The Hunters Code

A book would be discovered deep in the Iron Uzg's library. It is simple in appearance, and the more learned Orcs can decipher it dates back to the days of Krug. Rumours have stated its author, was the great hunter Lur himself.

-The Hunters Code-

  • Hunting worthy Game: When hunting, the hunter must be sure that his prey is considered game, and lawful to kill. Worthy game must fill the following criteria: Can defend itself and/or is able to kill the hunter himself, of age (killing children and the elderly is considered the height of dishonour) not linked to other lives (so that removing the prey will not doom another, e.g. pregnant females), one who is struck with diseases.

  • Failing in the Hunt: Should the hunter fail, they must make a public display of their shame (removal of tusks or hair, etc.) and must pay recompense to the prey should it be 'people' rather than 'animal'.

  • Claiming the kill of another HunterTo take the Trophy of another Orc, living or dead, is considered to be a great insult.  This is the most embarrassing crime, and yet the hardest to prove.

  • Hunting of another Orc: Unless given express permission by the Rex, this is strictly forbidden.

  • Never harm the innocent: Those who have done no harm should have no harm done to them.

  • Hunting for Food: When hunting for food, take only the weak. This is to purify the species' line.

  • Wounded Game: When coming upon game wounded by another hunter, and the animal or person is dying without sport, show honour to another's kill. If the game still shows sport, it is to be joint trophy.

  • Joining another Hunt:  Do not join another's Hunt, or Hunt in their territory, without their permission. All trophies taken by this manner are stolen trophies, and shall be dealt with by the rightful owner.

  • Mercy: Those who defeat you in a fair Hunt and show you mercy henceforth become your equals, and shall be treated with respect.

  • Code Violations: Those who break the code are Whitewashes, and no longer considered to be an Orc. They are to be destroyed when encountered.

Unless this is an OOC guideline, I find the last bit of this 'worthy game' guideline to be a bit...Loose? Any person could say "I don't want to be hunted!" and that's that! On that note, I've never seen prey that /wants/ to be hunted. Good Code, though!
