  2. D U C H Y O F U L Y A D AR The outskirts of Ulya The children of Ulya live in an unforgiving land, with the grand city of Ulya as its hearth. The elements, to a foreigner, can be lethal. There have been many tales of foreigners who have turned black as a result of the daily overnight freezes, turning hard as rock in a matter of hours. A man of Ulya however never freezes. His blood runs as red and hot as red stone of Mt.Arfast, the largest mountain of the Grumblers. They are immune to the Black Death which afflicts the foreigners, resulting in the mutilation of their bodies and the loss of several limbs. This gift, have allowed them to dominate what many old Empires and Kingdoms have inscribed in their now dusted texts and tablets as an inhospitable land. While southern invaders and occupiers have called the land a harsh, icy wasteland, the Reykverfis have called this land, their heartland, their home, with the people thriving on the effects of the icy landscape. From the jutting icebergs of the Frozen Gulf to the smoky white peaks of the Grumblers the people of these lands have mastered their environment. A quick stroll through the marketplace and port of the capitol will reveal that to you. Large convoys of Fishing ships are always present at the port of Ulya, whom leave into the blue in groups of 30-40 and return full to the brink of seafood. When the waters start to thaw, entire nets of shiny silver fish are deposited on the frozen boardwalk of the port, just below dangling Black Whales, which are the trophies of the convoy. Government Inspectors measure the whale, as the Duke each year rewards the lucky man who manages to kill the largest of these majestic deep sea creatures. One whale can feed an entire neighborhood for almost a year. Another group of soldiers oversee the collection of the 1/10th tax on all fishing convoys, which is seized in the name of the crown. On smaller ships, a variety of flipperred animals are dangling off the side of ships, strung by hooks up to the mast. One ship has 2 layers of a variety of penguins, walruses, and seals. One by one, a group of men standing on a raft hugging the ship is yanking the produce off the hook and tossing them on the deck of the port, where another group stacks them on wheelbarrows which are transported into one of the dozens of indoor markets. Here, artisans and traders fill shops and stores with layers upon layers of thick furs, pickled meats of all different kinds, and baskets full of plump dark berries of a variety of colours ranging from a vibrant purple to dark blue. Fur clad traders and mothers yanking distracted children back with arms reach roam between these shops, stores, and mobs attempting to secure the best price possible, utilising everything to their advantage, including their voices especially. This was crunch time within the Duchy, as within a week the ports would freeze over, and the fishing convoys would depart once more to start the cycle once again. The thaw of the Bay of Ghosts, with one ship in Harbor. This was the closest thing which the people of Ulyadar got to urban, cosmopolitan life, which is found in the cities of Ulya anf Yakur built under the mandate of the Duke Wimunt II of Ulya. However deep within the mountain sides or the snowy plains, life was a completely different story to tell. In these settings, technology is nearly non existent as these people live frozen in the ages and eons of their ancestors of old. They live mostly in small personal or familial structures built into the ice, called igloos. These igloos look like mere lumps of snow from afar, but inside can be spacious, and provide comfort to the inhabitants. The igloos house 4-6 people, and are found in clusters of 6-10 as related families commonly band together to form clans. A group of clans make up a tribe, of which there are 13 in the peninsula, all with their own subculture, traditions, and pedigrees. It is from these people, the backwards clans men of the white plains, that the people within the society contact for furs. These are the hunters, the warriors, the fur trappers. It is common to see hundreds of these strong burly men covered from head to toe in ornate furs in the markets, his eyes glancing over hundreds of tools for his laborious lifestyle. These people are the harvesters of wealth within the Duchy of Ulya, the exploiters of the luxurious Fur which a man will go mad for. When they find something they look for, they simply yank out one of the lower laying furs from their garments, and hand it to the lucky merchant. These people, albeit backwards and uncivilised in their ways, are the ones that the Duke relies upon to make up the core of the Levy, as many of these people are already handy with the bow or the sword. These two types of lifestyles, and the interactions between them, is what fuels the Dukedom. The peoples in the city rely upon the wild people for furs, while the wild people rely on the city people for tools and for food many times. What often times acts as a centripetal force between these two distinct classes is their unwavering faith-in Tykir, or the Blood God. The Grumblers The Blood God is the fear of every single living being in the land, it is he whom the men and women of Ulya go to for guidance, for power, for strength. To communicate with him one must go through Tancred, the newly declared Oracle of the Forge. He has been granted this prestigious title by rebuilding a powerful shrine to Tykir at the highest peak of the Grumblers, on Mt. Arfast. This ceremony was conducted in private and needed the sacrifices of 10 individuals, 2 must be in love, 2 must be in pain, 2 must be bonded, 2 must have been in conflict, and 2 must have been bleeding, with cuts along the arms, thighs, and neck. The ceremony, an anticipated event among the elite, was left to the hands of Tancred, and it was conducted privately in the smoldering peaks of the Grumblers. When Tancred arrived the following morning with a body covered in painted blood with white characters inscribed all over his body, in the midst of the groans and explosions of Mt. Arfast, signaling impending eruption to all the people of Ulya, many people knew immediately that Tancred had achieved to restart the Broken Oracle, or the Oracle of the Blood Forge. With this Oracle now the people had a channel of communication with Tykir, and Tancred served as the median. Tancred, now has grown in name and in influence to the Duke. The first reading of the Oracle dictated that a Blessing on the people of Ulya had been cast by Tykir, which has been reported to the people in the word of a Royal Proclamation: “To the Honourable people of Ulya, As I am sure many of you all know, as many of you all have read the texts and noticedthe signs, that the Great Tykir, is listening to us now. Yes, the Blood God has now cast his Blessings upon us, his loyal subjects. Shaman Tancred has managed to open the Oracle of the Blood Forge, and just like in the stories of old, God now speaks with us, God now talks with us, and God now blesses us, he blesses us with his guidance and his power to grow like the stars in the sky, and like the fish and the sea. In Honour of this revelation, a new town will be built at the mouth of Lake Svalfi, named Tykirfell. This will be a Bastion in the name of our lord, and a promise to him on the behalf of his subjects, to never falter in granting him undying allegiance and faith. 4. D U C H Y O F U L Y A D A R BRIEF History: The name Ulyadar comes from the term in the native vocabulary for ‘men of Ulya’. Ulya, is the principal settlement of the Reykverfi lands. It was the first, and for much of history, the only permanent settlement occupied by the Reykverfi peoples, which is why the people of the Duchy have coined such a denonym for themselves. The people of the Duchy live, breathe, and revolve around the city of Ulya, it is their home, it is their heart, and it is the source of their power amongst the many other small chiefdoms and nomadic tribesmen. Therefore to comprehend and understand the history of Ulyadar, you must know of the history of Ulya. The first logs of Ulya were laid after the Symonian Empire had barely breached the White Alps, as it is known among the Reykverfi peoples. The Reykverfi were the inhabitants of the Peninsula, and most of them share a very similar culture and are very homogenous ethnically, however they are fiercely divided by long drawn out pedigrees tracing their lineages back to before the Empire of Symon, including Gods, and their offspring. The Reyverkfi’s have been living in this lands for hundreds upon hundreds of years, however they lived in mostly hunter-gatherer societies and were not introduced to the methods of sustainable agriculture needed to shift lifestyles from nomadic clan-based hunter gatherer societies to the permanent settlements which were found in the rest of Naros, especially in Symon. However the Symon invasion forever changed the history of the Reykverfi forever. As written in the Chornicle of Ulya, the only reason why the Symon legion was able to penetrate the White Alps was because of a banished woman from a clan who lived straddling the Alps. The Hunter, known to Reykverfis as Hemsun, told the Symons of a mountain pass which penetrated the Alps, which conveniently led right into the heartland of the clan who banished her to begin with. The Symon General did not believe the woman, and instead imprisoned her and spent countless days and countless nights trying to find his own way through the icy snow capped peaks, however he had no avail. He finally