What is roleplaying?

Role playing is exactly what the name is, playing or pretending to be a character/person with certain abilities and characteristics.

What is metagaming?

Metagaming is also exactly what the name says. Meta is a Greek prefix meaning beyond or after. In this case it means beyond. Basically metagaming is using knowledge that you as a person know, either by research or out of character talking, that your roleplaying persona doesn't know. This can ruin the authenticity of role-play.

What is power gaming?

Powergaming is when you work towards a certain goal to the extent where aspects such as roleplaying, story, lore, and ambience suffers. An example would be if I wanted the highest sword skill, I would grind all the time, ignoring interactions with other players.

Biography

Edward is a Male Heartlander of non-noble descent who has lived in the city of port Vydrik in Vanaheim with his parents, working as a simple fisherman with his father and now deceased brother until his 18th birthday, where he decided to join the navy of the reformed kingdom of Oran. After 3 years of hard work he has been content doing simple ship work and repairing boats. But now he hopes to get his own boat and become a captain, with the hopes of finding new land far off the coast the few people he has talked to about this idea think him crazy. he plans to accomplish this goal by recruiting the many desperate refugees as a form of cheap labor. He plans to create a new nation with the land he hopes to find so he can become as powerful and rich as the rest of his kin. But in the meantime he is looking to marry a local girl, and patiently (but actively) work towards his immense goal.

Can swim amazingly well, can build with wood and repair things from repairing ships, and has an aptitude for knowing the best fishing spots, sense he was a fisherman. Is proficient at sword on sword combat and bare knuckle brawling.

Weaknesses/inabilities

Has no skill in magic what so ever. Thinks that it is for "Nancy" elves that aren't man enough to fight. Tends to be quick to fight and burns many bridges that way. Because he is so good with a sword he has little training with a bow, and will outright refuse to use it.
