OliTassell 9 Share Posted August 31, 2011 I agree with Count VanRourke, many times few guards patrol the cities or surrounding areas. The army needs to be more organized, maybe even employing help to 'reform' it's self into a more organized and effective group, they may even take a couple of points from the mercenary groups or other such ranked member groups, setting out exact (all be it slightly flexible) promotion targets, to give the guards something to work towards. Organizing the ranks properly would allow guards to recognize easily who their superiors are, and who can give orders to them. Along with this setting punishments as well as rewards for the job they do will keep people in line, sometimes the guard force needs policing as well as the citizens. ~Alex Benjamin~
JCQuiinn 168 Share Posted August 31, 2011 furthermore, the hodgepodge military that patrols around Oren needs to be willing to fight. Recently, one of the Undead was spotted near where Snowy Fields used to be. Sadly, when a runner went to the Capitol for help, none were willing to support the FOA. Robin Drake 731 Share Posted August 31, 2011 A fort near the city? Nay. Should it be taken, just like every other defensive position then the undead will have a place to build another undead fort closer to the city, that is bad, very bad. Towers along the road or in the North in general would be good. If they are all with in sight rage they could have beacons which could be lit by guards at each tower as a warning of an impending attack so as to allow the defenses in the City to be properly manned. As for the Wall idea. It will not work, there is not enough manpower to patrol it and even if there was our resources would be stretched to thin over the northern border. pewpewnotqq 0 Share Posted August 31, 2011 Aye, the idea about small close towers would serve well but we only need a few scattered around the northern area and perhaps a lighthouse or two, to watch both bodies of water around the city. ((and maybe make like Lotr type towers with signal flames to speed information quicker)).
AceDaCase 2 Share Posted August 31, 2011 Incentive for guards to man the towers could include extra pay, or maybe some protected chests and living space under the tower. Just a thought.
Aren Whitestorm 65 Share Posted September 1, 2011 Even if we want to fulfill our ideas, we need men, and ven in light of recent facts Guards Recruitment in Oren has been halted! We need to create an united military force, consisting of every race, using their very best skills. As for pewpewnotqq's idea about lighthouses, it's very good in my opinion. Flames could symbolize incoming enemies, also the message could be passed much faster than enemy army's speed. I would suggest using flexible defence, combined with counter-attacks. we should have groups of commandos who would sabogate enemy's supplies, army, set up traps, etc. We need to show creativity in planning the war. Al-Khazar cannot fall. Also, there should be a team of specially trained bodyguards to accompany King, so we do not repeat events from 5 years back. ~Aren Wayworn~
