What’s the rule you agree with the most?: 'If you want to play one of the more exotic races or creatures, such as Golems, then you must contact the player who leads them or a Lore Master.' Coming from a server that had a very informal roleplay structure, you'd see all kinds of different races. Some people played their races well, most didn't, but this is a regulated form of RP'ing that I can appreciate.

What is roleplaying?: Essentially acting. To roleplay is to put yourself into a role of a character, usually your own, and act as them. In Minecraft, this is primarily through text and emotes.

What is metagaming?: Making decisions based on knowledge that your character can't possibly know, such as exactly what a certain trap will do and how it will be triggered, and how to counter it, without searching for the trap in anyway.

What is powergaming?: Forcing your actions, saying that you did something, period. No possibility of it being blocked, countered, dodged, or anything beyond reacting to the action.

 

In-Character Information

Now you actually make your character - be creative but stay reasonable! Make sure they make sense and that they follow lore. Try to come up with a character that you actually want to play.

 

Character’s name: Oan Frondson

Character’s gender: Male

Character’s age: Highlander Human

Biography  (Please make it a decent two paragraphs long. Remember to add server lore, and events that happened to your character so that they don’t contradict history.): Oan was born to Frond and Sara Thielson, who both lived in the Northern Mountains, where they owned a farm. He was the youngest of 4 children, with two older brothers and one older sister, all of whom were expected to help out on the farm, like most Highlander children. Their mother taught them about religion, but Oan was never terribly interested. That being said, his faith in what he's been taught is nigh unshakeable. Even though farming was dull to him, Oan had to pay attention, y'see, because their father was a crafty man. Each day, he expected the chores to be done, and whatever other jobs there might be, and if you didn't do them right, you did them again. Naturally, none of the kids wanted to spend their time working, so when showed something, they paid attention. When they did something, they did it right, and Oan eventually got to where he was a pretty fair hand at farming. Of course, their father didn't think they needed much teaching beyond the farm, that they didn't really need to know much about writing or about math beyond the basics. They were Highlanders, people of the land! Leave the fancy stuff to the Heartlanders, was his thinking. Indeed, what little they did learn was largely thanks to their mother. It's a simple story, really. Whenever the kids weren't working, the boys would sometimes head into the village, socialize with the other lads, wrestle and fight, and, on market days, they'd be loaded up and join the caravan from the village, which didn't warrant a trader visit, and head to the next town over, always a fun time for them, especially as they got older. Of course, with some things, there's nothing that can really be told with a story, only cultivated over time, such as perception and observance, or a sharp mind.

When Oan got to be about 21, he actually left the village, not necessarily for good, but he wanted to travel. He'd heard stories from the the town's bard, stories about elves and magic and exotic creatures and races, and he wanted to see if these stories were true for himself. His archery had improved, as had his tracking ability, and while they were nowhere near even an adept hunter's capacity, he felt ready to explore some on his own. And he did, if not for long. He found the Stone Road, and while traveling along it, he came on a group of Orc slavers. He slipped away, successfully, finding a tavern along the road. This is where he had his first brush with the reality of how inept his combat ability truly was, engaging in a bar brawl, in which a cudgel found his head and knocked him out. The monks of the Cloud Temple recovered him and he woke up, quite fine asides from a nasty bump that has yet to go down. Without them having gotten him, who knows what might have happened to him, where he might have wound up, and what he might be doing now...

Personality Traits: Bold, cocky, still at the age where he feels invincible. Sharp mind, long-winded, blunt at times, loud at times, loyal to friends that deserve loyalty, curious, will gladly help others, will intervene to help others in the event of a fight, vindictive to those that cross him. Doesn't let things go, usually, unless prompted by others. Get him drunk, though, and he becomes more reserved, more thoughtful, and really off-balance.

Ambitions: Find a craft, settle down, maybe with a wife and a few kids. Hasn't quite experienced enough of the world to really know what he wants to do with his life yet, so he's still ironing out things like what trade. Improve upon the skills he already knows.

Strengths/Talents: Knowledge of farm-working, fit from working on the farm, decent wrestler, learned a few odd tidbits about various trades and skills from his da, such things as which plants to eat, how to fish, basic skills that'd keep him from dying. Picks up quickly on things that he's shown, learns quickly about things that interest him. Voracious appetite for knowledge. Observant, usually. Decent archer. Not exceptional, but he can hit a stationary target at 30 or so paces about 7 times out of 10, on a good day. Strong-willed, although his da just called him pigheaded instead.

Weaknesses/Inabilities: Poor reading ability, basic arithmetic skills, untrained fighter, can't cook anything fancy. Gets tunnel vision when he starts working on something. Cannot, for the life of himself, make anything through metalworking. Also does not do terribly well with animals beyond dogs or the occasional cat.

Appearance (List the extra details of your characters appearance, IE; height & weight): About 5'10”, but he doesn't know it. Weighs roughly 169 pounds, as he only really started putting on muscle after he turned 18, and has averaged about 10 pounds a year in the past three years. That being said, he's a little bit bowed up, of course, but really he's actually quite lean, even wiry.
