THE CURIA

 

The Curia is the essential administrative branch of the faith. The Holy See reserves the right to properly govern the churches affairs underneath the exalted Pontiff Everard II. The Curia, beyond domestic affairs, also dominates the preservation of the Canon and ensures the faiths growth into the lands of all the descendants. The Curia governs from a Holy Palantine, which is made at any given time, is made up of the Church’s granted and taken territories.

 

 

THE HIGH PONTIFF

The High Pontiff, successor to the High Priests of old, whom were intern the successor’s of the Prophet Owyn, is the anointed, undisputed, leader of the Canonist Church. The High Pontiff is elected by his choice of Pentarchs, whom gather to discuss and advise the Pontiff. He is elected upon death or abdication, and holds practically unparalleled power over the moral authority of the Church, and it’s Palantine.

 

 

THE CHAMBER OF THE CURIA

 

 

The chamber makes up the individual ranks and designations of prestige that those who serve the appointed Pontiff receive. The members of the Curia are entrusted with maintaining the See, members of the Curia can be removed and added at the whim of the Pontificate. All members of the Curia, besides the Commandant, are elevated to Monsignor upon appointment.

 

 

Vice-Chancellor - Monsignor Peredono of Valenza [Clegg]

The Vice-Chancellor is the chief minister of the Curia, and is responsible for the proper maintenance of Nunciatures and day-to-day governance of the Holy See. He is the chief assistant and right hand of the Holy Father, aiding in all his duties, and acting regent of the Church during periods of sede vacante.

 

Dean of the State - Vacant

The Dean of the State is the steward the Holy See, responsible for procuring resources and allocating tithes and taxes within the Palatinate and beyond. He oversees the economic and financial capabilities of the See, and its secular properties.

 

Auditor of the Tribunal - Monsignor Alec of Monteford [Octofishie]

The Auditor of the Tribunal is the justiciar of the Holy See, sworn to uphold the laws of the Canon and the Church. He is to deliberate and administer clerical judicial cases, command the Inquisition in routing heresy and apostasy, and codify secular law in the Holy Palatinate. The Auditor of the Tribunal enforces both Canon and secular law within the Holy Palatinate, and Canon law in foreign territories in which he is permitted to act.

 

Commandant of the Sepulchres - Vacant

The Commandant of the Sepulchres is foremost among the soldiery of the Palatinate, a chief military advisor and commander who is sworn to protect the Palatinate from incursion. He is responsible for training the local militias and, if need be, clergy, in times of war, whilst also defending the local populace from threats. He holds dominion over which Sepulchuric Order be belongs to (either the Apostolic Brotherhood or the Black Sepulchre) and has an advisory, supervising role over the other as to limit his power.

 

Secretariat of His Holiness - Monsignor Fabian of Abresi [VIROS]

The Secretariat of His Holiness is theological advisor and scribe to the High Pontiff. He is responsible for drafting Canon law and pontifical proclamations at the Holy Father’s discretion, and maintaining the Holy See’s legal and spiritual documents.

 

 

HELD PROVINCES

 

The Province of Visiga

First known by ‘Lesser Tarchary,’ Visiga extends from the ruined hovels of the Halflings, to Luciensport and beyond. Plans concerning the development of Luciensport into the bustling jewel of Visiga are consecrated and ready to be put into action, the numerous forts warding off Tarchar assaults are also garrisoned, leaving the province well equipped for growth. Visiga is the hub of the Holy See, and the ruling seat of the High Pontiff, which it will hopefully remain for years to come.

 

 

PONTIFICAL DIPLOMATIC CORE

 

In addition to the titles here, some members of the Diplomatic Corps will be accredited with a retinue of individuals with skills useful to the diplomat’s duties. Such an individual is referred to as an envoy.

 

Apostolic Nuncio

An apostolic nuncio is a permanent diplomat to a state from the Holy See. In addition to establishing diplomatic relations with a state, a Nuncio may also manage the relationship between the Holy See and Canonist citizens of a state with no diocese. Some Nuncios may serve as Chaplain to a head of state, or even on the advisory council of a sovereign.

PONTIFICAL HOUSEHOLD

 

Members of the Pontifical Household are granted honorary titles based on their commitment and service to the Curia. The titles hold largely ceremonial powers.

 

Apostolic Protonotary

The apostolic protonotary is the highest honorary title is awarded to priests of the Church who have done outstanding work in assisting the Curia. They are members of the Pontifical court, and often are retired chancellors of the Curia. They are addressed as Monsignor.

 

Domestic Prelate

The domestic prelature is awarded to priests of exceptional skill, upon performing feats of great measure and helping the Holy See and Curia. Domestic prelates serve as courtiers of the Pontifical court, and are usually given this position if the Chamber seat they would otherwise deserve is full, where they serve as an advisor and potential successor. They are addressed as Monsignor.

 

 

LAITY OF THE CURIA

 

The Laity of the Curia consists of lay groups or individuals whom are distinguished and noted by the Church for their exemplary service in promoting Church interests. Their duties and honors have been largely ceremonial in the past, but have become more prevalent under the tutelage of Everard II.

 

Order of the Holy Sepulchre

Membership within the Order of the Holy Sepulchre is a knighthood awarded by the High Pontiff, or his grandmasters, to those who provide exceptional service to the Holy See. The Commandant of the Guard is often inducted into the Order, and its members are referred to as Ser. The name harkens from an ancient order of wandering proselytizing templars, who preserved the ashen urns, or black sepulchres, of various martyrs and missionaries. The Holy Sepulchre is split between the North and South, consisting of the White and Black Sepulchres.
