Edmunds wall

This is probably a rather foolish idea. But i shall speak it anyway. Seeing as the North is almost lost and judging by the attempts to keep it, will be lost to the undead. We must find a way to keep the undead from invading the rest of Aegis. One way of doing so is containment. Similar to Hadrian's Wall built by the Romans to keep the savage scottish tribes from invading what is now England. The way that these battles are progressing bears some similarities. We build towns in the North despite the risk of the undead. The attack and raid the settlements eventually destroying them and pushing the inhabitants out. We then attack them but are overwhelmed and forced to retreat or are slaughtered. We begin to lose a footing in the North and start moving further south. It does bear some similarities to what happened between the romans and the tribes before the wall was built. Of course i doubt that the King or any other high ranking official would consider this idea of a large wall stretching from coast to coast. It would need many resources and much manpower and time. Time being the resource which we are running out of.

Again im pointing out at that this is is but the ramblings of my own. Also i am no historian so my points may be flawed.

This wouldn't last long. We would waste so many resources just to have the undead break two random blocks and pass through.

if this is ooc ill add my two cents. You would need to make it like 20 blocks thick, and of obsidian. about 10 or so blocks high, and then have only ONE entrance/exit that needs to have much more manpower than regular. You then station a soldier every once and a while to watch for undead coming to scale the wall.

I think a small partially ruined wall stretch across the north could add to the scenery and the story. Obviously we can't build a massive obsidian wall to keep everyone out, even that could be easily circumvented. Instead a small ruined wall could convey the fear of the undead and the sense of last ditch efforts to defend the rest of the south.

I understand the wall; you suggest needs to be fortified but 20 blocks thick and obsidion? That is a bit overkill. It would not look right on the land. And have you seen how far it would stretch across Oren? It would take an age to construct. Although I think any wall would need 2 gateways at least due to its huge length and with towers at regular intervals.

I would be more inclined to go for the ruined wall but not right away. A wall around 2 wide and 6 high. not including the gatehouse and towers. It is small yes. But in terms of time there is not enough of it to construct a huge wall across the north. Also it wouldnt look over imposing on the landscape, and when the time comes for it to be a ruin, a part of the history then it would be alot easier and quicker to do than a huge thick wall.

I would be glad to help you IC with this endeavor Fantasti. As you know my character had already attempted to start such a project. It could add tremendously to the games lore whether the wall actually provided significance defense or not.

I was only bringing up the suggestion I am not actually going to create a wall, it is not in my nature to build such things.

There is a more extensive topic expanding my idea here viewtopic.php?f=55&t=12677 which could use the help of a builder such as yourself.
