  1. UNITED FEDERATION OF SKELLAR SYSTEMS Space 10, Tech 5, Eco 10 Population 10,827,505,536 Secretary-General Keak’Vongsa took to the room, flanked by two secretaries, seating himself at the head of the conference table. Adorned in ornate red robes and a chitinous facial plate as ancient as any two of his subordinates’ ages combined - he commanded tremendous respect - all present rising as he entered, seating only when bid - governors, generals, politicians alike. His cybernetic eyes made delicate, minute calculations as he took in his surroundings and observed every man and woman spontaneously. With a brief lay of the room, he proceeded, “Good of all of you to be here.” he spoke - from deep within the back of his vocals, face tendrils reverberating. “Now let us talk about naval expansion. Revered Shipmaster Qetre’Vidar, I’ll allow you to have the first word.” The veteran Shipmaster, by no means a no youth - paled in stature to the venerable Secretary-General, bowing his head. “Thank you.” he spoke kindly, reaching for a datapad. With a swipe of a finger he transmitted the necessary documents before every official gathered around. “Before you are the plans for the Skellar Federation’s proposed battlecruiser fleet. Well armed and armored - their prototype having shown their worth when we tore the Star Beast asunder.” “All good and well, Shipmaster, but we have countless light years of space to patrol and control - such heavy ships cannot possibly fulfill the role we desperately need filled.” came another voice - Rear Admiral Tak’Norng; a flotilla commander operating in the hinterlands of Skellar space. “We need more ships.” “In the event that more of those space behemoths rise-” the Shipmaster objected, “We need heavy guns to bring it to its knees. Also you disregard the agility of the Dur battlecruisers in addition to their lethality.” “They are remarkable vessels, yes. However -” “Gentlemen.” interrupted the Secretary-General, “Both doctrines are valid. We’re going to need to hash out a compromise… I’m sure both of you understand, given the circumstances.” CS1 - 10 Business CS2 - 10 Business TC1 - 3 Farms TC2 - 10 Business TC3 - 10 Business TC4 - 2 Refinery TC5 - 10 Industry TC6 - 2 Business NAVY - CAPACITY 50 SP (Population - 50) - 54 Actual 1 Exploration Ship (1 SP) 2 Dur’Avaskel’e-class Battlecruiser (2 Experienced) (10 SP) 1 Heavy Cruiser (1 Experienced) (8 SP) 3 Light Cruisers (2 Experienced) (12 SP) 1 Gescar-class Destroyer (1 Experienced) (2 SP) 11 Frigates (7 Experienced) (11 SP) TECH: T2 Armor (T3 Effective) T2 Kinetic Weapons T1 Deflectors Quantum Comms MOD ACTIONS: An exploration vessel is sent to the easternmost sector of Skellar space to probe for any valuable resources or minerals. 3. KINGDOM OF KASTOVIA Ruler: HRM, King Sigismund IV of Kastovia Population: 11,592,740 (11,940,524 next) Starting Points: 10 Size, 10 Army, 6 Tech, 5 Loyalty Trade Partners (10): Ardes, Crimson Order, Samalstraza, Krolestwo, Perasma, Rhorric, Khrav, Pachaqui, Ishikawa, Mitrovic The King sat among his peers and other retainers; no special throne, nor pedestal. Confined the Royal Cellars were the King’s trusted friends and advisors, circled around a makeshift pen. The floor was of a craggy old cobble and the chamber damp and humid. The occasional large rat and rundown wooden support beams would lend to one recognizing the venue as a subterranean wing of the Palace of Czanodar. In fact, few knew the under-chambers existed, palace staff included. The area had gone years without repair as evidenced by slightly rotten wood and gnawed at supports. Regardless, it provided ample opportunity for the King Sigismund to run his long sought after boxing ring. Although the sport was heavily repressed by his predecessor, Sigismund IV sought to roll back the legislation against the game - devising a set of fair, in-house rules with his advisors and issuing them to the public. These set of regulations soon became adopted by rings throughout the country - utilized as a standard to which fair and measurable competitions could be had. Of course, the King did not do this for no reason, having his men personally make rounds to each of the major towns and cities and personally inviting the best fighters to participate in a less-than-known tourney known simply as “The King’s League.” Two new opponents were ushered in, as the contestants of the previous were either being carried out by gurney or asked to leave as the tight schedule did not permit excessive showboating. The King leaned forward eagerly as the two fighters moved into the pit from either side - a burly, bear-sized man upon his left, and an average yet assured man from the right. No sooner did the bearman offer his opponent a gentlemanly handshake, although followed up by an underhanded blow to his opponent’s jaw. However, the average man saw the strike coming from a mile away, ducking back and delivered a swift knee to the groin. “Even with house-rules, we’re still playing dirty, hm?” remarked the King. “Aye.” remarked Sir Adrian, watching the fight unfold with keen interest. “Perhaps the rules need some refinement. A universal tell of when to start?” said Lord Dimarczyk. “Mhm.” “Perhaps a cow bell?” asked Adrian. “Yes, that’ll do-” “Your Majesty.” a voice said, repeating the phrase and approaching. A man shoved his way past crowds of spectators, .halted by knights of the Royal Guard. The King bid his protectors to stand down and promptly let the man through. “What is it?” “From the King of Antramar - a letter.” “Is that so?” Sigismund took hold of the scroll and unfurled it without