decided to listen to Hemsun, after his second in command began suffering from the effects of the cold. Hemsun led the Symon soldiers through countless ravines and crevasses, until finally after 4 days of marching through the alps, the vast expanse of Reykverfi terrain was available to the taking of the militarily superior Symons. The legion was in the lands of the Reykverfi for only 6 months, but in that period of time they had already transformed the land forever. Within this period, Symon soldiers had established a fort and a settlement, of which the name was Mytila. The settlement at first, was simply just for the soldiers and the General, who was named Governor of the region. Later, the Symons ventured out and brutally enslaved the clan of Reykverfis which banished Hemsun, who became the wife of the Symon Governor, which is only remembered in Chronicles as Krepra. The Symon men lived in the settlement for almost 15 years, before the bulk of the soldiers departed back over the Alps as they were obligated by the then crippling Empire to fight elsewhere, after leaving a sizable garrison to maintain control. This 15 year period was named by the Rekverfi as the Blood Days, as the Symon men periodically went out and slaughtered hundreds of Rekverfis, attempting to establish their control over the land. They never could do so, as resistance was too stiff, Reykverfi arrows and fighters causing more damage then the Symons could sustain. Eventually, after the exodus of the bulk of the Symon men left, Hemsun and her son, Rakir, was left in charge. For almost 30 years, the Symon settlement, called Cinisi by the soldiers, remained the nightmare of any northern boy and girl. Most of the Symon men had produced children of Rekverfi blood but Symon minds and souls, which became the bulk of the soldiers participating in raiding parties against Rekverfi’s. This period created a high sense of militarization among the Reykverfi, as constant raids and combat made the society increasingly patriarchal and warrior based, a big diversion away from equal sex roles. This was the driving factor behind Ulya the Great, a Tribal Chieftain from a fishing clan near the coast, who lead a united force of Reykverfi warriors from all corners of the peninsula against the Symon Garrison in Mytila. This was the first time that most of the Reykverfi Clans and families had united against a threat, and it would be Ulyas dream to continue this unity in the form of a state. A massive battle followed of epic proportions. Blood was spilled on both sides, but in the end, Ulya and the 7 other great warriors, known as hero’s, and their armies seized the day and captured the town. The inhabitants of the town were all massacred under the pretense of being ‘corrupted’, after consulting the Oracle of the Blue Ice, and the settlement, now a proper town, was wiped clean, and Ulyas tribe, as compensation from the other tribes, was allowed to move in and make the settlement their home. After hundreds of years, the people of Ulya bore many sons and daughters, and spread, utilizing many Symon books and knowledge left over to their advantage as they are one of the strongest Tribes of the 4 which inhabit the peninsula, and with their devotion to the great Blood God, they will achieve this goal at all costs. Nation Culture: The Reykverfi are the product of thousands of years of harsh cold winter environments. As such they are pale skinned humanoid, with hair ranging from Blonde to Ginger in the Essne tribe, and most having blue eyes. The men are often adorned with light blue ink depicting family pedigrees, family legends, or religious inscriptions. Their hair is worn long and loose in the women, however is binded upon marriage. In men, the hair is worn long, but binded until they begin growing facial hair. Once they grow facial hair they wear their hair loose, to represent the freedom granted by adulthood. The hair can only be cut ,by a priest ,on specific religious occasions. The Reykverfi dedicate themselves to fur trapping, whale hunting, and growing grains in small personal farms(mainly barley,). The latter are used as currency amongst the tribes, and as a result of the abundant poor soil they have a heavy meat based diet. Reykverfi families often live in units of 5+, with one man, 1-2 wives, and 2+ children. Most also own a dog, which is believed to be the manifestation of their principal God, Utar. The Dog is prohibited to be killed, and those who find dead canines are believed to have brought bad luck upon their entire family. Tapestry weaving is an intirical part of Norman Culture, as those Tapestries are the Books if the nations and illustrate ancient clan feuds, epic battles, and other times pedigrees, laws, and taxes. Human Or Humagi (Describe Humagi): Humagi Reykverfis from the outside look like any normal Human, however as a result of thousands of years of small Magical manifestations and the work of early tribal shamans, they have gained a high level of tolerance towards frigid temperatures and its not uncommon to see Reykverfi people walking around in snow shirtless or lightly dressed. Nation Government System: Feudal, The Duke is elected amongst 5-6 Aristocratic houses, the election is carried out by low ranking nobility, and succession most of the time follows hereditary lines as a result of corruption and under the counter agreements and arrangements. Economy:4 The Dukedom has decent trade, as the various settlements have become the trade markets of the entire peninsula, and it is where all can come to trade their goods. The main trade goods are as follows : Meats (of various types/quality), Furs (of various types/quality), Foods, Weapons, and Religious trinkets Education:1 Reykverfi’s lack any serious academic education and many do not know how to read or write at all. Only the shamans and priests know how to read and write, as well as select Government officials. The only knowledge that your average Reykverfi knows is of the environment and the activities he does on the day to day, such as hunting, or sailing. Size (include rough area on map):5 https://imgur.com/a/Mvg2Isk Military:6 Ulyadar soldiers are, in times of war, recruited by the populace. When raised up by feudal lords, they are often times simply covered in whale hide, which is better suited to the impacts of arrows and blows of blades. The Palace guard are the only ones financed with armor and proper weapons and training, and they are often times decorated by goods from their home lands. The shared characteristics of the palace guard is their iron helmet, which is egg shaped with a slot for their faces. Ulyadar Archers are very much well known, as archery is something all boys learn how to do from a young age. Ulyadar bows are very long, measuring, on average, up to 4 feet in height. These bows allows the arrow to travel faster, quicker, and hit much longer distances then normal bows found throughout the continent, which is not only suitable for hunting for jittery small furry animals, but for piercing through the hide and leather armour of their foes. Palace guards of the Duke of Ulyadar The Ulyadar navy is the largest of the various tribes of the Peninsula, as most of the Ulydarians engage in whale hunting activities throughout the Frozen Gulf, where the majestic creatures thrive as a result of the cool water present. As a result the ships have been tailored to chase after pods of whales, utilizing both oar and sails for added speed. They can also be used to traverse through cold rivers, and are very multipurpose full. 2-Army (1000 Light Infantry, 1000 Light Archers, 4000 Medium Infantry, 4000 Medium Archers) 4-Navy (3 Galley 3 Cog Mysticism:4 As a result of the years of warfare caused by the Blood Days, the people of the land began to flock to the Blood God for his tidings of victory against Symon invaders. Straying from an old outdated Pantheon, the Blood God has found a loyal base within the people of Ulyadar whose militaristic way of life rely on the tenants of the Blood God. Shamans are present in every clan, however regarded by many as the most powerfull shaman in all the lands, the mysterious and illusive Tancred belongs in the court of the Duke of Ulyadar, Arvid. It has a nearly 20x08 feet with a large deck to hold hundreds of soldiers and siege equipment if needed, and below there holds 50 oars on each side along with a square shaped sail. These ships were designed to spend months chasing after mythical ocean creatures, most of the time over sized whales but over time of skirmishes evolved into a flexible war machine. Newspapers in New Orleans and Vicksburg include messages of good luck, and prayers for the soldiers Several counties in Southern Louisiana have instituted French language teachings to spread their heritage and culture. Teachers and French Cajuns teach the native Louisiana Dialect of French Creole to those students who attend schools in the counties, and universities. A national university is opened in the city of Oxford, Mississippi, to serve as an institute of higher education for the people of the South to learn advance maths, sciences, and literature. The university is only opened for white people, and mainly aristocratic land owners attend it in its first few classes of alumni. Arkansas, and Texas are given offers to join the Southern Union. Semmes, in a statement to the two states, declares. “Us Southern nations must band together, we must always band together as one, or else we will be subject to the dangers that are riddled throughout the north. United we stand, and undoubtedly divided we fall.”
