  1. "When the gates of diplomacy are tightly shut, conflict arises" The acolyte spoke before continuing his studies.
  2. "The Church has already showed us that it will not rule with His Grace, but with temporal powers. Trying times for the Church are ahead" The acolyte spoke as he crossed the lorraine over himself.
  3. The young acolyte brought a hand to his temple as he gazed at the finished thesis on his table. It had taken so much of his time and so much preparation that he should not feel anything but happiness, and yet... Yet he could not bring himself to smile. His eyes then moved to his bag as he quickly retrieved the letter his tutor had sent him, it was old, but he had only just gotten it. The teen took a deep breath as he then opened it to give it a read, his eyes welling up as he did so. "When would you like to meet to discuss your thesis?" Vladvar shook his head, maybe if he had responded Alaric would not have been killed, maybe he would be there to help the Cardinal... But he didn't, and now his dear teacher would never be able to read any of his works. The teen then promised himself that he'd carry out Alaric's legacy of a theology of Love, not hatred, and that he'd live out his life as well as his tutor did, so that one day they'd meet again in the afterlife.

  6. Father Randir, now a blabbering old priest living in total seclusion deep into what once was the Salvian marshes, eyed curiously at the missive before he gave it a read, when he finished reading it, he spoke to himself "This certainly wasn't Cedric's he was too noble-friendly, couldn't be Tristan's because I saw his dead body, couldn't be Marrin's because even though she was our sheriff she would not hurt a fly, couldn't be Levi's because he likes to attack without warning... Did I write this?" The father scratched his long and unkept beard "I don't remember writing this... Must have been Iblees' doing if I wrote such" He scratched the bald spot on his head as he gave a final thought to it before he used the missive as a toilet paper, it surely could not go unused.

As such, to guarantee the burning spirit of Republicanism, in which our dear Nation is grounded on, the once centralized (and tyrannical) power of government, who devised plans and acted on its own volition, disregarding the will and health of the people it ruled over, was overthrown and, in its place, the Republic was set. 12. 'If the Republic is not the right path of the pious, then why does He allows us only to succeed?' The Father-Senator would think to himself as he signed the Constitution with a wide grin.
  13. I can happily bestow upon you, reece, the title of GOAT. You da man!!!
  14. “So to you Sons of Malin, who have fallen to other faiths, I admonish: GOD is in all creation, and divinity comes not from the verdure nor the beasts of this world, but are breathed into them by Him.“ (Spirit, 4:16) As Father Randir faced the grave he had just recently dugged, he brought a hand up to his face and scratched his chin before he took off his mask and, slowly, caressed his temple with a loud sigh and mumbled “The day sure did not go as expected”. The priest then looked to his right as his horse diligently stood there “‘Saul’s Legacy’, quite the befitting name” he thought to himself as a smile creeped up on his lips, unfortunately the smile did not last long as his eyes continued their way into what his horse was carrying, the sole reason of why he was there, alone, in the middle of nowhere. On his horse lied, wrapped in a bloodied cloth, the headless body of an elf he had not the pleasure, or displeasure, of meeting in life, the Silver Lubba, or the Merchant-King, the nickname did not matter anymore, well at least the priest hoped that it was the intended target, he couldnt be certain after all the chaos. In fact, the only thing that he knew that mattered was that deceased deserved a righteous funeral that one only the Good Lord could offer. So the Father inhaled deeply before he gently took the supposed Lubba’s body off his horse and put it into the grave, he’d then get the shovel he used to dig that same hole to fill it back with dirt. As he did so, his mind wandered to all that had happened that day. How quickly they stormed the gates of Lurin, how, in a blur, they were already inside the palace, face to face with the tyrant, how he fell and how the men boasted with his head all