further thought, skimming over the contents of the note. “Hm.” he said, ripping the parchment in two. “Your Majesty - mind I ask what it read?” “Merely an invitation to stroke Savos’s ego,” he spat, two halves of the letter falling to his feet. “A grand festivity to celebrate himself.” As he did so, the bear man had been knocked straight off his feet, hitting his head upon the stone ground with a thud. A wince followed from the King as the nearby spectators burst into an uproar - those who placed their bets scrambling to collect their dues - gold practically exploding from pouches and falling to the ground as men trampled each other. “Besides, I’d much rather be here.” SETTLEMENTS: Royal City of Barowitz, Lone Stone Walls [Trade Depot, Commerce, Great Cathedral, 8 Civilian Industry, 5 Heavy Industry, 5 Steel Mills] City of Kropiec, Low Stone Walls (Starting) [Trade Depot, Commerce, Great Cathedral, 4 Civilian Industry] City of Ustau, Low Stone Walls (Starting) [Trade Depot, Commerce, Great Cathedral] City of Turek, Low Stone Walls (Starting) [Trade Depot, Commerce, Great Cathedral] ARMY: 3,000 T3 Eagle Cohort 1,000 T3 Medium Cavalry 1,000 T3 Archers 250 T3 Knight-Protectors MOD ACTIONS: Preliminary funding for the Royal Boxing Association, “The King’s League,” with its headquarters and main area in the City of Barowitz. However, hope is not yet lost as Shipmaster Qetre’vidar designates the SFS Unyielding as his new flagship and imposes firm rule over the sector - preparing for the inevitability of the creature’s arrival. Using his influence, and with newfound quantum comms, he organizes for greater infrastructure to be laid down at home to support the growth of a Grand Skellar Fleet - an ambitious shipbuilding plan to run its course over the next decade. Indeed, the space beast has provided ample justification for a bigger and sophisticated ‘defense’ fleet. A new cruiser hull is laid down and is expected to join forces with ‘vidar’s command at the turn of the year and using their bolstered firepower to intercept the beast before it can threaten the system itself. A man of the clergy in red and gold- clad in elaborate robes of priceless embroidery, depicting ecclesiatical scenes in neatly organized registers across his chest, only covered by two purple drapes which hung around his neck and topped off with a round and bold mittre - akin to the shape of rising dough. He was a weathered man, perhaps with at least five decades beneath his modest zone. He bore a wrinkled face and scrunched up nose, with a beard of grey and to his shoulders. He commanded the attention of those who gathered, reciting from an old tomb with a finger waggled. “... and let it be known it was he, Hadrianus of Kavir, who preached the word of love and compassion. He, who knew his voice would not fall silent but ring upon a thousand ears. He, who paid the ultimate price and was prosecuted by the Atemic lords - sentenced to die upon the wooden cross. And he who rose yet again, not with a burning vengeance nor hate, but bore a message for his faithful - bidding them to forget naught of deeds transpired and always find room in thy hearts for forgiveness… … ‘Lest we forget -” “My good Archbishop Pisczech...” a voice interceded. “Pray tell, courtly hours are not times for religious sermons, I’m sure you’re aware?” King Sigismund raised a brow, seemingly unamused by theatrics of the Archbishop. The Archbishop closed the book, bowing. “Of course not, Your Majesty. The point rather being t-that I-I..” he stumbled upon his words, “..believe it fit for the Crown to foot the efforts of reconstructing our country’s greatest heritage and pilgrimage sites - it would do well in restoring the Kastovian identity - erecting a series of grand cathedrals in showcase of our splendor. Not only to the Adrianist Mother Church, but to all, from each corner of society… a safe haven amidst the turbulence, a chapter from which we can give back to-” King Sigismund waved a hand, cutting off the bishop, “I understand, Your Eminence. Do not need to lecture me about the importance of the sanctified grounds in which we tread. Thus, I shall ensure the Crown will allocate monetary aid to restoring our holy sites. That is all I have to say on the matter.” The bishop nodded, finding this response sufficient as he slowly backed away, turning his back only when he reached the rear of the aisle in accordance with Kastovian courtly customs. A pair of two armed guards parted along the central carpet, allowing the bishop to seamlessly melt back into the crowd of courtiers. “Next petitioner.” cried the herald, his voice hoarse and presumably having been at it for hours. Unfurling his scroll, he recited the name, “Her Excellency, Lady Artificer Kamila von Domaradz.” to which a beautiful, red-maned youth stepped forward - wearing a frilled dress of red and black, complimenting her features - though perhaps hanging a little too low beneath the shoulders - not that His Majesty would ever complain. Sir Adrian Koguciuck, named taken after the Lord, whispered to the King’s ear, “She knows she doesn’t have to do that right? - Her seat on the Council ensures her-” Sigismund waved the issue, “I’m sure she’s aware.” Addressing the court, he raised his voice, “What matters do you bring before my court, Lady Artificer?” “Here we go.” Lord Dimarczyk rolled his eyes, granted an honorary position upon the dais, as protector and advisor to the king. To his flank, the Queen Anastasia Victoria, wife of Sigismund, appeared slightly petulant, perhaps jealous of the young sorceress and her influence among the