  9. LA REPUBBLICA D’ITALIA Salvini and his core, including Conte, and Berscolini were seated in inside the glamorous cathedral in the Vatican. They 3 of them, accompanied by a wide range of assistants, lesser Italian Politicians, and governors of the various provinces among others who worked in the inner machinations of the Italian Bureaucracy. Today, was a holiday. It was Easter, arguably the most important holiday in Christendom. It was a day off to go to church and have a meal for your average Italian, but to Salvini and the politicians, it was a day of profound thought, prayer, and reconciliation in Christ. As Pope John XXVI, previously known as Marc Oulet of Quebec, administered the lengthy mass performed on this special day, Salvini was admiring the inner workings of the hearth of Catholicsm, the St. Peters Cathedral. His eyes glided from masterpiece to masterpiece, saint to saint, from crosses to miracles. In his late age, Salvini has sat on this very seat for years, however his aged mind was truly just now grasping the scope of such works of art, of such profound artifacts, that his people had produced in the name of their God, of our God. As the Vicar of Christ ended the services with a blessing over the congregation of Rome, and after performing the duties bestowed upon the life of a high ranking politician which included greeting the Pope, being swarmed by journalists on his way out of the cathedral, and shaking hands with the other politicians leaving the service, he requested the driver of his limousine to drive him back to the Quinural Palace, to spend the rest of the Holy Day in repose. In reality, he spent the rest of his day planning and reviewing his address to Parliament in 3 days, of which he had to outline his plan for the state, and report how his previous metas have been fulfilled. It was routine for him after almost 30 years in Italian Politics, however his nerves still flared up everytime he had to make decisions on the behalf of his beloved citizens. Your Discord’s name: Fernandez#4727 Your Nation: The Republic of Italy Short background of nation: Italy, lead by its populist government headed by Salvini in the year 2020, was one of the First Nations to leave the EU after France and Germany. The Italians have been fighting against the EU’s laws and rules throughout much of the populist governments rule, and when they exited the union, they were followed by many other Eastern European nations. At the withdrawal of Italy from the European Union, Conte would rule only in name, as the real decisions were taken by Salvini, who would become the face of Italian Politics following his election into President of the Republic. In his rule, he has, following support from the parties in his coalition, strengthened the borders of Italy, restored the 1929 Lateran Treaty as well as granted extra powers to the Church in education, and reintroduced the Lira as the Italian Currency. Salvini and his populist government now stand as the premier power in the Mediterranean, and the Italian State will undoubtedly prosper under his mandate. 13. The Ottoman Empire (Year long post) -With the Government recognizing the inevibility of war once more in Europe, the government seeks to take actions to protect the Imperial Capitol and Administrative center of the Empire. The Ottoman High Command, observing the struggle their German Allies undertook attempting to take the fortress-city of Verdun, seek to replicate such an environment in the Fortress-City of Edirne. The cities medieval fortifications and bastions are expanded upon, and reinforcement and the construction of massive fortresses and bastions commence around the city of Edirne. The city will serve as the gate way into Turkish Thrace and Constantinople, and therefore the gateway of the Empire. -The Emperor, having reportedly been completely enthralled in the study of Architecture, personally takes it under his wing to beautify Constantinople. In his weekly address to Constantinoples citizens, he has outlined a plan for the beautification of Constnatinople. Neighborhood after neighborhood, workers come through and renovated and remodeled public buildings to incorporate elements of artistic beauty into it. In the Asian side of Constantinople, which is often times neglected and ugly in terms of buildings, new neighborhoods and public buildings spring up, but built in a syncretic Islamic style, incoporating arches, intricate masonry depicting geometric shapes, and the inclusion of many fountains and nature into the buildings. A list of notable buildings are compiled to be built to an exceptionally high level of expertise and magnificence: -Beylerbeyi Palace(Expanded massively)’ -Kucuksu Palace(Expanded Massively) -Beylerbeyi Mosque(New, Massive) -Imperial Library. -Investments and development of the oil industry in the Mesopotamian Region under the eye of both the government and al Assad continues. Oil production per barrel increases almost by the daily has dozens of wells are added to the increasing oil drilling network. Government funds continue to arrive into the pocket of Al Assad, which in turn uses it to fund his expansions of the growing oil network in Iraq. -A division of volunteers are rounded up from the Army and begin separate training for a Military expedition in the name of the Empire and the Caliph. These are experienced men from the Great War and form the core of the Imperial Army. -Ottoman observers and generals, learning of massive machines of iron being used in the frontlines in both the French Civil war and the Great War, seeks create such technology for the use in the army. The scientists and engineers gather together and attempt to replicate such technology to maintain and keep up with modern, industrial methods of war and combat. This piece of weaponry is designed in Palestine, where the growing fire arms industry can fuel such a project. -The Caliph signs the Naval expansion act into law, which orders the research of the nations first domestic modern navy ship. Ottoman Scientist and Engineers from across the nation put their heads and minds together to create plans for a new class of destroyers. Meanwhile this is occurring, the bill also authorizes naval shipyards to prepare and expand to build several large and modern naval ships to be used in the Ottoman Navy. -The crown prince of the Ottoman Empire announces a marriage with Princess Fatima of the Hashemite royal family, which is a powerful Arab Oligarchal clan tracing their lineage directly to Muhammad. It is hoped that with this marriage, the Caliphate can become popular with the Arab population of the Empire, and find themselves much more loyal subjects. -Pan-Islamic propaganda is secretly spread into Persia, through isolated scouts and spies armed with posters who go around plastering messages of Pan Islamic or Ottomanism. It is done so that the Caliph can gain power and a international fan base in the close neighbor of Persia. -The Caliph of Islam speaks, in many of his discourses and speeches the importance of maintaining loyalty and brotherhood among members of the same faith. He also preaches that it is important for the Ummah to stay united, in order to be stronger together then divided. These themes are often times reassuring throughout his addresses, and they are supplemented through messages in business, and in news papers. -The Ottoman Empire officially condemns the United Kingdoms of Greater Austria to actively conspiring against the establishment of peace and prosperity by attempt to wage war against neutral and sovereign nations, in this case the nation of Romania. -The Government seeks to research the effectiveness of massive artillery guns, mounted on rails. The government orders a 18 inch Artillery Gun from the factories of Palestine for an exhibition of its abilities and prowess against a core of Ottoman military officers and officials. -Aide in the form of weapons, food, blankets and Qurans are sent to certain Indonesian Islamic Sects after several Grand Muftis pleaded for the help of their Caliph. This aide often arrives in secret under flags of a different country, through Japan, or through smuggling in hidden spots on his sheep..
