Incubus 12 Share Posted July 20, 2015 It is assumed within the Church of Canon, the rightful church of the creator and so forth, that lying is bad thing. It is said that the almighty truth, known to us as the word of the creator, is the only truth and that all others are lies. That makes sense to Canonists and is the idea behind the faith. However, what about beyond religion? Gluttony harms yourself and can harm others who do not get that food, lust harms yourself and your mind, but what does lying do in its purest form? Lies can exist to trick and deceive, or they can exist to protect. If someone looks obese in their robes, well it means they were probably gluttonous, but most people say "You look great". That's a lie used for protection, not to harm or deceive. Lies can be like a large wall, protecting people from what is on the outside. Or lies can be worse than what the wall is protecting the person from. However, it is odd to say that Canonists have never lied and that if they have they regret it. Only heathens, such as most Uruks, feel remorse for making people feel better. There are sins you should feel remorse for, but lying for the protection of others is not one of them. And if you do feel remorse, ask yourself whether you must confess or live with it.