court. “Good sons and daughters of Kastovia.” she said, “Our people have been given a great blessing - one that we shall not ignore - an affinity towards all processes alchemical in nature - one that we cannot ignore. Perhaps, our potential for dabbling is not nature. But we have given the tools to do good things for humankind and forge our own futures. Unlimitless potential - creating elixirs of healing to refining the temperment of steel. I ask that those who possess such gifts not shirk away from your duty - to Kastovia and her peoples. You might sooner find that there is a gem hidden behind the mundane surface. And I will be honored to announce that the Royal Academies will be sponsoring the education of various inclined individuals in the Schools of Alchemy, Transmutation, and Enchantment…” she decried, to which she was met with approving nods and applause of well-meaning intent. Beneath his breath, Lord Dimarczyk wondered “Is she done yet.” “That will be all.” she then actually concluded, strutting towards the dais as opposed to the exit, picking up the frills of her dress, as she took her place upon the podium, among the King’s trustees. She appeared quite content with herself. Sigismund, on the other hand, scratched his forehead. After his tour of the countryside, he had just now returned home - to Barowitz - after several weeks of riding. He and his noble entourage now rode atop their horses, trotting back to the Royal Stables - all the while subject to horrific chafing and a general sensation of soreness. “Mhm yes, it’s the horses I tell you.” “Oh, is that so?” a retainer parallel to him chortled - a childhood friend of his, Sir Adrian Koguciuck. “The horses in the back.” chimed in another rider - Lord Andre Dimarczyk - with a slight smirk, slightly less amused, though pitching in nonetheless “Alright, enough of that.” King Sigismund scoffed, straightening his posture as he took firm hold of the reins. “We all know the only pain in my arse is my wife.” Sir Adrian chuckled, eyes set dead ahead, swaying ever so slightly as they continued down their path. “Oh, is that funny to you?” remarked Sigismund, expression turned cold as stone. “‘Course not, liege. Let’s hope Her Majesty didn’t miss you too much.” “Hmph.” said Sigismund as he dismounted his horse, his entourage following suit, now at the foot of the Royal Palace, “Well, let’s not keep her waiting.” She leapt onto the ground with a relieved sigh, happy to feel the earth beneath his feet. “Good to be back, ‘innit.” said Lord Dimarczyk, clambering down with a dull thud. “You can say that again-” “Your Majesty. Your MAJESTY-.” a voice interjected, scrambling down the steps of the palace in front of them and nearly tripping on his feet and words alike. Upon hearing news of the wake of destruction left behind King Savos’s campaign, King Sigismund IV of Kastovia readily obliged, taking some 3,000 men to the border. While he assumed favorable ground, his outriders had returned with critical information. At the base of the hill, a beleaguered rider galloped back to the Kastovian host, bringing himself before King Sigismund. Weary and heavy of breath, he relayed his message to the Kastovian King. “My liege, the Andramaric host has bypassed our borders - bearing north. To Orev, I presume.” Behind Sigismund stood a moderate coterie of the Royal Kastovian Army - having been heavily reduced to keep pace with economic development. Regardless, they were few, but elite, proudly flying the Kastovian eagle and anxious for a scrap. Yet, there’d be none this day. King Sigismund contemplated this new development, knowing he was in no position to get caught up in a senseless conflict between the Orevians and Andramarics. Thank the Lord, he thought, having feared the worst. A determined incursion of that size could not be stopped – not at this moment. Regardless, a massive weight was lifted off his shoulders. Sigismund heaved a sigh of relief, thanking the scout, “Thank you for your efforts, decanus. Now get some rest.” he bid, the soldier bowing gratefully as he trotted off. “Hm,” he thought, “While we’re out here, there is something I’d like to see...” As battles incessantly and constantly raged across the Midlands - there was a site that he knew he had to visit. Rumors had trickled to him of the discovery of the site of a great battle within the western hills of Kastovia. Perhaps worth investigating since they had come this far. He bid his cavalry commander to approach, bringing a small retinue to push towards the battle site. While, the King was off sightseeing and stepping through the remains of the damned, Queen Anastasia had other plans, making arrangements for alliances with foreign powers, even if it meant parting with her beloved daughter, Karlotta to be betrothed to the son of the King of Krolestwo. 12. Discord Name: Tank Government Type: Hereditary Absolute Monarchy Leader: HRM, King Sigismund IV of Kastovia Magic Type: Alchemy KINGDOM OF KASTOVIA History/Culture: The Kingdom of Kastovia is a large, agrarian realm located in the southern Midlands. The realm is a hereditary absolute monarchy with its epicenter of power concentrated in the ancient city of Barowitz. The current king is King Sigismund IV of Kastovia, infamous for his cruelty and ruthlessness - a result of having his succession to the throne challenged by his uncle at a young age. Nevertheless, after rallying loyalist banners to his aid and cornering treacherous forces, he was able to decisively put an end to the rebellion, silently disposing of the remaining colluders in the following weeks. However as the years passed, and with his authority cemented, Kastovia has returned to previous levels of normalcy and prosperity. Kastovian society, like most other Midlanders, is divided into a number of castes. By far the largest and poorest class are the bondsmen, tied to the land and the Lords who rule it. They are afforded little rights, and pay significant tithes to their lords in exchange for ‘protection.’ However, in recent years more and more talented individuals have slipped free of their service to a local lord, assimilating into a newly found artisan class - possessing crucial skills and dominating urban centers. Perhaps the most revered caste are those of the knights, whose status can be attained by any man valiant or courageous enough in service to Kastovia - rewarded with minor fiefdoms beneath the nobility. The nobility and lords are exceptionally privileged, though steer clear of drawing the King’s ire, who holds absolute authority in the realm. The King sits at the pinnacle of this hierarchy, treading a fine line of fear-inspiring or respect-worthy decisions. Kastovians hold icons such as bulls in high regard - seen as both a symbol of strength and prestige. In the country trade may often be done in livestock, whereas city-dwellers may stick to officially minted currency. Somewhat superstitious, they believe that the energies of whatever animal they consume or hides they wear reflect upon a particular person - thus relying upon ‘hardy’ foods, and thus also relish in physical activity and displays of strength. Kastovians are also selfless, putting the interests of the state before one's well being and are inclined to great deeds of fortitude and patriotism for their country. Now more than ever, Kastovians have begun to see themselves as a singular entity - from all rungs of society. It is compulsory that all men own a weapon – be it a sword or a bow, should the need arise and their country call upon them. Important Characters: HRM, King Sigismund IV of Kastovia (6 Martial, 2 Charisma, 5 Leadership) The current King of Kastovia, King Sigismund the Cruel. Having survived the early, chaotic and tumultuous days of his reign, the country is now on path to unprecedented prosperity under his guidance. Queen Anastasia Victoria of Kastovia (1 Martial 9 Charisma, 3 Leadership) The current queen of Kastovia – beloved by her peoples and seen as a foil to the perhaps abrasive personality of her husbamd. Lady Artificer Kamila von Domaradz (1 Martial, 10 Magic, 2 Charisma) Lady Artificier Kamila von Domaradz, or known as the Loremistress, is a favored member of King Sigismund’s court. Of noble blood, she fit well into the inner circles of Kastovian society. She possesses crucial and unparalleled knowledge of all things historical and arcane. Andre Dimarczyk, the Black Baron (5 Martial, 8 Agility) Lord Andre Dimarczyk is perhaps the most reliable and dependable figure in King Sigismund’s court - in a manner that can only be described as the ‘His Majesty’s Personal Hitman.’ Although not completely morally reprehensible, most would do well to avoid getting on his bad side. They carry into battle the Great Banner of Barowitz, a sacred icon said to have been carried into battle by the mythical warrior saint John of Heszna, inspiring allies around them and granting them renewed strength and vigour. KASTOVIAN EAGLE COHORT (UNIQUE MEDIUM INFANTRY) The Eagle Cohort are the most skilled and veteran footmen drawn from the ranks of the Royal Kastovian Army. They form an elite vanguard of every Kastovian military unit, afforded with relative battlefield autonomy and typically relieved of camp duties. They have undergone specialized training that allows them to excel at civil policing, and can act as a highly effective gendarmerie and anti-subversion agents. KASTOVIAN KNIGHT-PROTECTORS (UNIQUE HEAVY INFANTRY) Incorruptible. Implacable. Steadfast. These are the words of the Kastovia’s Knight-Protectors - oathsworn knights originally intended to protect pilgrims traveling the roads of Kastovia. However, their role has now been consolidated as an elite heavy infantry and personal retinue of the King - in both civil society and on the battlefield. Shipmaster Qetre’vadar sat tall amidst the crucial C&C station of his vessel, his throne elevated above his subordinates not only as a reminder of status but to provide a commanding view of the periphery of the ship. An aged man, long tentacles protruded downwards from his stupendously calcified, chitinous faceplate. His cybernetic four eyes kept tabs on all individuals going to and from the bridge, every transmission sent, order relayed, or message typed. Perhaps it was slightly intimidating having your superior know what you were up to at all times, compounded by the multiple holo-screens which surrounded his post. With a swipe of his finger, he dismissed the screens, descending from his captain’s chair, bounding for the holo-table. As he approached, the table flickered to life, projecting a digitalized and life-size blue image of a Skellar female before him. “Doctor.” he said, voice resonating from within the chitin. “Shipmaster ‘Vadar.” the woman bowed deeply. “What news do you bring?” “The colony goes well, Lord ‘Vadar. Initial terraforming projects have proved successful, and we’ve largely replicated the atmospheric composition of Skell’ig Prime. We’ve also introduced several plant species to the planet all of which proved tolerant of the slightly acidic soil. We’ll now focus efforts on extracting any resources if the planet bears any.” she said, flipping a page in her clipboard. Though before she could continue, she Shipmaster interjected. “Very good, doctor. As soon as we can re-establish comm-links with Skell’ig - I’m sure they’ll be ecstatic with our progress here. I see many honorifics and awards coming your way. Do resume your excellent work.” With a resigned sigh, the Shipmaster turned, “That will be all, doctor.” as the transmission flickered silent. Turning to an ops officer, ‘Vadar looked stern, and dismissive as he was affirmative said, “Eyes and ears on Doctor Qira’lilaar, if you would. I don’t trust these science types. 