the way back to Salvos. That, he recollected, was when his duty called, he’d have happily cherished the victory with the men, given the opportunity, but it never came, and he was happy it didn’t, for he loved the silent job of a priest. So as the men raised the head of the tyrant in a spike in front of the saloon, he whistled for his horse and made his way back to the city. Once again he entered Lurin, though the last time he had done that his heart was racing so much he could barely think, now he could only feel peace as his horse ambled into the city. All was quiet, the tyrant had told his citizens to evacuate the capital and its surroundings, and they did it, maybe too eagerly, as there was none to defend the Lubba. Slowly he made his way up to the palace, with his mind focused on nothing but the carcass of the deceased elf, unforunately to him, too many were left in the same state, so he had to choose the one he thought looked more similar, and, hopefully, it was enough, after he wrapped the body in the finest silk he could find before throwing it over his horse and taking his leave. The priest knew the dangers of setting up a grave near the abandoned city, so he made his way back to the town of Salvos and, though he trusted his peers, he decided not to risk it, so he chose the farthest island possible to act as the supposed Silver Lubba’s resting place. “The Good Lord had spoken” thought the priest “if our republican cause was to be unjust, surely God would have not favoured us, that is certain”. At that moment he realized he had finished filling the grave with dirt. Father Randir then knelt beside the grave before he retrieved a vial of holy water from his satchel, he’d then dip his index and middle finger in it before he crossed the lorraine over himself. “The Good Lord of the universe, creator of All and second to none, the Most Merciful, have mercy on this soul as he reunites with You once more in the afterlife. May his sins be forgiven and may his soul find peace by your side. Though he lacked in life, may he now seek your forgiveness. Amen.”. The Father then got up and, before he left, stared at the grave for a moment as a certain apathy took over him. It was not his place to judge or elaborate any excuses, he did his priestly duties as he was supposed. The tyrant had fallen because of his own actions, Salvos and its republican ideals would live longer, how much longer he could not say, but at least one tyrant longer. And with that he felt a fire start in his heart as he then walked towards his horse once more, he could not save everyone, but as long as he could save those dear to him, his peers in Salvos, and all of those who stood by what was right, he was happy. “Freedom requires blood and democracy requires ending one tyrant at a time. May the next one meet the same fate” With that Father Randir would hop on his horse and put his wooden mask back on, he then offered the supposed Last Silver Lubba one final solemn nod before taking his leave to Salvos. After all, it was a day of celebrations.
  15. "Power to the people! Lurin shall be Res Publica!" Father Randir yelled from wherever he was.
  16. "May the Lord grant the poor soul the peace it so deserves." The priest would cross the lorraine over himself as he reminisced about the patrol before resuming his priestly duties in Salvos.
  17. The Lord blesses Salvos! “How would I know if I’m worthy? Would the skies shine brighter? Would my plants grow greener? Would my pockets fill with money? No, obviously not The Lord does not appear to those who seek Him out for material gains He appears to those who having lost everything they had for their faith in Him Still seek Him out And, in response, He doesn’t shower them with gold Nor He gives them what is mundane The only reward for a diligent faith Is Him Forgive me, then, O Lord For all the time spent praying for what is not mine For wasting my precious time with envy of what I’ve had not When truthfully All I need is You.” - Unknown Salvian Poet Prosperity of wealth, for a town, comes from acquiring gold, prosperity of safety comes from having few crimes, what about prosperity of Faith? Well it can’t come from nowhere but from the piety of its inhabitants, but what shows the piety of the people? For a long while, primarily in my years studying as an acolyte, I’ve tried to seek the answer to the question of how