So.. is this something to do with LOTC? Or is it something to do with my dad who has a notorious history and trying to ban my games?

It's a random thing, and i'm not really sure what causes it. Try restarting your minecraft, or just continually trying to log on. Oh, and don't run more than two Minecraft windows at the same time.

Happens to me sometimes.

Restart the game, that happens if it didn't load to your account properly.

Close minecraft, open it.

 

Click multiplayer, click the server and wait a bit before clicking connect.

Yeah, this happens to me a lot of the time. Your best bet is to either just restart minecraft, but if it isn't done then, then see if you have two Minecraft windows open. If not restart your computer and that should fix it.
