The First Trial

The caves dripped and echoed around the young dark elf. Her long black hair draped around her as she took her position in the back of Ker'nor caves. Her milky dual colored eyes glancing about as she bit into the last of her crackers. Her final food before she began the first of many trials. A few white strands of hair fall before her eyes hindering her already cloudy vision.
 

 
The noises in the cave slowly grew louder as her eyes closed and she began to meditate. Her breathing began to slow as she relaxed. Each drip of water echoed among the crystals. Her ears twitching uncontrollably at the stronger sounds. A squeak informed her of some mice that had nested in one of the crannies nearby. Her skin cooling as she sat there.

The day passed slowly for her as she drew herself deeper into her meditation. Merely nine years of age, the young mali'ker was on her way to be something worthy in her clan. Z'raeth was not like her predecessors in the Oussana clan. Calmer after the loss of her mother Dalninil, Z'raeth had sworn to her father that she would become a priestess of the Ancestors.

Mizziyrn had told her of her first task. Meditation and fasting. Only two days in and she was feeling weakness set in. She would not disappoint her father. Mizz and Salendys were the only family she had in her mind. Time continued to pass by slowly. By her fourth day, she had become too weak to leave her little cove on her own. She would drink from the nearby stream but still ate nothing.

By her seventh day, she had finished her fasting. Taking some new crackers Mizziyrn had left out for her, she ate slowly, trying to regain her strength. She made her way back to the temple and prayed. She had passed her first trial. Despite her blindness and her weakness, she swore she would become something new. It would be here in the temple her family and friends would find her.

((This is an IC event that I have done for my character Z'raeth. I am starting up the Ancestral Priests and giving the darkies some culture. My hope is to get Z'raeth to a point she can become the first Ker'nor Priestess. If you have any good ideas for trials, let me know. I am also interested in Orcish trials for spirit walking.))
