now had grown to a servant-sufficient farmland, leaving the Chivays themselves to overall management). Volunteering as a levy and later campaigning in what he would call the realm of Temeria, Foltest returned to the estate with a considerable amount of riches, including a crown. He married Isabella Ramprin on his return to Rivia, and allocated enough wealth to purchase a manor within the city proper. Later in his years, Foltest would develop dementia and become senile, proclaiming himself as an actual king of the unknown realm of Temeria. Foltest died at the incredible age of 162, living to witness the current generation of Chivays and their ascension to Royal status. His Children Henry Chivay – First born son of Foltest and Isabella. Born with blonde hair and blue eyes. Educated (at the expense of his father) about matters of stewardship, Henry was much more reserved than his father and brother. Henry had a very likable personality and participated frequently in the town meetings, eventually elevating himself high enough to be elected as mayor for a term. Henry brought the Chivay name into the homes of the people of Rivia, and the House became a popular faction within the city. He married Catherine Quinn, a woman of far higher rank than his own (out of Henry’s own duplicitous tactics, some say), and sired two children. Henry died at the hands of a nonhuman uprising (known as the Rivian Massacre) at the age of 50. Henselt Chivay – Known colloquially as the Sparrow’s Beak. Born with auburn hair and blue eyes. Henselt was a bear of a man, whose loud-mouthed temper became a defining factor in describing the Chivay family. Serving as the Garrison Commander of Rivia during his brother’s term as Mayor, Henselt developed a reputation as a harsh but effective leader. Oftentimes the soldiers took to calling him the Sparrow’s Beak, on account of his constant pecking at their faults, and Henselt took the title with pride instead of anger, even going as far as naming his axe (an heirloom still in possession of the Imperial Line today) after his new title. He married Adda Strago and sired three children. Henselt, after the Rivian Massacre, secured passage for Peter and Thomas Chivay away from Rivia and towards what they would discover to be Asulon. Henselt died of gout at the age of 106. Christina Chivay – The only daughter of Foltest and Isabella. Born with blonde hair and green eyes. Christina, like her brother Henry, was also tutored in stewardship, and took a great interest in the management of money. In her adulthood, she would become a near-master of accounts, and nearly double the assets of the Chivay estate in Rivia and later commission a manor to be constructed in Asulon as a summer residence for the House. She was married to Karen Konmar and bore two children of the Konmar dynasty – Krom and Sydna. Christina died of poor health at the age of 48. Second Generation (of the indirect Imperial Line) Third Generation (of the direct Imperial Line) Peter Chivay – Known as the Restorer; The King in the West. First born son of Henry and Catherine. Born with blonde hair and blue eyes. Peter, along with his brother Thomas, had witnessed the Rivian Massacre and the death of their father by nonhuman hands. Fleeing to Asulon by ship, he joined the Kingdom of Renatus under the bannerforce of House Silverblade. Quickly rising in rank, Peter became the Commander of the entire Silverblade Bannerforce, and was later given a position as a Captain in the Kingdom’s navy. An all-around experienced man, Peter was well liked and a very capable leader. He founded – along with his brother, Thomas, and two colleagues Velwyn Ashford and Baldir Toov – the Order of the White Rose and resigned his position as a Silverblade bannerman, taking up full activity within the Order. Negotiating with the then Lord Arturos “Axl” Elendil, they were granted a Barony which Peter decided to name Rivia, in honor of their origins. Peter then became the Patriarch of the newly formed Noble House Chivay of Rivia. Later relinquishing his oaths to Arturos, Peter, with the help of Lord Edmond Brunswick, purchased the fortress of Ceru and renamed it Krak du Rhoswen. Peter then arranged for the now Emperor Godfrey to establish House Chivay and its Barony of Krak du Rhoswen as subjects under Imperial Immediacy, making them direct vassals to the Emperor. Their arrival in Anthos saw Peter as a Marquis (due to the Order’s efforts on the isles of Kalos and Elysium), and in the year 1408, Peter was crowned the King of the newly formed Kingdom of Kaedrin. Peter participated in several more wars and campaigns for the Empire, and finally joined the Exodus, leaving with his House and the Emperor to the faraway land of Aeldin. Peter then became the Marshal of the Empire of Horos under Horen V, and conducted several campaigns in Aeldin on behalf of the new Empire. He married Aelf Omalin and sired one son. Later in his years, Peter returned to Anthos to carry on the legacy of Oren and restore the Empire. Succeeding, Peter was crowned Emperor and formed the Imperium Tertius (The Third Empire). Restructuring the governmental system, Peter enacted a great deal of reforms and once again unified the Human nations under one banner – The Sparrow’s banner. Peter, despite his lionhearted attitude and equally vigorous lifestyle, succumbed to old age, and died peacefully at age 98. His Children Castor Chivay – Only son of Peter and Aelf. Castor was a promising boy, shaped and molded much like his father, even in looks. He spent most of his life in Aeldin, campaigning beside his cousin, Robert, and his father. Castor, to the great surprise and tragedy of everyone, died in battle at age 21 during the Heartlander Campaigns, trampled under a cavalry charge led by himself and Robert. Thomas Chivay – Known as the Racist; the Butcher of Crestfall. Born with auburn hair and blue eyes. Thomas accompanied his older brother to Asulon, and for a time was among the ranks of the Silverblade forces. Eventually, though, Thomas left the service to explore north, disappearing for nearly a decade (this time is known only as the Lost Years, as Thomas never explained where or what he did). Returning to his brother and becoming acquainted with their two new colleagues, Thomas helped found the Order of the White