The Cathedral of Saint Amyas

Amidst the pine woodland, two men surveyed their surroundings intently. As the one on the left gave a short nod, his comrade on the right drew forth a flag, emblazoned upon it the Lorraine Cross, and thrust it into the ground, a thin smile displayed upon his features.

Merely half a day later the forest near Leuvaarden became a hive of activity. Labourers and Order-Men alike wormed their way throughout the forest like ants: felling great trees and flattening the land with their shovels. The Count wrung his hands together as he looked over the men; already the erection of a building coming to fruition in his mind.

Finally, a season later, work had commenced upon the true building itself. With the dirt freshly packed and the great trunks of pine trees still being pulled away by pack horses, the spires began to take shape. The men moved about the scaffolding quickly, transporting large chunks of stone on stallions and hoisting them via complicated systems of winches and cranes. Already, merely a season into his plans, the Count inspected the construction of the framework of his cherished cathedral.

The man scampered over the ladders and walkways, clinging onto the mighty spire, the team of laborers in pursuit. Reaching the top they began to lay down the rafters and beams for such a mighty roof as this - the previously felled spruce and pine trees now being hauled in to help support this behemoth of stone.

And finally, the great panes of glass - painstakingly stained and decorated by skilled artisans- were inserted into their places. Lifted delicately by skilled laborers and slotted into their specific places, they magnified the beauty of the location tenfold.

The helmeted figure conceded a smirk as he strode down the aisle, heading towards the finely chiselled altar as he beheld the newly-completed cathedral. Hung in the hallway, only recently placed, was a life-like portrait of St. Amyas himself, with one palm outstretched and the other clenching a Lorraine Cross. Casting his gaze up, the Count admired the vaulted ceiling, its elevation casting it in shadows. Now, the faithful folk of Savoy had a proper site of worship, one that would surely stake its claim in the history books.

The Vice-Chancellor-Regent Humbert de Bar dips his pen in ink, drafting a letter to the honorable Duke de Savoie and Guy de Bar.

"In the name of the Creator, the Church of the Canon congratulates you on the construction of another holy site. A diocese has been formed encompassing all lands east of Petrus under the right and honorable Duke of Savoie. The diocese will be vacant until a bishop is appointed. If you have any recommendations for priesthood or priests to become bishop, send me a letter back.

Creator wills it,

Humbert de Bar"
