Prints In The Snow

Alliances had been made. Support had been bought. It seemed the advancing army had only a few of the faces that had participated in the coup many months ago.

But an army is an army, and this one was unified in purpose.

The first group to rally was that of the Hightower core. Humans sworn to serve the king of Salvus. Shields and other soldiers, they arrived first.

Then came the Kha, as others trickled in. Heavily armored and in numbers higher than many had ever seen before, they proved to be a signifigant portion of the force.

More and more arrived. Mali'ker with shaven heads and even a few of the snow elves, fighting in a zealous devotion to the women who had accompanied them.

When all had arrived, the host had a strength that could have stood in any number of the massive battles of history. With sharp weapons and confident hearts, they set off.

They later reached their goal, the icy outskirts of the Salvian state. Scouts rode ahead to seek out enemy numbers. Others stayed back and helped the rest don their gear.

Soon, the scouts returned with expressions half between amusement and skepticism. They all bore the same message.

"None."

The force looked onwards to the snowy plains. Many laughed at the apparent surrender. Others showed annoyance at the lack of violence. Then they marched.

Flooding the field of battle, it was captured in seconds. Not even a single trap was lain to bar passage. Even as they advanced into the outer city, not a single soul was discovered. Only dust and abandoned houses.

And so the battle ended. With no bodies in the field, or blood in the snow. No broken banners or flaming barricades adorned the terrain; merely the prints of an army unopposed.

Cheza kicks at the snow and whines like a child that had it's toy taken away.

"Stupid Salvians, couldn't even come to provide a little fun."
