Erinaco 0 Share Posted June 30, 2014 Out-Of-Character Information What’s your Minecraft Account Name?: - Erinaco How old are you?: - Fifteen. Still. Have you ever roleplayed on a minecraft server before? If so, where?: - You may know me from Fallout: Wild Wasteland as Willian Daniels, Sector Two as Cynthia Charlotte Carruthers, or Echoes of the Ancients as Vivian Wickes or Maciela Carlisle. Have you applied to this server before?: - I have not, no. How did you hear about us?: - When talking about minecraft roleplay, the infamous LotC is bound to pop up eventually. And in all honesty, I don't yet see what's so bad about it further than the mechanics rules, and the PvP default. What do you think the server will be like? - I try not to get my hopes up, as it's much too easy to hear negative things about this server, but at the same time, I'm thinking I'll like it here. Have you read and agreed to the rules?: - I have, and do. What’s the rule you agree with the most?: - The majority vote deciding on PvP or RPPvP, simply because I'm pathetic at PvP due to a terrible computer, and so I stand a much better chance when it's played out properly. Do you understand combat rules, and what you can and can’t do if you do choose to roleplay as a villain?: - I can't remember any specific mention of villains, but I'll assume this is referancing the rule about needless extreme violence? I don't know about that, but it oughtn't be a problem, as I don't plan on playing a villain. Are there any rule that confuse you or don’t make sense?: - Further than not understanding why you choose to prefer what can be done with minecraft mechanics over what would be realistic, I understand the rules and regulations. Definitions I'll keep these brief, because this is the third time I've had to write them out due to technical difficulties... ;-; What is roleplaying?: - Roleplaying is the act of making a character, and reacting as they would to certain stimuli - such as events, other characters, places, or things. What’s metagaming?: - Metagaming is, quite simply, using OOC information IC. For instance, knowing Bob is in the market OOC, so going to kill him IC, despite your character not knowing. What’s powergaming?: - There are two types of powergaming: There's making your character more powerful than they would be, and there's forcing your actions upon someone else so as they can't react or defend themselves. In-Character Information What’s your character called?: - James Alder What race are they?: - Pure-blood Elf. What gender are they?: - Male. How old are they?: - 23, still in the grips of adolescence. Biography: - "You want to hear a story, eh? I can't promise it'll be a good one, but here goes." Alder sat back in the chair at the inn, with a smile. He mimed opening up a book, blowing dust off of the pages, and running his finger down it. He looked up, to check he was being entertaining, before he continued. "I grew up with humans. Bet you weren't expecting that. It was a small farm, inside Malinor." His smile grows, and he gives a wink. "This story is full of surprises, I promise." "Get on with it." One of the drunkards called, getting annoyed with his side-tracking. Alder was infamous for getting off the point in this inn, and even those that wouldn't remember the story the next day would get frustrated when he did it. "Fine, fine. So a fishing village- No, a farm. It was certainly a farm." A weary drone came from his audience, and he surveyed his crowd. "But anyway, I grew up with my mother and father, as is usual for most children I am told, and led a fairly normal life. Only, as you may be able to tell, I didn't really fit in all that well with the humans. Whilst they were all dropping dead, and whatnot, my parents seemed to simply live on. Despite the gift of longevity, this turned out to not be so great. The curse of the humans turned out to be a curse upon us, as well, for when they were dead and dying and my parents were spritely, they got... suspicious." Alder looked around, expectantly, and almost begging for some reaction. One of the people at the back gave a mocking gasp, but that was about it. However, James was impressed at the crowd he'd managed to draw in. He continued, despite the boredom that seemed to be set upon everone's faces. "You see, they ended up chasing us out of town. It took a while, long enough for my parents to have me, but they seemed more than thoroughly annoyed none the less. I'm not sure if they were jealous or what, but they were not happy, I can tell you!" A voice came from the back, exclaiming dissapointment in the story, but its owner continued to sit, and listen. "A family of Elves being on the run in Malinor isn't all that much of a problem, usually, but they didn't seem to like us all that much. Thought our mouths were a bit too loose, and our heads not screwed on quite right. I resent the accusations, but they stood firm and, possibly, true." "Eventually, when I was about sixteen I believe, we managed to find a place to settle down properly. I was adventurous, back then. I'd wander about the outskirts of our new town, filled with Elves, and not a human in sight." A member of the crowd gave a boo. "I'm not sure if I liked this or not, though. I'd come to enjoy the company of their kind, even if they didn't find the same pleasures in my own. I longed to go back there, but more than anything, I had a thirst for knowledge. I was sixteen, and we'd traveled for most of my life. I'd never sat through a lesson, let alone a day at a school-house. You can imagine my surprise and delight when I met someone that offered what I was looking for." Alder sat forward in his seat, with a devilish grin. "Oh, it was a bad omen, I know, but he offered to teach me things I'd never even heard of. He spoke of illusions, and alteration, and conjuration, and all manners of magic, and delights! He claimed that he would teach me, and that I would learn to be great. That was a good few years ago now, and I've yet to learn anything of the sort. He was a slaver, you see, and a bad one at that. He thought nothing of me, but a young kid that would go with him easily. Oh, I can yell you, he was wrong! He took me along with him, nice and gentle like, before I realised where we were going. The slave market was ahead of us, and I knew it. Flogging 'em like fresh vegetables." He let his words sink in with the crowd for a bit, before continueing so as no-one would interrupt his flow. "Quick as you like, I jumped out of that carriage after grabbing a purse of coins, and ran for the hills. I never saw head nor tail of him again, but I was completely lost in territory I had no idea about. And so, I wandered, and bought supplies with what I could until I found a small inn, and someone there took pity. It was a few years before this happened, though, and I'd spent a lot of that time moving from farm to farm earning my keep. It's boring but easy enough work, but I'm not all that keen on it." The drunkard from earlier called forth again, but Alder ignored him. "And so, I eventually ended up here, telling you lot the story. And I've been settled here for much too long, now. It's time to continue the journey onward." With this, Alder got to his feet, and leaving a coin on the table for his drink, made to leave. What are they like?: - Alder is the embodiment of neutrality. Or, so he likes to think. When having to take a side, he will often opt for that which is losing, or out-numbered, unless it is obviously in the wrong. Whilst this may be the case, he is not one to back down from a challenge, even if it may end badly. What are their ambitions?: - Alder is, generally, not a particularly ambitious person. Further than wishing to gain access to the magics he was promised as a child, he simply wishes to go about his business and live a long, peaceful, and enjoyable life. Do they have any special skills? What are their weaknesses?: - Alder's strengths almost all come with a few inherent weaknesses, and those that don't are outnumbered by the weaknesses he harbours individually. For example, whilst spending a lot of time working on a farm has lent him a good deal of strength, a lack of combat training leaves him with little knowledge of what to do in the case of a fight. What he likes to think of his charm and wit will often leave people with a bitter taste, due to him feeling himself ever so slightly superior to everyone else simply for being him. Give us a description of how they look?: - Alder's good looks, and handsomely rugged features are usually hidden away behind his clothing. He wears his hair up, and it waves slightly to the side, but his face is masked by an old piece of cloth his parents taught him to wear as a precaution against disease. He wears a large, brown cloak, and under it his clothing is obviously old, and well-worn. The leather of his boots is cracked, and his belt has seen better days. His shirt and trousers obviously aren't in their prime, either. Please give us a screenshot of your character’s skin: - It's not the best picture of it, but it's better than nothing, I guess. http://gyazo.com/f13a2edb5059afb1435f0567980cffb7