14. UNITED FEDERATION OF SKELLAR SYSTEMS The Skellar arose from the unassuming planet of Skell’ig Prime, among few terrestrial bodies lying within Skell’ig’s inner belt. A large ocean planet orbited by two moons, and circumnavigated by several rings. Curiosity thrust the Skellar to leave their moist rock, taking first to their planet’s satellites, and then beyond. They found themselves to be masters of creating ships to explore the stars - and soon, a massive initiative was launched - Skellar settling nearly all corners of their solar system. However, where they once found unity and camaraderie in a shared passion and interest - they also uncovered the worst that their people had to offer. Corporate greed and ruthless efforts at resource extraction back home left outlying colonies ostracized. These frustrations would culminate in a two-year long conflict in which many planets and settlements of the system would be destroyed and populations scattered. In the aftermath, the survivors were left to pick up the ashes. Realizing the folly of their elders as the reason for this pointless bloodshed, they cast down the old regimes and declared a new federation - one in which every Skellar would be treated equal, part of something greater. Given new purpose, the Skellar set out to expand economic opportunity and bring civilization to new worlds and left their home system. By all means a fledgling ‘empire’, the Skellar seek to promote their ideals of peace, prosperity, and progress across the stars. Now, a Colony Ship departs from the Skell’ig Prime’s lesser moon, packed with countless optimistic and hopeful Skellar settlers to truly establish an extrasolar homeworld. At the time, their homeworld was still divided between centuries-established nations - each of whom possessed their own economic and colonial interests beyond their homeworld. In the following years, a war would ravage the entirety of their system - leaving behind merely ashes and tears. The causes of the war today still remain up to debate; whether it was one faction’s trespassing, violations of established charters, mining rights… Regardless, in the aftermath amidst the ashes, the sons of the fallen, amidst all animosity cast out the old regimes and banded together - forming a new conglomerate for all Skellar to live free of wanton violence and political insecurity. 18. PRAHARAVKAN FEDERATION In light of recent events, the liberal government has come under fire for failure to contain the Gwangnanese insurgents. Despite Rodchenko inciting rebellion by opening fire on a crowd of protesters, he has garnered much sympathy from disgruntled Praharavkan leadership and common people alike - fed up with the Gwangnanese thorn in the side of Praharavka. At the same time, vacating the territory was out of the question, as it would simply fall into the hands of the CNSR. The nationalist party garners much support, with many generals crossing party lines - ready to do whatever necessary to pacify Gwangnan. Peace was never an option. More men and resources are called upon to subdue the western mountains. Engines once again roar into life, and boots crunch upon crisp snowfalls. Horrible timing, though Praharavka could not sit and wait for better weather while the Segi Keigu festered. Measures would need to be taken swiftly and action had decisively. Chief of the Aerial Staff and 1st Skylord Sir Pyotr Basevic becomes the head of the nationalist All-Praharavkan Front party, who to many is symbolic of Praharavka’s glory days and a testament of the country’s endurance and power, and hierarchical mobility through skill and worth. Praharavkan R&D double down on aerial power this year. Air Chief Marshal Sir Andrei Stepanov, an ally of Basevic, order improvements upon the old Li-3 torpedo fighter, and commission new dive bombers to pad out Praharavkan air wing compliments aboard PRAC carriers. In the coming years, they also hope to develop and mount FFARs to their fighter planes. PRAHA INFO Head of State: H.M. 19. THE GRAND DUCHY OF PRAHARAVKA “-Martial Law.” Came the raspy voice of 1st Skylord Sir Pyotr Basevic, devoid of tone and bereft of sleep - he sagged beneath the eyes more than usual - appearing ever the grouch. It was apparent he did not want to be here. In fact he was summoned early morning to attend an Army and Air Corps Staff on the date he planned to take his family out for breakfast. “Your Excellency, do you not believe that would serve to incite the Gwangnanese further?” inquired a voice across the room, the table opposite, and the seats of the Army Staff. “We’ve tried peace, Major General Bendarik. And it failed us.” came a voice beside Basevic, that of Rear Admiral Leonid Beznosov. “With all due respect - if we crack down - and the results do not go as intended. It is our men on the ground with their lives on the line.” said Bendarik. “Major General, we’re aware of the potential consequences. We believe a soft-handed approach is no longer viable. Gwangnanese guerillas run rampant throughout the mountain, with Nikstranian