  1. MC Name: Medvekoma

    Character's Name: Koralon Onyxheart

    Character's Age: 219

    Character's Race:

    Dark Dwarf

    Link to your accepted MA:

What magic(s) will you be teaching?

    Conjuration

Summarise the Lore of this magic(s):

Evocation of the living – constructing a moving, acting and almost-living being from the void to temporarily serve the sorcerer. As like any evocation, the very creature, plant or primodial thus summoned will feel like an actual one (taken that the caster dedicated enough time to study it, and did not conjure an abomination that ceased to move straight away), its existence tied to the sorcerer’s mana just as its actions and whims tied to the summoner’s will.

Also entailing primodials, creatures of the elements summoned by a master of both conjuration and elemental evocation. A primodial takes the shape the conjurer wishes, but its elemental shape will always be fed by a core; the physical manifestation of a mana anchor in the centre of the primodial which – if destroyed – will cease the spell and vanish the elemental.

Do you have a magic(s) you are dropping due to this app? If so, link it:

    N/A

Do you agree to keep the ST updated on the status of your magic app?:

    Aye

Have you applied to teach this magic on this character before, and had it denied? If so, link the app.

    Applied, was never denied.

  2. Ink sacks are pretty much unobtainable due to the lack of squids spawning.

A quick fix to this was adding ink sacks to CT for a rather steep price.

An even better solution would be to increase the chance of getting ink sacks from fishing, so that every 4th-5th fished item is an ink sack. This way players will be able to gather it through some effort and it may return to the market as an actual traded commodity.

There’s no reason to not lock a news post, since it’s just that, news. If anyone wants to discuss it they make a separate thread.

Here, we made a thread so you know this announcement, on forums where you can reply to threads, but we won’t allow you to reply to it, but you can make your own threads to reply to it, which we’ll also lock.

  4. A simple survey of the “News” section:

    10th page – 2 locked threads

    9th page – 2 locked threads

    8th page – 2 locked threads

    7th page – 5 locked threads

    6th page – 1 locked thread

    5th page – 2 locked threads

    4th page – 6 locked threads

    3rd page – 8 locked threads

    2nd page – 8 locked threads

    1st page – 8 locked threads

Why do threads require locking, unless they devolve into name-calling or something that’s very obviously against forum rules? I have seen multiple announcement and feedback threads locked for no apparent reason. The very first thought that comes to mind is that staff want to avoid negative comments in the news section. Is that in any ways positive?

This wasn’t a practice in place before the latest round of admins.

What was the point of locking these threads? Most of them likely would have garnered attention & comments from the community.

  5. I had such an encounter with Wood elven leadership prior, when they caught us doing dark dwarf banditry.

They behaved like typical elves: told us we prolly had way enough time to slip away if we wanted to and were cool about it.

Communication's key I guess and you are ought to point this out if someone bumrushes you. For us a simple "Could we react to hearing/noticing the company arrive?" did it, albeit once again, all players involved were calm and cool-headed.

  6. The issue is this:

    1. The old format deterred lazy people, but allowed anyone with half a brain to fill it out and get approved.
    1. The new format is longer; it will only deter more people, while there is zero re-assurance it’ll increase difficulty.

I think some more practical changes can benefit the whitelist system more.

    - If you remove the unnecessary bloat on questions but increase approval standards, it’ll deter less people while increase quality.

I think, and I can’t support this claim, that if someone makes an app, they are likely to return and correct it. Whereas if they are deterred by the length / effort, they won’t return.

Also, add a bloody link to the LOTC PMC skin depository into the “link your skin” section.

Well, I wont lie, ever since Mogroka left the server, Harold has been so bored, he is even considering playing other games.

Also, it would be fine if for example, staff on this server were also staff on another, for example building or pvping server. But being staff to a server who is directly opposing LotC (Both being RP servers), it doesnt really sound nice.

Last part, I didnt read anything at all, sorry @Fireheart_  @Medvekoma hi ?

Can you please pass comment on the fact that two out of three of the global moderation managers on the moderation team ( @Pun, @Corpean) and one of your global moderators ( @Sky) are all in staff positions within a rival server run by former dissatisfied members of LoTC, that has shown serious issue with LoTC as an overall server, the community within it, and more notably, with the staff itself?

These are the ones who are notable on the moderation team, who are involved in a staff capacity, but I am sure there are more throughout the staff. While I don’t have an issue with those who wish to create and run, competition within the small corner of Minecraft that is MCRP, I do take issue with having people in powerful positions who could possibly defect, and cause harm to the server and staff in the long-run.

    Looking forward to your response,

    Cheers, H.

    @Telanir

Both rival server projects were started up during the time you were part of the administration team, partially as a result of decisions you have made. There ain’t any rule preventing them from doing so, but can’t /you/ comment on it first, in light of the above?

  9. Right now the most prominent damage to your server is not new player retention but old player retention. Two servers popping up and a third syphoning players.

You are betting on newcomers who may or may not stick around where you are losing dozens of players who have led nations, co-led organisations, made videos of the server and wrote part of your lore.

    Get your **** together.

  10. “I’m gone for 20 years and the dwarves are in a civil war again. As expected, Fimlin. You were welcomed to Kaz’Ulrah for reconciliations, I sat with you for discussions and you drank our mead. Only to wage war on us and prance on the corpses of starved and dead Dwedmar, crowned a king of nothing.”

Holy magic is being voted on at the moment my dude, necromancy is due soon so we’ll be reviewing that soon, dunno what you mean by “magic” and “crafting” though as that’s rather vague. If you mean the magic overhaul, that’s still being worked on but due to people having midterms the voidal one is taking longer than expected. fwitches/azdrazi/soul trees are being reviewed within the next few days (if they aren’t already). Alchemy has been voted on and I think is going to be implemented soon while some of the more niche things are worked on (e.g. homunculi). Lore signing I think I’ve figured out, just need to do a review amongst the team to see if they are fine with the idea (going to try reaching out to the devs to see if they have time to make some edits to the /edit function, should be cool if they do). I’ll likely be making a lore update thread soon to talk about this stuff more in-depth, so stay tuned for that. Though I’m going to be scheduling a community meeting first (expect a thread up in the next few days) as that’s something we haven’t done in a while and is something I would like to see.

If you have specifics you want to go over, feel free to hmu over discord my dude.

How awkward. You just passed the five weeks mark. Five weeks and no announcement, no threads, no update. And you shot down my critique with some gibberish about “right around the corner” and “about to be released”.

What say you, Flambo? Busy RL? Had other projects? Admin responsibilities drained your efforts?

Or will you just blame Telanir?

How about community update? Your new “community manager” made two threads in total, didn’t he? And like, one additional 2-paragraph announcement in a thread he locked right away.

Tick-tock-tick-tock. I wonder if we’ll have the “soon”, “tomorrow” and “just need a review” stuff two months after your promise.