are we to be pious, as a city? And how does the Lord show us we are in the right course? +++++ +++++ (Salvian Canonist Tree of Knowledge) I’ve prayed, prayed, and then prayed some more and yet got no answer whatsoever… That was until last saint’s day, which happened to also be the day of my ordination into priesthood. Salvos has been my home for a few years, and though the swamps that surround it can be quite the problem for a decent life, nonetheless its populace thrived economically, and where there once a few houses, now exists a whole town center, with a sheriff’s office, a saloon and a keep, and primarily, the chapel of St. Edmond. It has suffered attacks from bandits, saulicians (darkspawn) and even frost witches, and yet, through all of these setbacks, the people have not given up on their dreams nor their faith. And it saddened me, for all they prayed and seeked out His Holy Church, I couldn’t help them out, being a mere acolyte, but, by finding strength in their strength, I completed my studies and was ordained as a priest by my tutor Cardinal Ivan Lotharia and Cardinal Clover Mount Lemon. I had left Salvos while the Sheriff’s elections were happening an acolyte and returned to it as its parish priest. On the trip back I was struck with the same, unanswered, question I’ve had for a while “Are we faithful enough?”. The moment I set foot in Salvo's saloon, I was approached by Marrin Wyrmwood, a fellow halfling Salvian who was running for the Sheriff position, who asked me to be baptised under the Lord’s Holiest Church. And at that moment I realized the Lord had rewarded me for my patience and faith in Him and answered all the questions I’ve had till now. . . . After a lengthy conversation about the importance of baptism in our path to reconnect with Him, and what it truly meant, she, certainly guided by His Holy Will, accepted to be baptised. Salvians’ lifes are extremely influenced by the swamp surrounding their lands, so it's only fair that all of their baptisms are to be done in the swamp’s water. So we walked through densely packed patches of marshes until I found the perfect place for the rite to occur. . . . “Do you come as a seeker of God, faithful, penitent, and reverent, obeying the path of Virtue?” “Yes, I do” “Do you put your faith in His truth, the Holy Scrolls, the Exalted, and the Church?” “I do” “Then as the Book of Horen says ‘I cleanse you. And you join God’s servants’. I baptise you in the name of God. Be cleansed by the waters of Gamesh and be free from all sin and vice” “Rise, Marrin of Salvos, not as a sinner who cowers away from Him, but as a faithful who seeks His light!” +++++ +++++ . . . I sit here now, writing this missive, after all that happened, and I can answer the questions of how are we to be pious, as a city? And how does the Lord show us we are in the right course? It is through acts of piety to Him, be it every prayer, every baptism, every mass, every marriage, every funeral, all of those acts demonstrate the prosperity of Faith in a city. And what of the Lord’s guidance? Well, after today I finally understand, we demonstrate our love to Him THROUGH our rites, and He demonstrates His eternal love to us BY our rites. To all of those struggling with their faith, do not give up, He is always with you, guiding you to what is Good and shielding you away from what is Evil. Seek your nearest priest and ask them to help you in your life of worship. And, if you are nearby, come visit Salvos, have a drink in our saloon, be baptised in our marshes and talk to our citizens, we all love a good talk here. Ending Prayer: Bless us, Good Lord. Bless our rites. Bless our Virtues. Bless our hearts. Punish us when we sin and grant us your infinite mercy when we repent Good Lord in Heaven. Protect us from harm. Blessed be the pious, blessed be the mothers, the daughter, the fathers and the sons of God Who deny Evil and accept Good. Who in troubled times pray for You. And in thriving times seek You. May the pious people of Salvos live in Your Light from this day to their last breath. And may those are lost find their way back to You. Amen. Pastor of the chapel of St. Edmond, Salvos.
  18. IF YOU WORK FOR IBLEES DO NOT COME!
  19. "With patience and humility, we shall fulfill His Holy Will" The acolyte signed the lorraine over himself as he finished reading the missive, a big smile would form on his lips.