Rose and was appointed as its Master and Commander. He gained renown for helping to eradicate a nest of Frost Witches, assisting in the killing of their Brood Mother, Brunhylde; and developed an infamy when he ordered a White Rose patrol to slaughter any citizens of Crestfall that were in the streets, giving him the dread title of the Butcher. Granted the title of Grand Marshal of Oren, Thomas was awarded a spot on the Privy Council. He married Lynesse Hightower and sired triplets. When the Kingdom of Kaedrin was formed, Thomas was declared its Crown Prince, granted the Duchy of Korath, and appointed its Steward. Thomas participated in the Inquisitional Occupation of Kingston and its resulting purge. He acted as Marshal during the Subjugation of Malinor and the Oren-Dwarf War. After the Battle of Nation’s Crossing, Thomas developed gout in his foot and was forced to walk with a cane. As the years progressed, his disease worsened, and he eventually gave way under the pain, dying of gout on the ships of the Exodus at the age of 58. His Children Robert Chivay – The first triplet of Thomas and Lynesse. Born with auburn hair and green eyes. Robert was fostered by his Godmother Empress Ari Horen in the Imperial Palace at Abresi. During his teens he left the care of Abresi and participated in a series of Monster Hunts under the Marked Men. He left with his House and Emperor during the Exodus and campaigned in Aeldin. Granted a governorship of the province of Agathoria Superior, Robert established a considerable amount of estates in his name, increasing the assets of the House. He married Vittoria Horen and sired three children with her, but later in the Fringe ordered her execution after she was charged and found guilty of treason, adultery and witchcraft. Robert was the first to return to Anthos and the Fringe, securing the ground work for his uncle’s arrival and restoration of the Empire. Robert was declared the Imperium Tertius’ Crown Prince and helped manage the endless bureaucracy of an Empire of this size. He returned to Aeldin for an extended period to help quell a rebellion in his former province of Agathoria Superior, granting him the title Aeldinicus. Robert also sought to reform the Church of the True Faith, which had since their Exodus become lethargic, decadent and corrupt. With the help of key reformers, Robert managed to bring the Church underneath the Empire once again, and make official the new caesaropapist Church of the Reformed Communion. He re-married Constance Briarwood and was later crowned Emperor after the death of his uncle, Peter. Edward Chivay – Second triplet of Thomas and Lynesse. Born with light brown hair and blue eyes. Edward, as a child, was a very callous and witty boy. Ambitious almost from birth, he was embittered to be only a few minutes off from being the heir to his father’s titles. Tutored under the Lord Chancellor of Kaedrin, Hadrien de Sarkozy, Edward became a very intelligent boy, having a great knowledge of politics and matters of state. He joined the Exodus and became a pupil under the mentorship of Velwyn Ashford, then known as Lucien. His experiences in Aeldin changed Edward’s personality into a more jovial person, throwing away his embittered attitude towards his brother. He married Rose de Sarkozy and sired three children – Edmund, Adrian and Richard. Rosalie Chivay – The final triplet of Thomas and Lynesse. Born with red hair and green eyes, she was almost an identical copy to her mother in appearance. Tutored under Hadrien de Sarkozy and then under Lilianna Ashford, Rosalie too became a very intelligent girl, even learning and mastering the talent of tailoring. Rosalie did not join the Exodus to Aeldin, and instead chose to remain in Anthos, living in a tumultuous world of political turmoil and social chaos. Upon the Exodus’ return, and her uncle crowned Emperor, Rosalie was once again a Princess of high regard. Her pursuits in tailoring marked many of the new fashions worn throughout the cities of the Imperium. Third Generation (of the indirect Imperial Line) Fourth Generation (of the direct Imperial Line) Emma Chivay – First daughter of Robert and Vittoria. Born with brown hair and brown eyes. Emma was born in Aeldin and was the last child of Vittoria and Robert. Declared illegitimate after the annulment of Vittoria and Robert’s marriage, Emma was later legitimized once again by Robert, who claimed that she had no involvement in the plots of her mother and that Emma was in fact wholeheartedly a product of Robert and not some other lover. Edmund Chivay – First born son of Edward and Rose. Born with auburn hair and green eyes. Edmund was born in Aeldin and served as a page in the Imperial court. As he aged, he became a squire to Robert but later renounced his desire for knighthood after Robert himself self-revoked his knighthood. Participating in Marked trials under the guidance of Robert and Adeon the Hexer, Edmund became a capable fighter with a variety of combat proficiencies. Edmund left Aeldin in the year 1463 for the Imperium Tertius, joining his mentor and now Emperor in the land of Thales. Adrian Chivay – Second born son of Edward and Rose. Born with light brown hair and brown eyes. Adrian, like his brother Edmund, also travelled to Thales in 1463 to join in service to the Imperium Tertius. Upon his arrival, he was ordered to help improve the garrison of Petrus Watch in the province of Cisaltine Gaekrin, and was appointed as Governor Edwan Sparrow’s second in provincial matters, doing a great deal of work to improve the fort and its surroundings. Richard Chivay – Third born son of Edward and Rose. Born with black hair and brown eyes. Richard was born in Aeldin and set up as a personal servant to the Emperor of Horos, Owyn. Working under the Imperial Chamberlain, Richard learned a great deal about the fine-tuned aspects of court life and also about the chamberlain’s duties of managing the Imperial estates and assets. Richard would be described as quite the thrifty man, with a knack for stewardship and expressing a somewhat more reserved demeanor than the normal Chivay possesses. Richard eventually became the Chamberlain’s second in the Empire of Horos, and is currently residing in Aeldin. The Bastards and illegitimate Children of House Chivay of Rivia
