Malinor's Anchor Thread For December

Greetings fellow ET members. If you're reading this, it's because you have eyes.

I'm fairly sleep deprived, but this post will have to undergo some heavy editing anyway as planning commences, so here goes.

December is going to be our official test run for letting Fiend do whatever the hell she wants so bear with me. Puns always intended.

"A" represents primarily actor-based. "B" is the opposite.

Summary; The New System

Here's how it's going to work. Events will be organized with a fairly simple and conducive planning stage,  and presented in "stages". The "quotes" mean I'm being clever with my words.

We'll be able to discuss and organize events on our own time, and accommodate for time zone differences and planning problems. Basically not making a system that we have to conform to, but one that works for us. Damn those artistic types being all hard to keep up with, amirite?

Step One: The Idea

All events start with an idea. If it's an idea for a one-off event, you're good! All set! Go nuts!

However if it is meant for/might be better as a plot, then move on to step two. I included this step just to make it look more like a block of text because I feel like this should be more complicated than it is. #honesty

Step Two: The Brainstorm

Though steps one and two are very similar, they're not quite the same. This part can be done by you or a group, bouncing ideas off of each other to get a better feel for what characters will need to be involved, the general timeline, possible endings, and stuff like that. This is a good time to focus on hard limits, so you can better guide your fellow ETs in participating in your events.

Step Three: The Finalizing

While you can still go back to change things AKA pm me, once an event series is finalized it's important to check for updates, as it can officially begin. They will appear on this post, the format for which can be seen below (but I'll handle that). Finalized doesn't mean it can't be changed, but once events are entered you need to run it by the leader to make any major changes.

This is the process for submitting events, but participating in them is much easier! You just have to read and jump right in. No kidding, don't even ask, just do it. You only need to notify an event leader if something you do could change the ending of their event.

TL;DR There was no point anyway. Read event, do event. Make much series for great justice.

 {A} The Lost Queen [1-22]

Leader: Fiend

Requires GM Involvement? No

Summary: Little creatures that could only be described as fairies are being spotted around Malinor. They are all upset, though, by the loss of their queen! Her loss disables their magical powers, trapping them among the mortals. How will the citizens of Malinor react to them?

Creature Details: The fairies are very short, half a foot tall at most. They come in a variety of styles and can be as varied in personality as any other humanoid, but all connect in a central "snowy" theme, drawing from a color palette of blue and white. They have paper white skin and blue eyes, and their hair can be white or blue.

Hard Limits: They cannot be too significant, or affect the environment too strongly. Being nature spirits, they should believe this themselves. If someone wants to dissect a fairy, it's like a mini-human. Snow magic cannot fell a tree. Fairies might make good toothpicks for orcs. Small, weak, pointless but adorable.

Claims: Please leave the queen/grinch to me. Other than that, go nuts~

Notes: Have MPM. Like seriously. The queen's name is Erynaela. Skin for the lazy: http://imgur.com/KZMqloP

Stages

1st - 12th :: The fairies begin their introduction. Characters can be recurring or a one-off. The number of these creatures is unknown. They are able to integrate with mortals fairly well at this stage, naturally at home in the season. They are able to do some "snow magic", like throwing snowballs and making snow angels with their mind. Adorableness is encouraged.

This is where the grinch needs to be introduced... why not.

13th :: This is the day the queen goes missing. It's a stressful day, as their magic is almost instantly weakened, then slowly deteriorates into nothingness. They can express grief or distress at the idea that their queen is missing in a number of ways based on their personality.  This should affect them physically as well as mentally. Rumors and supposed witnesses claim the grinch stole her!

14th - 15th :: They get very sick on these days. Each will react differently to this sickness. Their skin begins to change color.

16th :: They begin to give quests and offer rewards for the return of the queen. There is more of a sense of urgency now. They are still sick, but less prevalently so.

18th :: The fairies hold a funeral for the queen they can't find, as is apparently customary in their tradition. They are mournful and sad, getting ready for their life among the mortals as equals, no magic. Their skin will have faded to a slightly greyer hue.

22rd :: The fairy queen can be "found" starting on this day if players choose to look, or can be looted off of the smelly grinch if they decide to try reasoning with him.

 {B} Deck The Walls [10-30]

Leader: Fiend

Requires GM Involvement? Maybe

Summary: A number of floating decorations appear around Malinor, seemingly at random. In truth, a rogue (insane) enchanter is behind them. Will they be seen as a gift, or a nuisance?

Build Details: Stick to a Christmasy theme, but otherwise have fun. They can be literally floating, or on trees. Maybe a little of both. Maybe take decorations and make them float.

Hard Limits: Check the stage list for details before building. Do not block walkways, but buildings are not off limits. Make it distinct from normal decorations.

Claims: I'll hold onto the enchanter's role for now so no plot holes arise but I'm flexible to give it away.

Stages

10th - 15th :: Stick to minimalistic things. None too flashy, but semi-noticeable.

16th - 20th :: Builds can get a good bit bigger. Make noticeable floating baubles. Replace them if they get broken too much. Create lights that flicker if you can. :^)

20th- 25th :: Make one or two annoyingly big things. Make them very noticeable now.

25th - 30th :: This will depend on what people do with the baubles in the prior stages. The enchanter will appear around now and Malinor can decide what to do with him.

So you're not just a pretty face. Love the look of this, Fiend, and excite to see how it will turn out.
