"How many are gone now with my extended absence?"

Sitting quietly atop a tree somewhere far off the road where he had simply wondered to, he pursed his lips, considering his life now. He wasn't sure just how many had gone to their ends without him ever knowing. There were so many he couldn't even find people who knows their names.

"I come to claim a family of sorts...only to lose an old friend...his son is a spitting image of him. It's difficult to see him holding such a similar resolve. The reminder is painful."

The setting son only made him think of the deep red color that had come through that stained glass as he stood with Damien. The most important person...the one he'd ran away from...he hadn't the will to ask too much about her. Lafthi might know, but seeing Malineer does not know makes him fear the answer.

"Rilath is here, but he finds himself at a loss since seeing Shoi...she was cold to me as well. The last time we had spoken there were joyful talks and laughs abound...yet now I am seen as a reminder to her of the worst times in our history..."

Reaching up, he placed his hands on the black coat that Lorethos had given to him, clutching some of it in his hand. The people he just wanted to at least know were still alive and well was difficult to really manage to list. He had brought so much darkness to the world when it was not needed. He was just a reminder to so many. At least Lorethos smiled at the sight of him.

"We had many shadows in our history, Lucas, but we are both beyond those now."

"Where is that drive you used to have...huh, Shen?"

The Salty Spittoon. It was a pleasant place to him. It's darkness held an appeal for him that fitted to his view of himself and his past. Pieces of his past were coming together now...he raised the bottle of ale to his mouth, taking a long drink of it.

At least Ouity hadn't tried to kill him. He got the nerve to ask him about her, but he didn't know. The truth he expected scared him. He didn't want to hear it, but he had to know how it went. Ouity was a reminder of darker times and even he had changed for it.

"There was a reason the Druids of old accepted me, Ouity."

He understood well where his old friend had gone. However with each step, he was beginning to understand what he needed to do. Not only to this world, but for the Shades. Malineer was changing, Lynx was struggling, Rilath was chasing his true love, and he was somewhere in the middle of it all. Stuck. He returned to these people he once knew, these lands he was once familiar with, far different from who he left it as.

But he felt stuck.

Vinzakra held some points strong, even if it was obvious he felt he couldn't say much on Lucas due to not having pieced him together yet. A blade would not be all he needed. Lucas was lacking action. However, it was strange in speaking to the Gravelord. He hadn't expected certain things about him. He almost felt like he was trying to prevent Lucas from taking a wrong step in the future and falling before his time.

He knew what he needed to step forward. He needed to be aware of what happened to his past. All that he walked away from. And now he was finding those who could answer these questions.

It was difficult for Lucas to take these steps forward, but he was once again gathering the ties and loyalties he needed. He was scared to get closer, but he knew the answer was coming to him for the question he didn't want to ask, but needed most.
