More Archery Guards

Hello! I am Refino Pippans, I have a suggestion for Oren and that is Archery Guards or Units. The use of them is that they run around on rooftops to overlook the city and use towers to be able to spot criminals faster than normal guards on foot.

The Archers should use a bow, arrows and 1 iron sword each.

They shall be very agile, skilled jumpers and know the city inside out.

This seems like a good idea to me, a defensive line of hardened warriors backed up by the skills of a trained archer making defending much easier, with the ability to spot and take on opponents at a larger distance through the use of towers and the walls, will allow the defensive line to decimate or majorly damage any force that was not expecting/prepared for it.

If the guards where to expand their archery division, i would happily negotiate some cheaper prices on my arrows, bows and light armour for them.

@ Pholom ((The Oren Guard has archers anyway, and they do not exploit the PVP zones. So I doubt any new guards would, if instructed properly. Merely the presence of a highly-trained unit of archers would sway most petty criminal's resolve, which in a way, is a success on it's own, even if they never have to draw a arrow.))

Personally, i think it's a great idea. There's a Archery shop in Al'khazaar, perhaps you could work out a deal with the owner?

I just want to say thanks for all the input.

The archer shop isn't selling bows and arrows like you think, or at least when the latest time I was there. They are selling materials instead (Weird right?)

Anyways, The Archery guards shouldn't ONLY be looking out for criminals, they should be guarding the city from the undead/other nation we might be in war with.

I run the archery shop, The Open Quiver, i expanded not logn ago to sell other goods, sine there was little money to be had in just selling bows, leather and arrows, if i buy some other shop in Al'khazar the shop will once again be specialized into archery and the other to general goods.

But as i said in my previous statement, if they do decide to expand the archery unit i will help by negotiating a discount on my goods for guards, or maybe even a contract to supply goods as an official vendor to the army.

Archers are a invaluable resource adding another dimension to either attacking or defending and used correctly then can decide a battle long before the close combat fighting begins, so expanding the unit would be a logical idea, even if normal guards are given basic training with the 'elite' unit or such being creates that are more practiced at longer range combat. The same way guards may be trained in basic archery, archers will also need to be trained in basic combat to be able to protect them selves of act as a levy of close-combat soldiers.

I will be hopefully be widening the archer's soon, but I have a lot on my hands at the moment.
