  1. Looks up and smiles. "No I did not suggest he was a Knight of Oren." he looks to the scribe of the Court and says "Read from your manuscript what I said." the Scribe nodes and says "Archbishop John: Huron Sliverblade a Knight of the Holy Order of the Red Dragon" John nods. "And your Honor there is was no such thing as the Kingdom of Oren, that is something you young-lings made up, against everything that the old ones stood for, The Kingdom Of Oren was to stay buried a stain in human history that name should have stayed dead back in Aegis." Tilts his head "And no I am unfamiliar that Knights must hold a oath to the Crown, that is the first I hear of such a thing, Ser is a title granted by the Crown, if the Knight then joins a order in service to the Crown he holds a oath but Knights can server lords or become hedge Knights. If you are saying Knights have Oaths to the Crown Does that mean the current head of the Elfs has a oath to the Crown? Darius is a Knight, not any Knight but a decorated one a former Knight Commander of the lions and of the Dragon guard. Knights are Knights for life but it can be stripped from them, but they are not bound to the Crown. Even then every time a new King or Emperor sits the throne all oaths, must be renewed, as a oath is taken to a ruler not his family. "And Silius Horen did not usurp it from William, William was attacked by Owyn Carrion the so called High Pontiff made King and William surrendered the Crown. Even so that has nothing to do with it, oaths do not carry on from crown to crown. But I shall play along for amusements sake Silius Horen was not next in line Sophia was as Silius Horen is the nephew of Godfrey while Sophia is his daughter. Saying that he held vassal oaths to House Horen is amusing, he held a oath long dead in Auslon to Emperor Godfrey, he did not even swear oath to Horen V, as I already said oaths do not carry on to a heir, they are required to be renewed"
  2. John slowly flips a few pages, as his eyes meet the lines in the paper before he looks up turning his head towards Huron speaking quietly they take a moment to speak before John turns to the judges. "Your honor's, Gentlemen and Lady's" he turns to look at the people that are seated then back the Judges. "I shall speak to each crime stated in order, first the Crime of High Treason." His eyes look down at the book. "High treason is the crime of disloyalty to one's Crown. Offences constituting high treason include plotting the murder of one's sovereign; committing adultery with the sovereign's consort, with the sovereign's eldest unmarried daughter, or with the wife of the heir to the throne; levying war against one's sovereign and adhering to the sovereign's enemies, giving them aid or comfort; and attempting to undermine the lawfully established line of succession." he says out loud "That is the definition given in our laws of High Treason. Furthermore it is elaborated, First, it is high treason to "compass or imagine the death of our Lord the Monarch, of our Lady his Consort, or of their eldest son and heir." The terms "compass or imagine" indicate the premeditation of a murder; it would not be high treason to accidentally kill the sovereign or any other member of the Royal Family (though someone could be charged with manslaughter or negligent homicide). However it has also been held to include rebelling against or trying to overthrow one's monarch, as experience has shown that this normally involves the monarch's death. The terms of this provision have been held to include only male sovereigns, but also only the spouses of male Sovereigns. It is not sufficient to merely allege that an individual is guilty of high treason because of his thoughts or imaginations; there must be an overt act indicating the plot." he takes a deep breath before he continues. "Ser Huron Sliverblade, has never in his life took it upon his name to swear an Oath to King Heinrik or his predecessor that would mean he does not recognize the legitimacy of there line of succession, Moreover that makes King Heinrik not his Sovereign liege. As he has not sworn fealty to him or his Kingdom or any man under this Kingdom which would make him his de facto overlord. Furthermore Ser Huron Sliverblade has never served the Kingdom of Oren in fact he fought against the Kingdom of Oren in Aeigs, to form the Kingdom of Renatus in its place. Nor does Huron Sliverblade see himself as a citizen of Oren, nor does he associate himself with it he is of old Rentanin noble blood, and a Imperial Noble, as those both do not hold ground. Even if you argue that Renatus was there under Sigumund Carrion, it was not held by a lord he recognized being as he swore oath to House Horen as Kings of Renatus and before them to Tarus of Renatus." his eyes close for a moment, as he leans in on his staff one of his laymen goes and fetches him a glass of water, he sips it slowly before placing it down on the table in-front of him. "I believe I have proved without a shadow of a doubt that Ser Huron Sliverblade should not be charged of High Treason, as a person can not commit treason to a Sovereign he has no obligation or oath too, or if the person is not considered a citizen of that Nation. For that I ask the honorable judges to retract the charge of High Treason, I await your rebuttals and arguments or the dropping of the charge for this first crime before carrying on." A laymen pulls a seat as John slowly sits down looking at a few documents one of his scribes placed in-front of him.