  14. CONFEDERACY OF SOUTHERN STATES Snow fell upon the vivid green grass, the spacious meadow in front of the protruding fort being a stained white canvas with spots of an earthy green and brown scattered throughout. The fortress stood tall and supreme, however its sworn defenders stood weak and frail, many recognizing and making dark assumptions regarding their fate. The men under the orders of the official in command are to be ready at all times. Men peer over the walls to the unknown, where they are constantly canvassing for their enemy. The darkness of night is not the defenders advantage, thought Colonel John B Magnolia, the last Federalist leader of the fortress. These men, these passionate men who find themselves fighting-and giving their lives for a lost cause witnessed the atrocities committed to their compatriots across the sound. Death, even after surrender, was the sentence. To many, this empowered them, gave rise to a baptismal flame inside their souls to protect this bastion of unity and truth against the hordes of southern traitors and liars. To others, the simple thought of their fate spawned dark thoughts in their heads, of premeditated defeat and death. Whatever their fate, it would be decided by the bloody sword. On the other side of the sea wall lay a completely different realm, with a completely different nation with a completely different mentality. Thousands of soldiers lay in the dark, on their backs in the thicket to avoid detection by the Unionists in their fort. They are fighting for their state, for their Southern values and traditions. A bearded ginger peered over the wall, eying the brick defenses. He returned to his previous position, resting his back against the wall. Rifle in hand, he gently placed a kiss on its barrel. “May yer shot forever be troo” he said quietly. He eyed the black outlines of the artillery several hundred yards away, the deep black abyss of their barrels pointing to the fort. He looked towards his left, and he could make out the jolly uniform of the famous Louisiana Tigers, many of them sleeping on the soft swamp grass. He gazed across marshland and placid bayou waters, across protruding cypress butts and half submerged ferns to the white tent of the General, which had a dim light casting upon the tarp. He looked back up to the snowy sky, up to the moon. He could see it, a full moon radiating the dark night sky. Its yellow tinge and gray stains creating a beautiful image for the world to see. The soldier thought to himself, What would the moon think of what we were doing here? Would it sanction the fight in the name of honour, and glory to our state? Or would it rebuke us, cursing us for fighting such petty squabbles. A dark cloud quickly moved in front of its bright radiance, and the soldiers thoughts were interrupted by the music of a large artillery barrage. The battle had begun. Away from the gruesome events occuring in the bayou there was a different type of battle occuring. At Vicksburg, the capitol of the newly established confederacy, a fierce but bloodless battle of the words was raging on between fellow countrymen. “We must wage war against the unhonourable traitors! The legislature of the former Mississippi voted, and if they do not accept the result, then we must force them too!” Stated Jonathan B Petteridge, the elected representative of Gulfport. “We must! We must help our countrymen across the river regain lands which rightfully belong to the union! At all costs!” championed New Orleans native Robin Robichaud, leader of the Standard Cotton Company. Judah P Benjamin, a man with a resounding reputation throughout the south, spoke calmly, opposite to the rambunctious and vocal southerners. “Gentlemen, blood is not needed in this feud. This uprising can be put down with logic, and thought, something which is vacant in the head of their leader Davis. That land, as many of you know it, is bad land, i once heard someone say that grass grows rough in that soil. Let me reach out to our brothers in the Alabama, along the Mississippi, and Tennessee. They'll starve before they can create a nation of their own.” The State Capitol imploded with arguments, applauses, and cat callers. “Order! Silence!” called repeatedly the President of the union, Thomas Semes. “We shall have an honourable debate here, and at the end there shall be a vote, as we have inscribed in the Charter. The floor belongs to Franklin Culpeper.” A old man rose slowly up, using several adjacent delegates as well as his strong oak cane to rise to his aged feet. “I believe what Mr. Benjamin speaks has merit! Why rush to use a sword to complete a task a pen can do better!” “CHARLES CLARK” yelled a voice that was quickly drowned by the congress. “I agree with the respectable Robichaud! If we stay idle, then we may risk losing 10 times the men as they prepare for their impending doom!” The deep rings of a large clock resonated throughout the hall. “Finish up, Clark.” “We must fight! We must send a message written in blood to all those who go against the south! WE MUST KILL THE BLUE DRESSED SCUM!” The hall’s voices quieted down as the President of the Union rose from his seat at the head of the hall. “This Honourable House will now vote on Act 00.00.4C, those in favour please raise your hand high and say Aye.” A large chorus of Ayes, including several yells from the back of the court. The tallyman, dressed in a wood brown colour, scurried through the pews quickly counting the protruding hands. “Those in favour please lower your hands. Those against please raise your hands and call Nay.” A wave of hands rose in the air, and the tallyman once again began his job. A large whisper overtook the hall, as the tallymans eyes drifted up to the stage and found that the President's hand was raised as well, which the tallyman promptly recorded. All eyes shifted from the President to the tallyman, as he went from row to row, counting each hand raised in the air. When he reached the back of the hall, he walked briskly to the front of the delegation, and handed a cream folded paper to the President. The delegates were silent as each man was anxiously awaited the verdict. Each man tracked Semmes fingers as he unraveled the paper, and paused for a moment looking at the results. He then redirected his gaze to the crowd and he calmly stated, “The vote has been tallied. 