weapons, mind you - while we sit on our asses.” said Beznosov. “Martial Law isn’t the answer.” Bendarik merely shakes his head. “We need to convince them to trust us and their regional government. We need to win them over - and that won’t be achieved by setting curfews and firing squadding whoever we please.” Generals Abramtsov and Kalinin nodded, agreeing with Bendarik. Rodcheko however interjects, “ Lock down the borders. Shut down arms. Smoke them out of the mountains. Clean up the rest.” “So you agree?” Basevic raised an otherwise droopy brow, “You make it sound so easy.” “It is - for those who won’t let madness prevail. I’ll bring order back to Gwangnan, mark my words.” Rodchenko’s peers conversed among themselves, hushed. “And if not?” Beznosov squinted. “His resignation, I suppose.” Major General Vasechkin threw up his hands. Rodchenko dismissed the possibility, retorting, “Have some faith.” Basevic sighed, looking over Rodchenko, “Don’t fret, Vasily. We won’t be out to hang you over our collaborative failure.” PRAHA INFO Head of State: H.M. 20. GRAND DUCHY OF PRAHA In light of the growing insurgency in Gwangnan, the Ducal Administration realized they would need to act quickly if they were ever to cement everlasting control over the territories. As a soft measure, the Gwangnan Occupied Zone, or otherwise referred to as the GOZ, are designated as the Gwangnanese Commonwealths - to turn attention away from the idea that Praharavka is a foreign invader and occupying force. Of course, they realize more work will need to be done and a simple bandage won’t stop the bleeding. A large portion of the Praharavkan budget is dedicated to rebuilding and restructuring Gwangnan - turning them away from the reigns of the Red Menace. Institutions of old are drawn upon and newfound knowledge is used to create a more moderate and tolerable government in Gwangnan. The overall aim - to deliver to the Gwangnanese people what the GCP could never do. To tighten Praharavka’s grip upon the Gwangnanese Commonwealths, Praharavka aims to establish several permanent military installations and forward operating bases in the country. More than 100,000 personnel are transferred into Gwangnan - to act as the first line of defense between Praharavka and the Communist threat. Surviving generals of the War of Gwangnanese Aggression are given key posts and in charged with maintaining the defense and stability of the region, such as Fyodorovich, Bendarik, and Rodchenko. From these new bases, anti-insurgency operations can begin in earnest. Strikes are coordinated from the air, where Praharavka ships locate communist-sympathizing cells, shelling them where they can, and hanging back if ground troops are needed to flush out the rebels. It is expected with appropriate care and action, Gwangnan would be more than happy to exist peacefully alongside Praharavka. Aside from politics and occupations, Praharavka forces successfully cross the Western Ocean in search of new lands and opportunity - unfortunately after being initially turned back by inclement weather. The intrepid explorers eagerly cast off, in hopes of earning fame and honor in the name of Praharavka. With so much of Praharavka’s attention turned abroad, perhaps it's time Praharavkans looked to liberalize and improve the mother country? Much will need to be considered in the years to come. Bills including universal women’s suffrage, child labor bans, and eight-hour workday standards are already in motion... 21. GRAND DUCHY OF PRAHARAVKA A quiet year in Praharavka, all things considered. The war is won, however leaving behind many grudges even to the victor. The Army blames the Navy for allowing the war crime-complicit Gwangnanese Navy to escape into CNSR airspace. On the other hand, the Navy, points blame to the Army for not acting decisively enough and allowing Gwangnanese territory to be absorbed by the CNSR. Other than that, many are content with the outcome of the war. Unlike their less fortunate Emmerian friends across the mountains, Praharavkan troops never went face to face with the horrific gas weaponry employed by Adachi. Nevertheless, a mandate passes in which gas masks are to be issued to each and every soldier, with plenty kept in reserve on the homefront. More tanks roll off the production lines, and the Ducal Administration seeks more able-bodied young men to recruit - seeing now that Praharavka controls a vast stretch of territory. Veterans of the War of Gwangnanese Aggression maintain a permanent station in Gwangdon, while new bloods are drawn to the border with the CNSR, ever so wary of the Red’s next moves. 22. GRAND DUCHY OF PRAHARAVKA ROLEPLAY Poludnitsev grabbed the handle of the commander’s hatch, opening the tank to the outside world. He sighed, climbing out the turret and rested atop the vehicle. In his periphery was a serene, lush valley - one that had thus far been untouched by the fighting. White-capped mountains with coniferous trees scaling the sides, shrouded by large white clouds. The sun shone through, gracing the Praharavkan men with their warmth, often not felt in the far northern reaches of their homeland. It was unsettling. All of it. Aside from the blunder at Edo, there had been no real fighting. After being granted the honor of being a leading element of Fyodorovich’s Armored Fist, he did not expect to see so little combat. He shook his head, “So much for a war.” he said subconsciously. “Chin up, comrade Commander. I’m sure we’ll see our share of it in the coming weeks.” called Ludomir from the front, driver’s port swung wide open. “If they don’t surrender