~EVENT-TEAM INFORMATION~

The Event-Team, will be comprised of anyone who has the heart and skill required to create exciting and engaging events for LOTC.

What exactly does "Event Team" have?

  • Access to disguisecraft commands to play the role of creatures.
  • Builders have the ability to assist in the construction of dungeons and Event locations.
  • The ability to accept "Event Proposals" Consulting Lore-Masters may also come into play during these proposals aswell.
  • The ability to play unique event characters freely without the need of individual lore posts.
  • Access to a forum that only the event-team will have access to. To work on creating/facilitating dynamic events for all of LOTC.

-You are not required to kill any characters you have. Actors are entrusted that they will not abuse their pex group which allows them to access commands such as /god, /fly, /vanish, /renameevent and /disguise.

-If you wissh to apply for both positions, your app will be looked at sooner and will be placed ahead of those who are applying for only one position. However, know taht the app will be judged far harsher than those who are only applying for one.

-As you progress and stay longer in the ET, you may gain access to more and more commands. At the beginning however, you will be just limited to the basic PEX.

-For the first week of your time on the team you will start out as an intern. This is to test how well you interact with the rest of the team, and how much initiative you show during the week towards builds or events. Interns are judged very harshly, if you are chosen as one be sure to not mess around during that week.

As an event Team Member you must offer your complete honesty in that you will not be abusing these privileges. This means not only are you expected to follow the rules and guidelines of the team but also to be role models to the player base. The Event Team is the most notable face of the staff and for many new players their first staff interaction comes from an Event. This means you shouldn't be disrespectful, trolly or intoxicated IG, on the forums or on Teamspeak.

Its been a month late, but I am the new Event Team Leader. I am firespirit44, and I welcome all of those who post their apps with vigor and applause.

The Event Team is one of the harshest team among LOTC staff team. Why? Because it involves dealing with players, 5, 10s of them, 20, 30. They look for you to have a good time, they want to enjoy it. Think about what would happen if you failed, that your event idea was probably not as good as the players thought. That you had dissapointed them. Could you still hold your head high in the ET?

Do you have the ambition, the fire to /create/ something for others? The ET are never short of creativity, but determination to see a event through, even if that means pushing and shoving people to help out? The ET are not just mere actors, we are a collective melting pot of brains, ideas, critics, actors, builders, and organisers.

But the real guts of being ET stems from the desire for creation and involvement. You can be passionate about building a forest of glass, or be passionate about trying to gather 30 people and rp a kraken attacking their ship. All you need is to stand up and say "Let me do it." I will ask questions, raise objections, and I will ask the tough questions, demand detail. And if you can refute and satisfy all my points, I will support your efforts 100%.

I recently added new questions. "When was the last time you heard/participated in a event?". Ingame knowledge is important, we actually base events around the actions of things that happen in rp.

Its not just about being a good rper, we are basically Dungeon Masters. No matter how small a event, you are the Game Master, and you control what variables and how a event ultimately will go. It is by your will, if you choose to accept the player's action to change their fate. But you are also the difference between a boring story and a excellent story. Quick on your wits and quick on the fingers, you must be.

But despite all of this, at the core the ET is about providing fun. You and the players both must enjoy what you are doing, or else there is no point in doing it. I cannot expect you to show other players fun, if you are not having fun yourself.

I post this now, because I have made amends to the new ET format. Slight changes, brandnewkitten has laid a good skeleton for me to work with. Also I want new ET applicants to know what to expect, when applying. Do not be discouraged when I deny you, it might not be because your app is unattractive, but because I have too many staff in the same timezone. Those who are denied are free to reapply in one month's time.

For applicants who were denied, please refer to this checklist

  1. Was all 3 of my event scenarios a repeat of what everyone has thought of before?
  2. Monster attacks are generally not very interesting unless there is a reason why the monster is attacking.
  3. Caravan coming under attack is not viable as there are no caravans in LOTC
  4. Necromancers are incredibly overused at a point I'm about to just deny people if I see anymore necromancers.
  5. Your reasoning for joining the ET does not fit with our organizational goals
  6. You are unable to dedicate time to playing a ET and your regular characters
  7. Creativity is not a strong point. If it is, it has to be pretty outstanding.
  8. There are too many ETs in that specific timezone
  9. Your personality is at question.

All denied apps can reapply in one month.

I'm looking for interesting events. If I have 20 staff members who all do the same thing, what is the point in it? I want a good variety, and I'm sorry to say all "monster killing ent forest horror and necromancer" ETs have been taken already (3 of them being necromancers).

Let me give you a example. For a group of 5, we can have a epic battle upon the Northern cliffs, as you are bringing a group of knights to learn the way of sword fighting, hence enlisting the help from a ancient hermit in the caves. For a group of 10, we can have a tea party. A Alice in the Wonderland themed tea party, with goofy and out of the ordinary common sense builds. For 20 people we can have the retrieval of a sword in the stone, from a graveyard of bones and swords, getting past the ghosts of the past by finding their real names upon the tombstones and naming them. It sounds crazy, but crazy is what makes a impact. I'm not looking for people who fit in a mould. I'm looking for people who can fit outside the mould and dissect it on the inside.

I dont mind hardworkers, but I prefer people who can create memories. We aren't here to create new content, we're here to reinforce the content already made.

We are always looking for strong builders and engaging actors on the team. If you are interested in applying, feel free. If your application is not immediately handled, do not worry. Generally, unless an application truly stands out, we will be accepting/denying applicants in groups. I implore any applicant to be patient and take the extra time, should there be any, to update and add towards their thread.
