  1. how does one find themselves on the team that develops concepts for new maps. im wrapping up a geology degree and i think i could bring a certain unique perspective to map design that synthesizes the pedantry of someone with strict adherence to geologic principles and the ineptitude of an inexperienced game environment designer in a way that literally everyone will be guaranteed to enjoy

learn wm and wp and your chances r high if u get on a decent level

though i doubt i care anyone here gives much of a rhing for climatology, lotc world doesnt really care for logic

Learn World Machine (Not essential, generates terrain, simulates erosion, can export height maps.) and World Painter (Editor for Minecraft Maps and can import height maps). Geology doesn't mean anything to the server if you can't produce a usable Minecraft World.

Then make a forum post to catch admin attention (portfolio).

Then realize it is all for not because admins are paying $500 to some guy on planetminecraft to make a map with sea arches spammed all over.

Either way, function is more important than geology for LotC. Map Theory (admin controlled systems such as tiles, travel, soulstones, and resources) is of more consequence to players and needs greater focus. I personally consider us to be in a pretty good spot, just need adjustments to existing systems.

@Fishythat's all good advice! I'm not actually serious about wanting to be on the map team though
