Out-Of-Character Information

The simplest section of the application! Simply answer these questions so we can get to know you a bit better.

What’s your Minecraft Account Name?: - My Minecraft account name is FreeMason_Gamer.
How old are you?: - I am 15 years old.
What time-zone do you live in?: - I live in Eastern Standard Time, which is currently Eastern Daylight Time.

Have you ever roleplayed before - if you have, how?: - Yes, I have played on another Minecraft roleplaying server for almost the past year, and I have been playing other roleplaying games for nearly the past five years.
Have you been on any other roleplaying servers?: - A few, but primarily the Legend of Aelryth server.
Have you applied to this server before? (Please link past applications): - No, this is my first application for Lord of the Craft.

How did you hear about us?: - From a friend of mine. I asked him if he knew of any good roleplaying servers, and he pointed this server out to me.
What do you think the server will be like? - I think it will be interesting, to say the least. I have never played on such a large server, so I imagine that the roleplay will be rich and plentiful.
Have you read and agreed to the rules?: - Yes, I have read the rules and strongly agree with them.
What’s your favourite rule / the rule you agree with the most?: - "If you feel the need to curse (swear) IC, keep it tasteful and don't overdo it. Insults that fit your character are encouraged, rather than real-world curses, such as an Orc using “Skah” or a Human telling someone to “go plough yourself!”." I found this rule to be very interesting and useful. Thanks to this rule, players have that much more reason to read race lore and to avoid cursing like sailors.

Definitions

This is simply so that we can get an understanding of how much you know about roleplaying. Feel free to Google the answers, but make sure that you write the reply in your own words, not another website / person's!

What is roleplaying?: - Roleplaying is acting using the mindset of a character within a fictional situation. With knowledge of this character's strengths, weaknesses, personality, and history, you would play that character's role according to the situation, hence the term "roleplaying".

What’s metagaming?: - Metagaming is acting upon information you know as a player, but do not know as a character. An example would be getting a message from another player, suggesting that you go raid a village IC. Deciding to raid the village without any roleplaying leading up to that decision is metagaming, in my mind at least. However, if the characters have reason to raid the village, gather allies, and plan for the raid IC, then it may not be considered metagaming.

What’s powergaming?: - Powergaming is warping the roleplay to make your character superior to everyone else's. Refusing to react to attacks, never allowing your foes to win in combat, and basically trying to be invincible is the definition of powergaming to me.

In-Character Information

Now you actually make your character - be creative but stay reasonable! Make sure they make sense and that they follow lore. Try to come up with a character that you actually want to play.

What’s your character called?: - My character's name is Valorin Duskvale.

What race are they (and sub-race)?: - He is an Elf, and a member of the Wood Elf sub-race.

What sex are they?: - He is male.

How old are they?: - He is 96 years old, just short of being considered a man.

Give us a brief description of their life - their story, childhood, family (Include server lore when writing): - As it was not particularly uncommon, Valorin was born to a Wood Elf mother and a High Elf father. During the first few months of his life, he and his parents lived in a rustic cottage on the outskirt of his mother's home village in Malinor. However, circumstances unknown to Valorin forced them to leave, and they spent the following years on the road, wandering the lands of Malinor and beyond. Much adventure came from this nomadic lifestyle, but it came at the cost of much danger. They were often threatened by petty bandits and wild animals, but his mother's archery and his father's magic kept them safe.

One day, however, they were ambushed by an entire gang of experienced highwaymen that numbered nearly a dozen. Valorin's mother and father fought bravely, but they killed his father and almost killed his mother; Valorin watched in terror as his family's doom loomed before them. Their savior was an Orc, of all people. This Orc had been hunting nearby and had heard the fighting, so he had charged in and killed every last bandit. Once the bandits were dead, he simply left Valorin and his wounded mother, carrying a pair of heads in each hand. Gathering what he could from the gory scene, the twelve-year-old Valorin dragged his mother to a nearby settlement, where she was healed at the cost of both their freedom.

So, Valorin and his mother spent the next several decades in slavery; they were provided pitiful shelter, disgusting food, and tattered clothes for the cost of constant ridicule and intense labor. This miserable existence carried on for most of Valorin's life until he was about forty. A particular slave caravan came to the settlement, and with them rude and dishonorable slavers. Two of them found Valorin's and his mother's hut one evening, and they were very cruel in their drunken state. In a violent act of malice, they almost killed his mother, but Valorin was not going to watch his mother die as he did his father. So, he grabbed the slavers' own knives and stabbed them both to death.

