The Kingdom of Castile The Moorish raids near Leon, whilst troubling, opened another opportunity for Sancho. He once again sends a missive asks once again for a military alliance, reading as follows: ((MOD REQUIRED TO SEE IF THEY ACCEPT, PLEASE READ THE LETTER)) "To my esteemed brother, the noble Alfonso VI of Leon, It was not long ago that I sent to you an offer on military unity in the face of the Moorish horde. You did not fully accept, which I understand and can respect. However, with these raids encroaching on your own land, surely you can see that the Moors seek to dominate Iberia? They are a threat, it is certain, but they can be defeated through the unity of true Iberia. It is up to you, brother. You can choose death without a chance of survival, or you can choose to fight back with Castile, Aragon, and Portugal against the Berber scum, and take victory instead of defeat. I have strong hopes that wisdom in you shall prevail. Your dearest brother, Sancho II of Castile." Hopefully this time he sees reasons, Sancho thinks as he moves on to his next task. Right now, Castile lacked a proper navy. As such, he order the few Castilian shipyards to the North to begin building a fleet of the following size: 6 Real-class Galleys (290 oarsmen, 300 Swordsmen, 100 Crossbowmen each) 14 Asaltante-class Galleys (200 oarsmen, 25 Swordsmen, 100 Crossbowmen each - Equivalent to a galia sottil) The fleet would have total crew numbers of: 4540 Oarsmen 2150 Swordsmen 2000 Crossbowmen And will take [2 pages] to complete. Additionally, the recruiment drive is once again renewed, with the same proportions and size as the previous one, which is as follows: 3,000 infantry (1,000 pikemen, 2,000 swordsmen) 2,000 missile units (1,000 archers, 1,000 crossbowmen) 1,000 cavalry In addition, a large amount of mercenaries are also hired, which are as follows: 3,500 infantry (2,250 pikemen, 1,250 swordsmen) 2,000 missile units (1,000 archers, 1,000 crossbowmen) 500 cavalry Both of these additional forces would bring the total standing army of Castile to 10,750 Infantry (4,875 Pikemen, 5,875 Swordsmen) 6,750 Missile Units (3,750 archers, 3,000 crossbowmen) 3,000 cavalry (All lancers equipped with swords) The Moorish response to Valencia could be dealt with easily enough. Border towns to the South-East of Castile, relatively close to Valencia, pass on information about a flanking force of composed of archers and cavalry, but not much else regarding size. Sancho sends what he knows to Aragon, and deploys his own force to intercept the flanking force, composed of: 1,250 Infantry (625 Pikemen, 625 swordsmen) 1,000 Archers 750 cavalry ((MOD REQUIRED TO SEE IF THE INTERCEPTION REACHES THE FLANKING FORCE, AND IF SO TO DETERMINE THE BATTLE'S OUTCOME)) In response to the Frankish offer of somewhat of a Triumvirate of Castile, England, and Francia, Sancho thought hard in the matter. There seemed to be few downsides, and many large positives. As such, he responds with this letter "To my fellow King, Konrad of Francia, I will accept your offer of a royal marriage, and I have decided it will be with my daughter Sofia. It would be my and my people's pleasure to be stalwart in unity against all foreign invaders with our comrades across the English Channel. I hope that in the event of war in either of our cases, we will be able to assist one another, and attain victory. From your dear ally, Sancho II of Castile" Map: -
The only thing anyone should need to justify their use of magic is having a teacher and being taught it if it's guild-locked, and if it's not then them handling the magic well.

Okay, I guess I forgot it's okay to dismiss lore made by lore masters and approved by the lore team because one community says so. Snow Elves are a subrace that can vomit thahnium, Orcs can use their laser vision to melt stone, and humans can fly and are immortal.

He's not a High Elf OOCly, he doesn't turn off his computer, purge impures, and go to bed. On LotC, OOCly he's a Lore Master. Who's job it is to determine lore.

You're fully welcome to self-impose upon your individual characters, but you can't say to a new dwarf that OOCly they aren't allowed to use magic, and chastise dwarves OOCly when they do, and you can't use any resistance to magic (which some people claim exists, maybe not Lima) when someone tries to magic you.

Yeah.

The lore backing for the Dwarven resistance and inability was removed a far time ago. Just because Dwarves say it is so doesn't mean they can enforce it OOCly or use it to their advantage. As always, deal with it in RP.

At any other time, Buubztik might have talked to a poster about this. However, he is currently imprisoned and also being kept insane, so he knows nothing and so says nothing.

