Early Spring normally brings joy into the inhabitants of roykstad, the newborn lambs take their first steps, the fields begin sprouting new growth, markets open. But this year is different, the snow lingers on, the cold still creeps over the people. Few lambs were born, and the fields lay barren. Everyone blames this on one cause, the mountain that looms behind the town. White smoke has slowly been spewing out of Mt. Mireleth for as long as the town has been there, but during the last winter, it began to bellow out smoke. Many believe that is why many citizens have fallen ill, why the water from the river is warm, even hot, to the touch, and why the lord of the land has had only girls from his new wife. Something must be done.
