The Levy of Estermarsh

 

Who Are the Marshmen?

The Marshmen are a force of soldiers recruited and loyal to the knightly hold of Estermarsh under the county of Adria. In times of war the fight alongside the armies of Oren and the personal knightly retinue of Brennen Roost. They live and reside in the keep of Mistmont. In times of peace protect the nearby city and hovels.

 

Pay

The Marshmen are payed every other Saints Week, each receives a certain amount of minas due to his current ranking. 

The Captain is in charge of getting and distributing pay.

​The Levyman receives 100 minas.

The Footman receives 0 minas.

 

 

Rankings

 

The Knight of Griffin's Perch  (Currently: Ser Brennen Roost)

He who rules over Estermarsh, the Levy is overall loyal to him however most of their commands are received from their captain. 

The Captain (Currently: Ser George Wilcon)

He does the primary recruiting and training of the levy. In charge of distributing weapons and pay, complaints and questions go to him. 

The Thane of Mistmont (Currently: Rozalina Steelwall)

While not holding any power over the levy, the Thane of Mistmont runs the castle in which the levy lives. Their word is respected albeit not order. Their family and other residents of the keep are to be treated with respect. 

Knight

Any soldier within the levy that has been knighted for his service to Oren. These soldiers are treated with utmost respect and are a role model of chivalry on the battlefield.

 

Levyman

The bulk of the levy, a marshman or simply a levyman  is payed 100 minas every other elven week and is charged with bringing zeal and honor to the battlefield.

Footman 

The new-bloods of the levy, a footman is payed 0 minas every other elven week and is charged with learning the ropes and serving Oren as much as any full payed soldier would. 

 

Uniform

There are two variants to the uniform, each with its own pin. The Levyman and Footman have a silver pin while the Captain and Knight have gold pins.

While much recruiting is done in person, most if not all levymen are required to fill out an application.