64 Ayes, 59 Nays, 6 abstainmentss. The act does pass.” The court goes wild after the decision is made, and many make the long trip down to the front pew, where they rejoice with the ecstatic Robichaud, the self proclaimed leader of the faction of the Pro-War delegates. War, it seems, while it has already begun and ended to the west of the Mississippi, will blaze to its east and the state begins to rally its forces to put down the traitorous rebels who have rejected the will of their people. -A new government is formed with the union of the two former nations. It is much similar to the prior government of Louisiana and the disintegrated United States, in a republican form with a congress and a president, however majority power is delegated to the Congress, and the President, while being the executive figure of the Confederacy, has decreased power compared to its historical counterpart in Washington. “Power to the little people” becomes championed by Semmes, the father of the charter of the Confederacy. -The capital of the confederacy is chosen to be Vicksburg, chosen because of its accessibility to both states, and because of its position on the Mississippi. Work begins on developing the Louisiana side of the Vicksburg, as the government encourages settlement on the western side to expand the capitol. Businesses and administrators begin building their stores and buildings across the Mississippi as the city is encouraged to grow with the migration of the Government. -The Forts of Jackson and St. Phillip, now under the flag of the Confederacy, begin repairs and remodelations to achieve their former glory. Several river batteries are commissioned to be added, 2 on the side of St. Phillip, and 3 in the Fortress Complex of St. Jackson. All of these batteries are armed with state of the art weapons imported from Europe, including 7-8 inch rifled artillery pieces, capable of demolishing ships of the lines and other wooden ships. Each battery contains 4 of these massive guns, under an assortment of mounts. -The State calls for the recruitment of 60 thousand men to put down the rebellion. Three divisions of 20,000 will be assigned to the following Major Generals of the Confederacy: PGT. Bureagaurd, Earl Van Dorn, and. Bureagaurd, for his maneuvers and valiance displayed at the sieges of Fort Jackson and Fort St. Phillip, is named General of the Army of the Mississippi, as it has been called. The various generals are given leeway to pick and choose their Brigadier Generals as they choose to maximise coherence and command efficiency. The Secretary of War relays to the Major General that they will have their own Armies at the end of this conflict. -After a long debate in the legislature, and followed by a close vote, the nation has decided to adopt the British Pound as it currency. Several main driving factors fueling this decision is the power that it holds, its renowned stability, and the fact that it eases trade with one of the largest markets in Louisiana, Great Britain and therefore most of Europe. The President of the Confederacy drafts a formal letter to the British Sovereign, relaying their wishes to the British Government. The Spanish Dollar was heavily advocated for in the legislature, as well as the Northern Dollar by several individuals with personal trade interests in the companies of the North, however the pound has won the day. -The New Orleans government opens up the Mississippi river exit into the Gulf for commercial ships from nations with an agreement with the Confederacy. All other nations allow ships through, however with a massive tax. Ships are ordered to stop at New Orleans on their way through, and cotton begins to be exported once more from plantations on the Mississippi to Textile factories and farms in the North, and in Britain, where a everly increasing market for cotton is found. -With the massive loss of life of the Louisiana Tigers, the division begins to scout out able bodied, experienced, brave veterans from the infantry to replace the lives lost. Being a part of this famed brigade brings honour to a person's family and is thought to be a peak in a infantryman's military career, often serving as a pipeline into the officer core. The best infantrymen make it into the Tigers, whom continue intense drilling and trainings to maintain their high level of skill and discipline. -A military academy is made in the city of New Orleans, called officially the Military Academy of the Confederacy of Southern States, but among the military elite and alumni, it is called South Point. This academy, while it was intended to be a place for infantrymen to learn to lead men and divisions into the horror of battle, quickly specialises in cavalry tactics and training under the administration of Major General Earl van Dorn. “I have capitalised on the natural southern talent-horsemanship.” He writes in his personal diary. Many Southerners grew up on horseback and were very skilled with them, providing a exceptional opportunity to create a fearsome cavalry corps. -The old Federal mint of New Orleans is seized by the government, and to their surprise, they encounter thousands upon thousands of Gold and silver coins, almost half a million dollars in value. The coins however, were obsolete under the dissolution of the Union, and were useless now. Therefore the government begins the task of slowly melting down the gold and silver into bullion, which is kept in a discrete highly guarded military establishment known to only high members of the national government. -A Negro labour corps is established for the Army. This is a corps of government owned slaves which are forced to do menial tasks in war time. Mainly dig trenches, carry the baggage, prepare defenses. The labour corps follows the main army around, and are often entrusted to the responsibility of the corps or divisional commander. The purpose of this is to maximise the number of white, Anglo-Saxon able bodied soldiers as possible for use in the preservation of the Nation. -Judah P Benjamin, a prominent figure of the Confederacy, is sent to Europe to negotiate a variety of deals with a variety of European Governments and complete a list of tasks in the name of the Confederacy. He is named Ambassador, and is sent to London as his first destination. -With the Mississippi open, the slave market begins to flourish. Blacks from the Carribean instead of African natives are used as merchandise however. Blacks often times already live in slavery or in extreme poverty in many areas around the carribean, and slavers preach of freedom, and wealth to be found in America. These men are then impressed into slavery, never to return to their homeland again. Instead these men are shipped up the Mississippi to other Southern Slave states such as Arkansas, Tennessee, and Kentucky. -Letters are sent to Alabama, and Tennessee requesting them to close all markets to the rebel state of ‘Northern Mississippi.’