Valorin and his mother quickly ran away that night, and their owner was benevolent enough to not put bounties on their heads. Running like mad, the two eventually came to their home in Malinor, where Valorin and his mother worked as farmhands. One day they were able to afford their own spit of land, and Valorin's mother even found a caring Wood Elf husband. As their relationship grew, Valorin matured, spending much time out hunting in the woodlands. He, his mother, and her husband were all on good terms with one another; he simply never acclimated to that life. So, with the eventual news of their unborn child, Valorin gave his mother and her husband his blessings, said his goodbyes to his unborn half-sibling, and packed up all his hunting gear. He ventured back out into the world of Anthos, prepared to journey to its farthest reaches in search for adventure, freedom, and perhaps even himself.

Unfortunately, this urge for adventure came to a violent halt as the End of the Anthosian Era drew closer. As he wandered Anthos, Valorin was shocked when it began to storm one day and the weather never improved. Violent tales of the Black Scourge haunted Valorin as he desperately tried to get back home. As the Scourge journeyed south and brought death to Anthos, Valorin heard rumors of a great battle at the Cloud Temple Sanctuary, where a great massacre destroyed the land. Then, during the very end of it all, Valorin stood at the Door of Eternity with the rest of Anthos' refugees, his family nowhere to be seen. If it were not for the strangers that had restrained him, Valorin would have joined his mother, stepfather, and half-sibling in the cataclysm of Anthos. Now, Valorin simply wanders The Fringe without purpose, living like an animal.

What are they like (personality)?: - Valorin appears to be a very dark, emotionless, and uncaring person, and that outer shell will likely remain with him for the rest of his life. As he simply survives in The Fringe, he constantly reminds himself of that crushing loss of his family, and that he might have been able to save them if he hadn't left. This guilt and sorrow haunts Valorin in every waking moment, and his dreams are nightmarish reminders of the ruined land he left his family to die in. However, deep beneath all of this pain, Valorin does have a bit of a personality. If someone was successful at coaxing it out, they would learn that Valorin was once an optimistic, outgoing person; not the cold, instinctual being he is now. Even before the loss of Anthos, Valorin was quite paranoid, which still resonates strongly in his mind. Maybe one day, Valorin might be able to forgive himself and revive the young man he once was, becoming that honorable, friendly, and charismatic Wood Elf he used to be.

What are their ambitions?: - Valorin had once hoped for adventure, wishing to see all the wonders the world has to offer, but that is a mere fantasy nowadays. In the unforgiving lands of The Fringe, Valorin simply strives for existence, doing whatever is necessary to survive another day in this realm. As with the other surviving Wood Elves, he also follows a subconscious ambition of finding himself, and maybe he could possibly move on from the traumatizing cataclysm that destroyed his home and took his family. Also, because of his terrible childhood as a slave and the destruction of his world, a never-ending hunt for justice and even a tinge of vengeance lingers in Valorin's actions, even though he often does not waste time interfering in such affairs.

Do they have any special skills?: - He used to have skills as a farmer, but now Valorin is simply a hunter, an animal. He can track, hunt, and use a bow with deadly accuracy. He also has some experience collecting herbs, and he has knowledge of how to use them for medicinal purposes. In melee combat, Valorin attacks with knives, relying on his ruthless and innate skills with them. However, Valorin will most often use stealth and "dirty fighting" to his advantage, since he is somewhat thinner and a little weaker than the average Wood Elf.

What are their weaknesses?: - Valorin's greatest weakness or negative quality would be his inhumanity. Since having endured so much pain and suffering throughout his life, Valorin has fled deep within himself, hiding behind a shield of sorrow, paranoia, loss, and guilt to protect himself from any further suffering. Because of this quality, Valorin often takes a very instinctual mindset and attitude when solving problems of any variety. This practically negates any unnecessary socialization, and makes him appear as a very savage person, which may not actually be the case if he came out of his shell of despair, figuratively speaking.

Give us a description of how they look (not a screenshot yet!)?: - Valorin is a staggering 6', substantially taller than the average Wood Elf, thanks to her father's High Elvish heritage. However, this is his only physical feature that hints at his Highborn blood. Valorin has cinnamon skin like the baked earth, and he has a lean, fit build. His hair is a darker shade of dirty blonde similar the sand on a riverbank. As was once custom for Wood Elves of Malinor, Valorin dresses in green and brown hunting attire; a hooded cloak, vest, linen undershirt, think pants, and leather boots. This Elf's eyes are an unusual golden color, which is strange among both Wood Elves and High Elves; their gaze is emotionless, cold, and focused. Valorin has facial features that are sharp and angled, not dissimilar to the appearance of a hawk or eagle. A recurve bow and quiver hang from his back, and nearly a dozen assorted knives line the interior of his cloak and hang from his belt.

Anything else you want to say about them?: - I do hope that via good role play, Valorin might be able to eventually come out his shell. I do like his current instinctual persona, but character development is key, and I would like to see him develop into something more as time passes.
Please give us a screenshot of your character’s skin: - ((I attached the photo to this post, so I hope it went through.))