  20. The chaotic Salvian Justice System A society dictated by law and respect relies on a judge, who after evaluating the arguments of conflicting parties resolves the dispute with a final and definitive ruling over it, which may or may not also be judged itself by a higher court. A respectable society which garners itself as progressive and fair executes justice in that way, what about a society that does not thirst for such ideals? How does a stateless society work? To be more precise, how do the rowdy, lawless, sinful and, above all, canonist people of the marshlands of Lurin resolve their disputes? Cartoonish depiction of a Salvian Standoff Well, the answer is as simple as it could possibly be, by MIGHT, of course! Conflicting parties resolve their disputes by beating eachother to a pulp, and whoever remains is declared the RIGHTEOUS of the cause. No judges but the Lord Himself, no help but their own two fists, if you got a demand, fight it on the grounds of the Barony of Salvos. If your case is GOOD, than the LORD will be favourable to you and you shall rise above your ENEMY, if its not and HE to judges you unworthy, then understand your cause LACKED from the beginning. Though they lack a material figure of power that reigns over their disputes, they do not lack FAITH in what is sacred. In a land where scarcity is the rule and surviving requires constant fighting, the dividing line between GOOD and EVIL gets blurry every so often, but that is not to say that they abhor what is CIVIL, it is just that the bar is much lower when struggle is COMMON and misplaced trust can cost EVERYTHING. Added with the many different backgrounds and customs of its populace, it remains clear how civility fails, as those who live in CHAOS respect nothing but FORCEFUL ORDER. Amidst the swamps surrounding Salvos lay an ancient bridge that once connected the main keep to the road, that rumour has it once belonged to an extinct Paladin Order, but as with the people residing there, its past matters not if it failed in becoming future. So, broken and abandoned, the Salvians used its carcass to build on it their court of justice, nicknaming it “The Tribunal”, it serves the essencial function of grounds on where disputes are resolved. The two conflicting parties are to arrive in "The Tribunal" on a previously agreed time, wearing nothing but their clothes and carrying nothing but their fists on their hands. The attacker, who is denouncing a damage done by another, is to enter through the "A" Entrance, while the defendant, who is being denounced of the said damage, is to enter through the "B" Entrance. They, then, are to meet at the center so that a canonist priest can offer the LORD a prayer to validate the fight. After, the attacker is to loudly denounce the defendant of the damage in question, as well as set the possible terms of resolution of the conflict. If the defendant agrees to the conditions, then it is to be respect by ALL, for the LORD blessed the parties with diplomacy. If the defendant is to deny the terms, both the attacker and the defendant are to walk 10 (ten) steps away from eachother, for that represents how deep their graves are to be digged if they are to die on the fight. Once both are correctly apart, the priest who is overseeing the case will do a prayer for each of the two souls present on "The Tribunal" before starting the countdown (usually starting from ten). The parties are free to fight as they see fit, as long as they do not leave the combines of "The Tribunal". No one is allowed to interfere in the case till its ending, which will happen either by voluntary will, such as one of the parties admiting defeat, or involuntary will, such as a parties' death or passing out. After the fighting concludes, the WINNER is declared RIGHTEOUS of the case before leaving the grounds of "The Tribunal", the priest is to, then, check on the LOSER'S health state, if he simply passed out, he is to be taken out of the grounds and put in the safety of a nearby wagon, but if he died on the fight, he is to be buried on a unmarked grave nearby, 10 feet deep in the ground, with all of the belongings on his body remaining untouched. Though the nearby Salvians are able to hear the thuds and screams of the fights happening in "The Tribunal" they prefer to just continue on their, exhausting, day, for the hours spent watching the fight can be better used to secure their survival. In the rare case a crowd forms, they usually are extremely quiet and expressionless as they watch the case unfold. On the occasion of death of one parties in the fight, they make sure to roam around the priest as he prepares the body and the burial of the fallen, and they make sure to remember the exact location of the grave. Those who did not partake in the watching of the fight can always hear a distant sound of fighting in the night after someone dies in "The Tribunal", as those who've lost respect for the dead struggle against the living to obtain anything of value from the bodies, but they do not judge, for only the LORD can. If they spare a moment, which mostly don't, it is simply to mutter a well known Salvian saying "Peace, only in death, Honor, only in wealth".
  21. "God grants us the strength to defeat his enemies. Praised He be!" The young acolyte muttered to himself as he read the missive.
  22. "May we all have Brother Vincenzo's strength when dealing with matters of the same nature. It is not easy to strike down someone who was once a brother, but is more righteous than allowing him stray away from the Lord's light" The young acolyte would mutter to himself before continuing his studies.
  23. "The Lord is always Good" The young Acolyte told himself with a smile as he read the translated bull.