by then.” he tapped his fingers upon steel. Baranovich interjected, “Why have we seen so little resistance?” “Maybe its bait.” called Ludomir with a strain in his voice, hauling himself out the front of the vehicle, relieved to set his boots on firm ground and soil. For a moment he stumbled, as if he had lost his land legs. Composing himself, he patted down his pockets, and looked eager to take a walk. Poludnitsev squinted, “You don’t ensnare your foe by ceding half a country.” “I hear they’re gearing up for a large offensive.” Bogdan said, seemingly appearing from thin air, cradling a 76mm shell in his arms. “Now uh, if you’ll excuse me.” he said, making for the tank. Poludnitsev took that as his cue to exit, hopping off the tank while Bogdan climbed it and joining Ludomir. “Best keep our wits about us then.” “Aye, we ought to keep our guard up. I hear to the North, resistance is fierce. Our boys are squaring up against the Kandistani Mountain Commandos.” said Ludomir. “Pfft.” Baranovich scoffed, joining the two on the ground. “Apparently one of their marksmen shot General Kolodkin right through the skull.” Ludomir continued. “Such is the price of war.” Poludnitsev murmured, then eager to change the topic of conversation, “Alright, I’m starving, enough of this. Bogdan, we’ll be at the mess if you care to join us.” he then called out. From inside was a dull thud, followed by a hollow, “Ow.” no doubt, Bogdan hit his head on the roof. “Yeah I’ll be there.” he replied, rubbing his scalp, cursing himself under his breath, gazing down the armor piercing shell he had so recklessly dropped and lay propped upon the floor of the tank, “I’m more a danger to myself than are these Gwangnanese.” PRAHA INFO Head of State: H.M. 23. GRAND DUCHY OF PRAHA THE RESTORATION WAR Once Praharavka had believed it could sit idly by, neutral, as Empires crumbled around them while men died fighting fruitless wars in the names of their country’s elite. When the Grand Duchy found itself roped into the Great War, it was discovered that they were no better than the rest. They were compelled to action, with fervor never before seen. However, as the war drew on and casualties tolled, Praharavka’s bright outlook and fighting attitude dissipated like the rest. Always headstrong and honorbound, to reject the call to arms was unfathomable. Had they had known the price the Great War would extract, they’d most likely have withheld the lives of their sons, brothers, and fathers. Yet to say the war was regrettable, would be an insult to the lives they had laid down in the service of their country. Loyalty to country was paramount among Praharavkan society - before even family. Everyone would have to make sacrifices for the common good. Now, so soon after the Great, not more than ten years, the people of Praharavka were asked once more to risk it all. In a short span, a dependable and stable neighbor had fallen to the communist plague. Gwangnan, a former monarchist state, now turned Red, right upon Praharavka’s border. This was unacceptable. As long as they remained, their dangerous ideology would diffuse across the border and prove to be a staging ground for a potential incursion into the Praharavkan heartlands. Thus, it became evident that Gwangnan would need to be liberated from their proletarian oppressors; the aim to reinstate Imperial rule in the Mountains. Praharavkan Ground Forces amassed on the eastern and southern borders, with the PRAC’s steel behemoths close overhead. The Declaration of War was transmitted to Gwangnan. And at that moment, the Praharavkan Army began their foray into neutral territory. Engines sputtered into life, whistles blew sounding an advance, and the ominous drone of Airships resonated as the Naval vessels lumbered forward. This was the largest troop movement Praharavka had conducted in a decade, ever since the Great War had stagnated. With new tools and technology at their disposal, High Command had been optimistic that this war would be one of mobile and decisive punches. The last thing they had hoped for was another Great War. The same mistakes would not be repeated. A Praharavkan tank column streams towards the Gwangnanese border. PRAHA INFO Head of State: H.M. 24. GRAND DUCHY OF PRAHA In the face of total destruction of Corvinist forces, Praharavkan attachees and military observers were quickly withdrawn from the Confederacy. Praharavka had gambled, and they had bet wrong. Cards were being played and measures were being explored to potentially lend aid Corvin and his loyalists - prematurely recognizing his government’s legitimacy. However, these plans were quickly shattered as Corvin’s advance stalled at the Communist capital at Aranak. New has reached hard and fast - of the collapse of Corvinist forces and the fall of Hunthelm. The Anarein Civil War truly was over. The conflict’s victor was less than optimal, with the Confederate Socialist Anarein Cantons rising in its place - now, a major player in the Communist Bloc. Even worse, the prized armour designs Praharavka so desperately sought were solely in the hands of the CSAC. Being no fool, Praharavka needed to act quickly to continue the mechanization of their armed forces. Although overshadowed by the spending reserved for the PRAC, a new wave of tanks and armored personnel carriers rolled off the assembly lines - with it, a whole new slew of recruits. As the Armoured Corps slowly began to take shape, it was determined that five tanks would comprise a tank platoon, with five platoons comprising a regiment, and 4 regiments comprising a brigade. With Praharavka’s limited