  15. The Republic of Louisiana In the Baton Rouge capitol March 19th, 1859 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- In the capitol, there was a meeting of the aristocratic elite of the nation's capital. The hall was dimly light by the crackling fireplace, and several black men dressed in fine European fashion were running to and fro, carrying elegant silver trays filled with engraved silver and gold goblets, southern culinary masterpieces, and small appetizers. In the background, a small symphony was playing a jolly tune over a small drone of southerners conversing over topics such as the seasonal yield, slave stories, and the delivering the latest Bayou gossip. President Semmes, was clearly demarcated from the group, sporting a red-white-and blue sash with a fleur de lis in the center, showcasing his authority in a manner that illustrates the new nations past history. The governor had convened this meeting for reasons which the guests were not aware of. The group assembled at this gathering was very homogeneous in terms of occupation and social status. The majority of the attendees were landowning, slave owning, agricultural giants of the nation. A small minority of this group were industrialists, hailing from bustling New Orleans. For a while, these men, whom often times rarely ever came into direct contact with each other, were conversing and acting in common interests, as fellow countrymen. This was something that Semmes noticed since the first guests had ever arrived at the meaning, and it was something that made Semmes ecstatic. After roughly an hour of placid conversation and ice breaking, Semmes ordered the Black symphony to put down their instruments, and the President of the Republic took his place on their stage. He spoke with a long, elongated drawl, and was a slow but impactful speaker. He held a quarter filled glass of orange poison in his right hand, and he commenced his discourse while pacing across the stage. All of the eyes of the room, from black slave to white slave owner, were glued onto him, listening intently to his words. “Gentlemen, first and foremost I’d like to thank all of yall for making the journey here on this night. I know travelling for many of you in this time of year can be bad for the harvest however it was very much necessary. You men who I have convened at this gathering, are no doubt the core of this great nation. You men gathered here today own the key to the most important element to our nation success or failure in the future, and that gentlemen is our cotton. You men are the Kings of Cotton, and he who has the Cotton has the power. However, cotton is only good when there's gentlemen up north to buy cotton. This used to not be a problem when the South was united, but now that it is divided, we face ourselves with threats of daily price undercuts and and economic horse race among the cotton giants of our southern bretheren. To combat this, there is only one way. Through unity in commerce, our dreams can be accomplished through a cotton monopoly, the Standard Cotton Company. I have entrusted the reigns of the Standard Cotton Company to the Esteemed Robin Robichaud, an educated man who has studied in the esteemed universities of the North, however is a Southern man through and through. He will establish a system of distribution and manufacturing, however he cannot do such a thing without any merchandise, which is where yall men come in to play. The Esteemed Robichaud will be meeting with each of you personally to evaluate your decisions regarding your support of our decisions. I hope that when you men make your decisions, you keep in mind the prosperity of your home, Louisiana. Thank you, and Long Live Louisiana. And Long live the South” The crowd would repeat the popular final three words, and the gathering resumed with the descending President ordering the symphony to return to playing an upbeat jig. Meanwhile, the Standard Cotton Company was emerging from the womb. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- SUMMARY ON SPRING ACTIONS OF THE LOUISIANA SENATE ACT I The rights of Blacks are revoked nationwide, and are declared property in the constitution of the State of Louisiana. The Negro population shall have no representation in government, and the Louisiana Code of Law does not apply to the Negro population no more. The Negro population of Louisiana will fall under the jurisdiction of the Louisiana Black Codes. Any free black sold into enslavement will become property of the government, where they will be then be sold into the slave market whether it be domestically or up the Mississippi or Atlantic ACT II The Louisiana government begins to establish itself throughout the state. Local government offices, police departments, taxation, municipalities are demarcated, and a code of law are all implemented throughout the state with the goal to create a efficient, smooth running nation. ACT III The Mississippi state government is approached about a possible governmental union between the two nations. Semmes, in a letter to the Mississippi President, expresses both countries long standing history spanning centuries, and common culture prevalent in the two brother nations. The government also promises the Mississippi nation that should they enter in a union, Mississippi cotton will have free passage through New Orleans to be exported to other destinations, and Mississippi planters will grow rich as a result. Semmes, in the letter, preaches Southern unity and nationalism. ACT IV The Republic of Louisiana orders a census on the available warships stationed in the port of New Orleans and throughout ports on the Mississippi. ACT V The port of New Orleans is closed to governments without an explicit government contract. Governments along the Mississippi are encouraged to sign deals with the new nation. Deals are more restricted on Northern nations then they are on friendly southern nations. ACT VI The Louisiana government enacts plans to revive the Slave trade once more. Slave traders scour for slaves throughout the caribbean, especially in Hispaniola and Cuba, where sizeable Negro populations are found. These slaves are shipped back into New Orleans in chains, and are kept separated from the native slave populations. Slaves who arrive at the port city commonly follow 3 routes: Up the Mississippi, where they are sold to slave states reaping the fertile soil, along the gulf to slave powerhouses such as Mississippi or Alabama, or through Florida straits to Atlantic nations such as Georgia, the Carolinas, or Virginia. ACT VII The Thugs of Baton Rouge are are transformed into proper militiamen after several weeks of basic training, and many of the men who were not outfitted with a rifle or musket will be provided one by the government, in exchange for their service. The Government orders the Thugs of Baton Rouge, lead by the Louisiana Tigers division and General Beauregard, to seize the Federalist forts blockading the Mississippi. The government expresses to punish the Federalists by death.
  16. Application Discord Name; You have it Desired State; The Republic of Louisiana History of said State’s history, leadership, and government; Louisiana was a slave state and southern throughout and through. The state was predominantly agricultural, and the entire state economy relied on slave labor to function and to run the many farms planted on the rich fertile soil. Naturally, as a result of these phenomenons, the state Louisiana had overwhelmingly voted for Southern candidate Breckenridge. And naturally once more, when Lincoln, a man who contradicted nearly all views and philosophies which the average white Southerner held dear was elected to office the entire state was in flames. It could not stand, and neither could the Union. Following the deep southern slave states, and the rest of the United States, a declaration of secession was formulated, and secession was announced in the capitol of Baton Rogue. This was met with songs of joy in most of Louisiana, from the Bayou to the Gulf coast, except in arguably the most important place of all, New Orleans. New Orleans had received an influx of North men drawn to the prosperous port city, and was one of the largest cities in all of America. New Orleans, contrasting from the rest of Louisiana, had remained Unionist as a result of this. The city of New Orleans itself succeeded from the state of Louisiana, and declared its alliegiance to the Union, even going so far as to elect a northern governor. They had seemingly been forming barricades and laying various ragtag defenses along the roads into the city. To the state government, the city of New Orleans had been preparing for battle. And judging by the events unfolding in Baton Rogue, they were going to receive one. In Baton Rogue, a mob had been brewing. A mob that was furious that New Orleans, rightful Southern lands in their eyes, had been infiltrated by the Northern enemy, and separated from its rightful owners. They were determined to retake the city. After a couple months of slowly drawing men in from the country side, the mob had swelled to up to 10,000 irregulars, armed with their own rifles, and some men even armed with simple swords, however these limitations was not going to slow down the mob. All these men had it engrained in their heads that their state, their home, will not lay weak and divided because of foreigners. And so, with the state government supporting, The Thugs of Baton Rogue, with the famous Louisiana Tigers, marched onward to New Orleans. The march was a long one, but one that would go down in folk legend. Along the way it has become song that the waters of the Mississippi vibrated with the chants of the Thugs on their way to save the city of New Orleans from the sin of the Northerners. After a month of marching, they reached the outskirts of New Orleans, and gained thousands of Southern Irregulars from the city itself. Now the thugs had swelled up to 25,000 unorganized irregulars, made up of men, slaves forced to fight by their owners, and sometimes even young boys. The Mob, on a Sunday that will forever be remembered in Louisiana history as Bloody Sunday began its attack. The city of New Orleans was under siege, and while they had built defenses, the Thugs of Baton Rogue overpowered the defenders by too large of a margin. The defenders of the city, had been made up of roughly an even split of volunteers and the garrison from nearby forts gaurding the mouth of the Mississippi. The city held for one day and one night, before being overcome by the mob, and chaos ensued. The cities black population was either raped, killed, or forced back into slavery. All of the cities defenders that they could find were slaughtered, and the Governor was lychned in a humiliating ceremony. After the blood ended, the Mob began to break into Northern businesses, before order was established by the commander of the Louisiana Tigers, a renowned corps of which most were from New Orleans. Colonel Wheat quickly assumed control of New Orleans, and prevented widespread pillaging and looting from continuing, however conceded to the Thugs the black population. Semmes, the President of Louisiana, wrote the following after news arrived of the events that transpired on Bloody Sunday had arrived on his desk; “Had it not been for the actions of Colonel Wheat, the Thugs would have ruined New Orleans as Odoacer did to Rome.” The State government quickly established control over the city and the state shortly after, formulating a basic state constitution that outlines how the Government of Louisiana should function. The Constitution had been written by the elite of the state, which had come to be wealthy white land and slave owners, the group which formed the economic high class of the Deep South, and which had been responsible for the creation of many of the great southern slave states, including beautiful Louisiana. Nominal Leader/President/Governor/etc.; Thomas Jenkins Semmes Do you want a Custom Character? If so what’s their name and background? His father came from a settled Cajun family, and his mother was a Southern Baptist. He has just completed several years of learning from prestigious American schools, and is poised to become a influential business man in Lousiana.