A Game Of Thrones (High Middle Age Feudal Mediterranean Frp)
hellfiazz replied to dirtryhary's topic in Anthos OOC Archive
mylimo7, Carracks weren't a type of ship until the 15th century, which is 300 years in front of the current setting. The Southern Mediterranean nations currently only really have galleys in large numbers, cogs not reaching them properly until later this century. -
A Game Of Thrones (High Middle Age Feudal Euro/med. Rp Thread)

Kingdom of Castile Sancho was somewhat disappointed at the lack of a military alliance from Navarre or Leon. Regardless, the outcome was positive nonetheless. Trade and a non-aggression pact was something. Trade boosted the economy; it didn't take Sancho's skill with all things monetary to know that. With the original recruitment notice complete and each new soldier armed and receiving training, another one is sent out. This time however, will be a much larger drive. The Crown commissions the creation of 5 new regiments composed of 1,000 men each. 1 pike regiment, 2 sword regiments, 1 archer regiment, 1 crossbowmen regiment, and 1 cavalry regiment. That totals: 3,000 infantry (1,000 pikemen, 2,000 swordsmen) 2,000 missile units (1,000 archers, 1,000 crossbowmen) 1,000 cavalry Once completed, this will bring the total number of troops in the the standing army up to 4,250 Infantry (2,625 swordsmen, 1,625 pikemen) 2,750 missile units (1,750 archers, 1,000 crossbowmen) 1,500 cavalry The troops would be armoured in the same manner they had before. Trade agreement requests are sent to Byzantium, France, and Venice, with the message "Trade between our two peoples would be mutually beneficial. King Sancho II of Castile wishes for his nation to prosper and knows that you too wish the same, and trade is as good a way as any to promote prosperity and good faith." Map: -

If you're going to weed out bad ideas anyway then what's the point of abolishing lore requirement. The result is the same either way, except with lore requirement the ideas can be defined, regulated, and easily accessible.

LotC never was a democracy. Player support doesn't mean it should be accepted. Cool ideas on paper often work poorly in actual roleplay situations, becoming either quickly exhausted or just causing general upset with people on the receiving end. The Lore Team's job isn't to look at what the players think is a good concept and then implement lore based on that, because they can and are often wrong. The LT's job is to discern if the lore is necessary, fits the theme, won't become boring to roleplay as and with after a few instances, and is balanced in roleplay situations.

Kingdom of Castile Iberia was in disarray, in the eyes of Sancho. With half of it taken by the Moorish, and the other half split into several small kingdoms, there was little hope for unity. But Sancho was a largely optimistic man. He saw a united España, and an Iberia where only the true Iberians lived, with the Berber menace expelled from its lands. First, unity was essential. Aragon's offer is welcome and gladly accepted. He also sends a missive to both Navarre and Leon, requesting Navarre for vassalisation, and if not a military alliance, and a trade agreement regardless of accepting of other agreements, and asking his younger brother, Alfonso VI, the King of Leon, for a military alliance and a trade agreement. ((Mod action required to see if they accept. Note that in the case of Leon, historically the king of Leon also wanted unity between Castile and Leon at this time)) A missive is also sent to Portugal, asking for a solidifying of relations and a trade agreement, pressing the matter of the Moorish horde to the south and how unity among Iberians is vital to securing its shores. Additionally, a missive is sent to England, requesting for a trade agreement and a defensive alliance. Secondly, there was the home front. It was vital that the farmers get working after the winter, and with the rumors of a surplus this year, it was even more so. Sancho's economic wit will come in handy in making sure that the harvest is as cost-effective and beneficial as possible. Additionally, the other workers could get back to work in the mines, quarries, and lumberyards. Legislation passed that encouraged people to get up and get back to working, with a small amount of economic support given to those kinds of workers and royal investments into those industries. With metal, coal, stone and wood once again reaching the system without the limitation of the cold upon it, Sancho had a bit of room to work with. As such, he ordered the recruitment notice, which was accompanied by inspirational propaganda about the glory and potential wealth of war, as well as negative propaganda against the Moors. The recruitment target was: 1250 infantry, half pikemen, half swordsmen. 750 archers 500 cavalry Each of the units would be armoured sufficiently, with scale and light plating for archers, and plating for the infantry and cavalry. ^Archer^ v Infantry / Cavalry V (Like this but with chainmail where the cloth is, more decorative) v -

Buubztik thrashes at his chains in rage-filled madness, his mind trapped in perpetual insanity to ensure he cannot emancipate himself. ((Hooray for over-use of big words!)) ((Aimed at myself, not Watyll. Very good job with representing Buubztik and his shamanism.))

An anonymous artist sends in a picture entitled "Buubztik flatz durti nuuti zkum flawlizli" It comes with a story: Buubztik was walking along, minding his own business and all that crap. Out of nowhere, fifty High Elves jump from the bushes, brandishing their big swords. Buubztik punches one, making them explode violently, killing about 20 of the High Elves, 15 of them run and wet themselves. Buubztik disarms the remaining 14 High Elves, and stabs them all in the stomach. Buubztik then continues his walk.

Buubztik delivers a note to Herun at the Clerics are meeting "Senira's a spiderling! That's probably unholy or something! It's unnatural at any rate! Also actions speak louder than words, and the youthful liveliness of new blood can often re-inject life into these kinds of things. However, make sure this new blood is properly screened and genuinely worthy. That is all." -
No one here has a vendetta against you. They just don't want to see this piece of lore on the server. Stop taking these criticisms of the lore, not you, so personally, and in turn stop making personal attacks. Regardless, I personally don't see a need or desire for this lore on the server. If you want to make an impact on the server's role play, there are many ways to do it without having to write your own lore or having a special character.