  3. The Archbishop looks at Hourn a bet puzzled and amused he gives the man a sorry look as he sighs, for a moment shaking his head slowly, before standing. "For the love that my brother bore your brother Braxis's I shall." he lowers his head making the double cross as he slowly walks near Huron and stands next to him looking at the judges, he gestures to two of his clerics and whispers something to them they bring out two dusty books from there satchels placing them on a stool in-front of him, the Archbishop flips threw the first book. His finger traces along the lines of writing in the book, before he looks up towards the Judges. "Your honors I have been asked to represent Ser Huron Sliverblade, in this trial by his own words and threw his own freewill and I accept." before he looks down at the book and reads out loud. "The Second Book of law, the third chapter, He who cannot Conduct his Cause Himself, must give Written Authority to his Attorney or ask for it in-front of a court of law. If any one is unable to conduct his own cause, or is unwilling to do so, he must appoint a representative, by an instrument in writing, under his own hand, confirmed by the seals and signatures of witnesses or by saying so in-front of a court of law and naming his representative. And if any such representative should be guilty of collusion with his adversary, so that he is defeated, he shall pay to his principal, as much of his own property as the latter has lost, or as much as he ought to have obtained. But it shall not be lawful for a slave to conduct any case whatever, through the commission of another, unless on behalf of his master or mistress, or of the Church, or of some poor person, or under the commission of the royal treasury. If, through either the neglect or misconduct of the judge, or through the perjury of a witness, the provisions of this law should not be carried out, then it shall be the duty of the monarch to enforce the same." He looks up once more, "I swear that I shall represent Ser Huron Silverblade honestly." his hand trails to the other book as he flips it open and goes to page twelve and reads. "Huron Sliverblade a Knight of the Holy Order of the Red Dragon, sworn sword of King Godfrey and later Emperor Godfrey, Baron of Das Boot, Brother to the honored Grand Knight Braxis Sliverblade Count of Das Boot, Brother of Gideon Sliverblade, Cousin to the Honored Duke Niclous Silverblade and Grand Knight Uthor Sliverblade Duke of Furnstock. He is no longer a baron though he is still a Ser by the laws of man and God as his Knighthood was not stripped, so I insist that the judges use the proper address that is Ser even if you believe him a traitor we are civilized people and use proper terms of address even for criminals." He leans on his staff for a little while his breath becoming slower. "Now as this is a court of law, a judge or a plaintiff must list the crimes that where done and explain them as the representative of the defendant I would like that to be read to the court so we may argue them"
  4. John's face twists in anger for a moment as it clams down, "Bah you do not fool me with this falsey and sweet talk, I have more knowledge of the law and history than any lording that sits here, and I already spoke to the King about it." he hits his staff once more on the ground "You wont like what I'll have to say." he grumbles a bet before his eyes meet's Edward's in a quick exchange. He moves to where the Clergy is suppose to be seated seeing a couple of people that are not meant to be there his laymen move them away before the Archbishop takes a seat with a sinister intent on his mind. He grumbles to himself as he is being surrounded by his entourage of clerics and scribes as he hits one with his staff for writing something.
  5. Archbishop John, walks into the court he is flanked by a couple of Clerics and Scribes, he raises his staff high in the air and stamps it on the floor while his free hand is raised. He says out loud, "What of the charge of apostasy, and collaboration with known heretics, the use of a foreign race to usurp a human land and kill its people, and finally the breaking of divine law!" he says looking at his Grand Nephew. "I wish those added, and myself added as part of judicial process!"
  6. Archbishop John, walks towards Huron looking him up and down as he is flanked by clerics and scribes. "I know your family well boy" the old Archbishop says, as he walks towards the King, "Your Majesty it would be my honor to be included in this trial as I have vast knowledge of the histories and laws present and past."
  7. Solemnly he prays under the candle light in the Synod Proper, his hushed chants can be heard only slightly "Guide me" he said. The Archbishop holds a double cross between his hands, he leans down kissing the base of the alter before he stands slowly with the help of one of his laymen, as he is sat on one of aisles he continues to pray.