  18. Duchy of Koper History The History of the isle of Koper, or Morea, which is the name the natives have called it for generations, is one not shrouded in darkness. In a different age and time, Koperians dominated the Sea of Balaton and goods arrived in port from even the farthest regions of Klagenfurt. The Crunuluggia de Morea, the most famous literary work in Morea, recants the History of the Moreans. According to the Crunuluggia de Morea, or Chronicle of Morea, written by ancient scholars, has it recorded that thousands of years ago there existed 7 tribes on the island. The Tivorpi lived in the east and were fishermen people, dedicating themselves to reaping the wealths of the seas and living in peace. Their King was a man simple man, however stupid and engaged in savageness and enthralled with brutish customs. The Tivorpi were constantly subjugated to pillaging and raping by the powerful Herari Mountain men, whom would descend from the peaks in the winter when their food stores were depleted and ravage the lands, leaving destruction in their path. The Herari were born and bred warriors, their long pointed sticks which they called the Dory, being their weapon of choice. The Tivorpi were the first victim of the Herari, and formed the bulk of their ranks, which is why the scholars stressed their importance. Another tribe, called the Moreans, lived in together, in clay houses built from the ground, which was different from the common custom of tents and wooden houses which was the status quo of the region. These were sea people, and their boats are legendary for being indestructible. Another tribe, who thought of themselves as cousins of the Moreans, lived in a fortified city, and called themselves the Banelos. The Banelos were master builders, and they used a stone which the Herari called, the ‘Devil rock’. The rest of the tribes accounts were either burned by the Herari, or were conquered by them. In fact, by a couple hundreds years time, the entire island was subjugated by the Herari, except the Moreans and the Banelos, whom had become closely related in terms of culture and traditions. In the year when the Morean chief died, the Herari attacked the Morean settlements, and famously, a local Goddess appeared to the Banelos, and warned them of the impending Herari attack, and the Banelo-Moreans were able to heroically transport the majority of the Moreans to Banea, the famous city of the Baneleans. To transport the Moreans, the Baleleans used hastily constructed Morean ships built by hands of the Baneans. During the Escape of the Moreans, a great battle took place as 1000 Banelo-Moreans famously Held back an entire Herari horde as most of the Morean families were departing from the beaches. These 1000 men are said to have fought with such bravery and pride that they have become instilled in Morean culture, being forever known as the ‘Heroes of Morea.’ When the Moreans arrived at Banea, they were much more numerous than the Baneleans, however, they themselves assimilated into the culture of the Baneleans, adopting their customs and traditions, as well as their architecture and famous artistic methods. The City of Banea, as it grew to be known, remained a Citadel that the Herari could never seize, despite controlling the entire island. Banea, in this time period, grew in wealth as it began trading with lands across the straits, gaining a vast reputation in the Herari for having an abundance in ‘gems, words, and stone.’ as one Herari put it. For hundreds of years, the eternal dream of all Herari had been to take Banea. Tens of times the Herari have tried to breach the thick walls of Banea, but none of them succeeded. The Morean had become too good of builders, and despite almost constantly having an Army posted outside the Iron gates of Banea, the Herari could not enter. Morean Archers became known among the Herari as being able to shoot a acorn from a league away. However, this tension did not remain for long, and the Decades long standoff culminated in a massive siege carried out by almost 10,000 Herari against only 1000 Moreans inside Banea. For a month, the siege endured, the Herari using everything in their power to besiege the walls. They attempted to scale the walls, but they were repulsed. They attempted to burn the town, but stone does not burn. The siege was finally broken when the Morean forces inside the walls split up, with half staying inside the walls defending the city, and half mounting on their famous ships and sailing a couple hundred leagues up coast, before disembarking and marching to attack the Herari from the rear of their men, and the plan, formulated by the legendary King Vestru Eradi, was a stunning success. The Herari, being accustomed to centuries of being on the upper hand of battles, were pressed into a pinch, and were routed. Here and for years after this, the Butchering of the Herari occured, where 500 Moreans slaughtered roughly 20,000 Herari from across the Island were mercilessly killed, in a series of campaigns initiated by the Moreans to retake the Island. And in less than 20 years, under the Great Vestru Eradi, the entire island was now under Morean dominion. This period is called the Golden Age of Morea. As Moreans colonised the rest of the island, the people whom had for centuries lived under Herari rule were subjugated and assimilated into Morean society as Morean colonists intermarried with Heraris. During this period, Moreans spread their traditions throughout the island. Centuries and age old bridges, walls, roads, and government buildings all of which were built by the Eradi dynasty still remain today, hundreds and hundreds of years after the fall of the Eradi. The Port of Banea, which had become a massive trading center, was always full with hundreds of Morean ships, called a yatte. Yattes dominated the Sea of Balaton at one point, even colonising some areas of the coast adjacent to the island, which is why ruins can be found in the distinct Morean architectural style. The Golden Age of the Eradi fell soon after, and the Island of Morea, despite its vast wealth, again retreated into the darkness as sickness, famine, and civil disputes plagued the islands for a hundred years, before the Styrians, whom had assumed control of the mainlands, invaded Morea, and through stiff resistance, assumed control of the Island. The Styrians brought superior siege technology, such as catapults, rams, and trebuchets, technologies which the Moreans never encountered before, and technology which Morean Stone was not indestructible to, as it had been to the Herari eons before. Still however, the Styrians experienced trouble subjugating the island. A massive Naval Battle took place, where the Styrian fleet destroyed the entire Morean fleet assembled, the first time in history where all the local rulers united and all contributed their fleet. This defeat rendered Yattes obsolete for warfare by the eyes of the Morean aristocracy, and were gradually reduced to a trade vessel in the following ages. Once the Moreans lost control of the seas, the Island fell soon after. The Avesgraff family lead the conquest of the island, and after they defeated the Moreans, they were crowned Dukes of Koper, which was the new name given to the island by the Styrians. The Avesgraff family, while they introduced a massive cultural wave of Styrian customs into the island, were influenced heavily by Morean customs aswell, as their surname was changed to the more Morean sounding Amaveza after the benevolence and tolerance that many of their rulers had displayed towards the Moreans, something which had earned the Amaveza family much love and respect amongst Moreans. As a result of this, the Amaveza family has earned some chastisement from mainland Ducal Families for reputadley, ‘forgetting their blood’. The Amaveza family continued the long standing Morean architectural traditions, building large cathedrals and castles in a matter retaining both Styrian and Morean elements, forming a distinct Styro-Morean architectural style, which was integral to the conversion of Moreans to the faith and the assimilation of many Moreans into Styrian