supply of vehicles, tanks remain as tactical assets, perhaps being incorporated into proper divisions in the near future. In the meantime, Army High Command seeks to witness firsthand the tactics they had so devised and toiled upon for months. Elements from all branches of service are pulled to Pavlovsk Proving Grounds to participate in Praharavka’s First Annual Wargames. Though designed to increase battle readiness and efficiency for the Armed Forces, the event boiled down to an aggressive battle of influence between the Army and Navy - both who sought to steal the day and prove their status as the superior branch. Nevertheless, lines are drawn, and observers make note of weaknesses and strengths alike, while potential recruits determine which arm of the service they are destined for. Further iterations of this experiment would be need to be refined for the future. Perhaps it was time to look externally for other participants. At least then could the two services turn their rivalry outward. PRAHA INFO Head of State: H.M. 25. GRAND DUCHY OF PRAHA INTER-SERVICE RIVALRY Lt-Col. Poludnitsev’s tank brigade has been redeployed to the interior heartland of Praharavka. Therefore, they had much to talk about during their downtime. Essentially, nearly every day was shore-leave. There wasn’t much use for their tanks in the midst of friendly territory - especially not tearing up what few paved roads the country possessed. To many, Praharavka could be seen as a rural backwater. Were it not due to the Northern Railroad Junction, there would be nearly no connection to the outside world. Fewer rails actually join Praharavka’s cities to one another. Travel was restricted to dirt paths. And as the tanks roll through, one might be certain that there’d be not much left of that road. Poludnitsev was a native to the Praharavkan capital of St. Abelsburg. Meanwhile, his crewmates were pulled from all disparate corners of the realm. Alexei was a northern, through and through. It reflected in him - cold and unforgiving. Bogdan was a woodlander, hailing from Praharavka’s densely wooded, western frontier. He was a realist, most in tune with the natural order. On the other hand, the innocent Baranovich claimed descent from a lineage of farmers, cultivating the southern Prahan fields. Because of this diversity in their ranks, their crew drew upon the experience of all ends of Praharavkan society. A motley bunch, but a bond strong as steel. Due to Poludnitsev’s familiarity with the local area, he knew all the best places in the city. Their leave had taken them to the Cornerstone Crevice, one of the best, though affordable, taverns in the district. The crew, all five of them, were all huddled around a circular table near the window. They sat upon high stools, with numerous mugs at varying degrees of emptiness in front of them. The men made the most of their time, enjoying an honest conversation as a waitress swung by and offered Alexei and Bogdan new glasses. With mug in hand, Ludomir scoffed, “You hear? The War Ministry is cutting more of the Army’s funding in favor of the PRAC.” “Course they are.” remarked Poludnitsev, focusing on the contents of his glass, “There’s nothing glamorous about being covered in sh-t and mud. People would rather serve in the Air Corps if given the chance.” “Not me.” Bogdan said, as he finished off his drink. “I volunteered for this sh-t.” “Yeah?” Baranovich raised a brow. Though technically the new kid, he acclimated himself to the crew. “How’d you score on the aptitude test?” “2150.” “Goddamn.” said Baranovich in astonishment. “That could’ve landed you a cushy job as a fleet signals officer.” “Mhm. But instead, I’m stuck here with you sad bastards.” he chuckled, beckoning the waitress for a refill. “Good thing. Fuckin’ hate those fly-boys. Think they’re hot sh-t.” Alexei cursed. Ludomir looked up and paused. He craned his head over the booth, past the heads of his comrades. From where he sat, he could get a clear view of the entrance. A bell chimed as the door flung open and entered a band of airmen in their bright blue dress uniforms and caps, kempt and pristine. They walked and presented themselves with an air of arrogance - leaning upon the front counter with smug and punchable faces. “Speak of the Devil.” he murmured. A few glances shot towards the airmen, as they proved to be obscenely loud and boisterous. “Aviators.” Alexei spat, a wad of spittle landed on the hardwood floor to the side. Alexei practically seethed. Baranovich reached over, grabbing Alexei’s arm, “Hey, bud, you alright?” Alexei shook off his grip. “Alright, let’s not do anything hasty.” advised Poludnitsev. “You know what - think we’re done here, right?” he called the waitress over, quickly tossing some bills onto the table as he asked for the check. They quickly stood, and gathered their belongings, and made for the exit. However, one of the airmen intercepted them. Whether he was looking for a tussle was unknown. But as he stood face to face with Alexei, it was not lung until the fists started flying. A brief exchange, and then pandemonium. In truth, nobody even remembered what the man had said, only that he had been knocked straight onto his back. As both parties rushed to aid their comrades, several knees to gut, quick punches, and kicks were exchanged, leaving the airmen reeling in pain and on the ground. They quickly departed the scene, bursting through the door, and leaving through the back alleys. Their noses were bloodied, though they had made scampered off in good spirits and laughed along the way. PRAHA INFO Head of State: H.M.
