Definitions
Feel free to Google the answers or browse our forums, but make sure that you write the reply in your own words, not those of another website or person! Plagiarizing will result in the automatic denial of your application!
What is roleplaying?: Roleplaying is taking a fictional role and immersing yourself in a world with other players, playing that role and character as if it was you yourself. These combined characters interact in a fictional world and set motions through by their own merit, ambition, and personal goals.
What is metagaming?: Metagaming is utilizing information gained out of character and applying it in character. An example would be seeing another player's name in the chat and then calling them by that name in character. Just because you saw it out of character does not mean your roleplay character is aware of the name.
What is power-emoting (powergaming)?: Powergaming is going beyond the reasonable capabilities of your character and/or forcing the actions of other players. This can be something from assuming someone shakes your hand to not fatiguing in a strenuous fight. It is reaching beyond the limits of your character.
In-Character Information Now you actually make your character - be creative but stay reasonable! Make sure they make sense and that they follow lore. Try to come up with a character that you actually want to play.

Character’s race: Heartlander
Character’s age: 19
Biography (Please make it a decent two paragraphs long. Remember to add three references to the server lore):
Ellis Griffith of Sithuan was born on the 13th of Sun's Smile, 1610. He was sired by his knightly father of who served in his local Lord's retinue, bound in service to the Staunton kings of Courland. The petulant wars of late that proceeded the fall of the Orenian Empire saw to wear down Ellis' father, making him the veteran of a hundred battles. Soon after, Courland had begun it's decline. The father of the boy was struck grievously with a lance in single combat, defending the shrinking borders of the once proud Courland against bandits. The wound festered, and soon the knight was laid low. Ellis, now without father (his mother was a tavern wench), was graciously warded by the aforementioned Lord, rooming in the nearby city of Sithuan. There, Ellis experienced most of his childhood.
Sithuan, home to the family de Savin, saw import of many a strange man from across the glittering sea. Ellis would roam the docks, accompanied with fellow wards as they would listen to sailor's tales and haunting fables. Whispers of magic and legendary heroes broke into the young ward's mind, filling him with a curiosity and wonder only the vastness of the sea, and what lay beyond, could fill. The budding youth found himself bound to the mysteries that lay in the suddenly now large world. How *****, he thought, that the noble knight that was his father was so quickly forgotten in the wars of humanity; an inkling in the compendium of warfare sealed in blood. He found no love for warfare in Sithuan. Instead, the boy had found himself in the libraries of Sithuan, learning all he could about the mystical lands of Tahn and the heroic tales that followed suit. He dabbled in the sciences, history, and literature in those libraries, though all too short and brief for his taste. Asul was too dry for the sponge that was Ellis. A voyage was due. Ellis' eighteenth birthday drew near, and the grace that the late Lord had given Ellis now grew thin. From what little his father had left for him, Ellis bought new supplies and chartered for Tahn lest he rot in the Sithuan streets without home.
It was not long before the youth found himself in front of the roaring city of Adelburg, a humming stone caricature visible for miles. He could scarcely feel the permafrost of Johhanesburg's ruins, though so closely near. What magics Ellis sought, what wondrous secrets of the world he looked to learn were now presented in front of him. He need only reach out and take it. And take it he would.
Personality Traits: Ellis is charming in his own endeavors, drawing others in with his personal vision as he was drawn to so many years ago. His smile is broad and laughs jovial in times of personal triumph. His woe knows no rival in times of defeat, and in the middle, lingers a cold somber state of neither happiness or sadness. Some would assume him a sociopath, though never driven with malicious intent. Ellis enjoys challenges and new objectives; mountains to climb and conquer. He thinks himself immune to the carnal desires of mankind. That could not be farther from the truth. His superiority complex makes him deaf to his own personal flaws, himself being more chained to the common sins that befall the Descendants than he realizes. So is the tragic state of youthhood.
Ambitions: Ellis is still captured by the raw imagination that set him forth on his journey. His ambitions, thus are limitless. Far beyond the pointless toil of conflict, Ellis wishes to master the deeper aspects of life. Science, philosophy, and perhaps magic are all on his mind. Power, he has come to thought, is achieved through hard work and dedication. He believes himself on that track.
Strengths/Talents: Ellis draws his strength on intellect, using the roots of his childhood to his advantage where applicable. He considers himself quite the mastermind, though his lifetime confinement to one city may prove otherwise in terms of experience. He has a knack for analyzing details and situations. By consequence, he is a well purposed youth.
Weaknesses/Inabilities: The grandeur of Ellis' perspective is his greatness weakness. By idealizing the big picture, he fully neglects the present. In the presence of others, he may be described as absent minded and dreamy. Though his father was hailed as an exceptional knight, Ellis carries no inherit traits that mirror these tales. His form and physical skill is unimpressive, rendered null by his lack of training.
Appearance: With him, he carried garments suitable to the varying seasons. A thick sable coat hung over his shoulders for the winter months, and thin undershirts and overalls were packed away until the Sun's Smile broke the spring clouds. A castle forged sword was hung on his left side. The blade is fine; castle forged, though never swung in malice or deadly intent. He is a limber youth of nineteen, drawn thin by his long days in the city libraries. His hair is curled black, with emerald eyes shining underneath. The boy's skin complexion is fair and soft to the touch without callus.