culture. This style remains overwhelmingly Morean however, with Styrian elements being more prevalent in the incorporation of circular towers and keeps. However it is much more prevalent in the interior design of large elegant buildings. Mosiacs, for example, a distinctly Morean tradition, now depict Styrian stories and cultures, a prime example of the fusion that has arisen between the two distinct cultures. Despite the tolerance of the Amaveza family, ages of Styrian rule has caused drastic changes in Morean culture. The Morean language, now has had heavy Styrian influence after ages of Styrian rule. A significant language divide has arisen as a result of the Styrians. In the urban cities such as Banea, Styrian is used commonly, however there has been a creole of sorts developing, and the Styrian Language is being mixed with the language of the native Moreans. In the countryside however, many isolated families speak a variation of Morean very similar to their ancestors. This phenomenon is seen more in the mountains and hills and in the underdeveloped east of the island. However, this variant has still had significant Styrian influence and is distinct from the language of the Ancient Moreans under the Eradi. Banea Banea was once a magnificent city, however, it has fallen into much decay. There are many ruins to be seen throughout the city, many old temples and palaces which the only evidence of their existence are a lone column or several blocks askew the ground, a reminiscent memory of a better time. There lies an overall yellowish tinge to the entire city,a testament to its ancient age, and the city is, most of the time, full of ships entering and leaving the harbor and traders selling their goods. The city itself has many canals that run through it, making small boats, or Yattes, a favourable method of transport across the city. The famous walls of Banea, which have fallen into mis management and have several wide gaps, encompass the entirety of the old city, which includes the port, the old city, and the markets. The walls are connected to the citadel, which are built into a elevated hilly plateau which dominates the skyline of Banea. The Citadel houses the Palace of the Dukes of Koper, and it has fallen only once since the times of Ancient Morea, and it is when the Morean Dukes surrendered to the Styrians to save Banea from destruction by the Stryrians. The palace itself is simply built on the exterior, however on the interior it encompasses natural aspects such as: natural light, water from fountains, and green spaces in its architecture. Several Styrian additions can be found however, such as the addition of several towers, and a moat, which is engrained in Styrian tradition. Inside the capitol, some key sights can be the Obelisk to Victory, which is a Ancient Morean pole commemorating their victory against the Herari. Several statues lay around the capitol, depicting elegantly the magnificence of the Eradi dynasty. Many of these statues however are in ruin, and are barely reminiscent of their original persona. Possibly the most recognizable landmark is the Cathedral of Banea, a massive church with several domes, the highest one being level with the ground of the Citadel. The outside of the Cathedral is adorned with hundreds of small statues and figures of important Morean, Styrian, and religious figures and symbols. The Cathedral was built in the Styro-Morean style, and inside, hundreds upon hundreds of religious Mosaics can be seen adorning the Dome of the Cathedral, displaying icons and venerations of the Faith. It is said that at 3 o clock, the entire Cathedral is lit up with light reflecting off the Mosaics. Half of the gold and gems from ancient Moreas coffers were used to adorn the churches altar and icons, some mosaics being made from pure gold and gems. DUKE HECTOR III OF AMAVEZA Hector the III is the current Duke of Amaveza. He is regarded by much as a poor Duke, but he is known for being the most conservative of the Amaveza Dukes when it comes to retaining Styrian customs and traditions. It has been said by Court Servants that Hector has not uttered once a word in Morean, and is always seen dressed like a Styrian, and acting as one. He is an incompetent military leader, and an incompetent ruler. Banea is seen by many, to be in the worst state it has been in years--except for the Port. Hector’s connections and ties to the mainland, as well as his knowledge in trade and economics has caused activity in the port to increase massively, however the revenue does not return back to the city or the isle, but to the palace and the pockets of the Royal Family. The Duke has taken to lucratively adorn the interior of the Citadel with luxurious ornaments and regalia. His wife, Elena hails from the capitol and was birthed to a high standing military family related to the king. The crown prince, Amadeo is often times seen at his family estate in the east with his own family, and does not share amicable relations with his father, whom Amadeo has reffered to as ‘tyrannical’. Amadeo has abused his isolation in the east to learn about traditional Morean customs, and has passed this trait on to his family, especially his wife who has grown much like Amadeo despite being from the mainland. There exists a rift in the family, between Hector, and Amadeo, whether to forget their Styrian Heritage or to replace it. Styrian or not, the Amaveza family is influential throughout the mainland.

  23. OTTOMAN EMPIRE The Great Bloody war, as a small Syrian Farmer had called it, had reached the Ottoman Empire. Young Muslim men were sent off to the army, being ordered to fight for the salvation of their country and their Muslim brothers and sisters being threatened by the powers of Britain, Bulgaria and France. At the outbreak, war had the connotation of defeat in the Ottoman Empire. Most of the wars that the Empire had fought in the 20th century had resulted in some form of territorial loss, but that was the least of their concerns for the Ottoman Administrators. With every section of land that is lost, the people lose hope, they lose their pride for the Eternal Empire. An Empire that had lasted for 900 years, that had ruled over the Arab world for over 500 years, was looking weak, and fractured. However, when the first news came in from the front lines, many people rejoiced. The soldiers were pushing forward, gaining land and territory. They were driving the British back, which for many across the Empire, gave them hope, that perhaps, the Ottoman Empire truly stands a chance of winning in a major war. One story that resonated through the mouths of Ottoman boys and girls was the story of a regiment of Janissary troops that valiantly broke through Bulgarian front lines and slaughtered 3 entire Bulgarian regiments by disguising themselves as Bulgarian Soldiers. Once they got to the secondary Bulgarian lines, it is said that the commander, the son of a wealthy Palestinian Merchant, fought until the only weapon he had on him was his helmet, and was allegedly shot 13 times, and before he fell, his last words were the iconic Islamic Chant, Allahu Akbar. However, the war was nowhere near from completion, and the Ottoman Army was in a poor shape to say the least. Soldiers were being sent with barely any training, and in some cases not even a functioning rifle. The Empire begins to purchase massive amounts of weapons to hopefully outfit most, if not the entire army. A new organizational structure is also implemented, created by a combination of military minds such as the various German Officers in the military, and some prominent pashas. All Ottoman soldiers that were called up will receive a gun and basic military training, for the Sultan commands them to do their duty. Actions -Ottoman Empire purchases massive amounts of weapons from the United States to outfit soldiers that are in need of a weapon. -The Empire pushes for training for all the new soldiers that were called up, this is done with a new organizational structure and training methods. -The Empire continues to try and exploit the oil reserves that are rumored to exist in Mesopotamia and Arabia.