  8. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7kwZ0hAPjvU The Holy Synod is located at the top of mountain in Northal. The Synod is an enormity of pillars, steps, buttresses, bridges, domes, and towers flowing into one another as if they had all been chiseled from one colossal rock. It looms high like Dragons High's Mountain. A hundred hues of red, yellow, gold, and orange meet and meld in the Synod walls, dissolving one into the other like clouds at sunset. The Synod itself is an impressive marble domed structure, It has twelve marble towers, each of which has bells. Only on momentous occasions, such as the death of a king, are all of them rung. There are several sets of small doors leading into the Synod. But one large one that leads into the Synod-proper called Owyn's gate. Past the doors is the entrance hall of the Synod, which is known as the Hall of Saints. Those entering the hall walk beneath suspended globes of colored leaded glass and to there left and right are marble statues of saints. Through the double-doors is the Synod-proper, with twelve broad aisles which meet beneath the dome of glass, gold, and crystal Its floors made out of marble and great windows of leaded, colored glass, and the many altars are set about with candles. Below are tombs where great men are laid to rest, cells for penitents, other halls and rooms, and vaults that hold costly vestments, rings, crystal crowns, and other treasures of the Faith. The main sanctum chamber can comfortably seat twelve hundred people. There are other spaces within the complex that can seat larger numbers. All Clergymen have quarters in the Synod, The College Of Bishops meet here, in a large room under the third tower called the Holy College, courts are held here, the Synod is a large structure that has many uses. ((Basically this is where all Church role-play forum wise is going to be held we well clump it all in one topic, of-course edicts well have there own topic- When there is a important matter that is to be discussed or a meeting held a post on the thread well be made with a title stating such and no more side-rp can occur until that rp is done with.)) ((If anyone wants or wish's something of the church send a letter in this thread)) ((Who has access to the thread, All Clergymen, All Holy Ordermen - Some parts of the Synod the ordermen cannot enter(But those are place you would not know about so do not worry about it you basically can be anywhere), All Faithful can come but only have access to the Synod proper))
  9. Your doing good. Feedback is do not listen to most of this as its pretty much anti Oren.
  10. Wait what no lol, she was none of Godfrey's wifes, Vardak played as the wife of the King of Salvus, she was married to a Hightower.
  11. Daniel looked on as the Archbishops and other Clergymen descended the steps of the monastery. He could see the three Archbishops in-front of the Clergymen. It seemed that John and Castus were talking to each other as they took the steps down, while Iosif seemed too focused on his thoughts. Daniel was in the back of the Clergymen as they walked down as he was of the lower order of the Church, just a layman scribe. He shuffled his papers around as they reached the large door at the end of the staircase, Archbishop John moved a hand into his robes and brought forth a key as he opened the lock and a couple of his flock of priests pushed the large door open. As we entered, other laymen rushed to light the candles that surrounded the great halls of the Conclave. In the middle there was a semicircle of chairs and seats, and in the front of that a elevated Desk and seat, and behind a that much higher seat, more like a throne really, where the High Pontiff would sit. Archbishop John surged forward followed by an assortment of priests and laymen as he took the seat just under the throne, while other priests took seats in the semi circle and the Archbishops took front seats in the semi circle as well. After a few moments of silence Archbishop John stood from his seat and spoke in a calm but assertive tone. "Brothers, we mourn the passing of our dearly beloved High Pontiff, but the Church does not die, nor does the Creator. We must move forward. As such, I hereby take charge of the office of Chancellor of the College of Bishops. As acting Chancellor, I hereby declare that we shall do two things today. Firstly, we will elect a Bishop, and secondly, we will elect a new High Pontiff." Bishop John then takes a moment to sit down. After a few moments of the Archbishops and Priests talking among themselves, John raps the gavel once against a small block, calling them back to order. When they calmed down, they began to speak. "Now brothers, as our lists indicate Brother Virosi has been recommended to the seat of Bishop. Does anyone wish to either speak against him or in favor of him before we vote?" He takes a moment to look at the gathered clergymen. "Seems not. Very well, let us vote." A couple of John’s laymen pass around ballots to the Archbishops as they vote, then bring the collected ballots back to John. He pauses for a moment then reads each of them allowed. "Yea, Yea, Yea." He looks to one of his men and motions over to Virosi as he is brought the scarf, the staff and ring. "Very good then, Brother Virosi is herein named the Bishop Virosi Of Salvus." He raps the gavel once more as the Clergymen take a break for a few minutes. Daniel looks at his scrolls as he scribes down what occurred, when suddenly he hears the gavel rap once more and the Clergymen take their seats for the second election. John speaks once more, "Now brothers, for the critical matter of nominating the High Pontiff. One must either nominate himself or someone nominates him, but he can reject it if he wishes. Now, who shall nominate themselves." A few moments pass as none of the Archbishops or Bishop stand or says something, but before John can speak, Archbishop Castus stands, “With grave heart, I nominate myself. May the Creator guide us in this trying time." No others stood to nominate themselves. John gently lowers the gavel, "Good, good, I was almost going to chide my brothers for not speaking,” smiling as he said it, "Now we vote." Once more the ballots are handed out, and brought back to John he read them out loud once more. "Yea, Yea, Yea, Yea." He smiles "It seems we are unanimous". John stands and walks as Castus does the same. They meet in the middle of the way between the Chancellor's desk and the semicircle, A laymen from behind John produces a small box which John opens, and from it brings forth a ring. He places the ring upon Castus’s finger and he bends down and kisses it. Castus then turns to face the other clergymen. John says "I present to you our new High Pontiff, by the Grace of God." The others file by as well, heads bowed, to kneel and kiss Castus’s ring.
  12. Makes the holy double cross as he hears the news, he looks a little pale as he mutters "May your travel safely to the Seven Sky's."
