hellfiazz 879 Share Posted September 13, 2015 (edited) Perhaps it was due to a sickly mother. Perhaps it was just bad luck. Perhaps still, it was the wrath of the Lord of Plagues, Orgon. No matter. All that did was that 6 great beasts now lay dead after many days of pain and suffering. At first it was just felt as lethargy among the Scaddernaks hatchlings. Then that lethargy became an inability to move altogether. As the sun rose each day, the hatchling’s health fell further. Their screeching cries of pain pierced the desert’s hot air, filling those who heard it not with the normal dread and terror felt when a Scaddernak was known to be near, but with a great sadness and despair. They began to waste away, from the twin fiends of hunger, as they could not eat, and the affliction itself, causing them to rot in their own carapaces while they still lived. The owners of the hatchlings sought help from many members of Orcish society. All manner of alchemists and shamans were brought in to inspect the Scaddernaks who did suffer. Most confirmed that their doom was inevitable. Those that said otherwise made attempts at a cure for whatever illness assailed the already large creatures, all of which failed. By the sixth day of the viral assault, the hatchlings’ shrieks became moans of tiredness, a tiredness of living in constant agony. By the seventh, they suffered in silence, with not even the energy to make a sound. After 8 torturous days, the Scaddernak hatchlings one by one finally came to rest. By that point the owners felt only relief after more than a week of great distress for both them and their Scaddernaks. Their lungs exhaled for the last time, and their limbs curled up around them as they lay on their backs.Only one had been unaffected by the infection. Gâdhm'Fiz, owned by Fizldank, was untouched by the plague, and continued on it’s slow growth towards the monstrous size for which Scaddernaks are so known.
