Definitions:

 

What is roleplaying?: Playing as or pretending to be someone else, in an imaginary scenario with imaginary settings

What is metagaming?: Taking advantage of information learned OOC and using it IC. For example, learning information through OOC chat and using it in your RP, or acting on information you learned while a wandering soul. If you didn't learn it through roleplay, or you learned it and then died, your character should NOT have access to that knowledge or experience.

What is powergaming?: Forcing actions on another player in roleplay, i.e. not emoting your preparation actions for an assassination attempt.

Biography:

Lan was found living alone on the streets of Felsen as a child by Maccus Callahan, who took him in and gave him a bed and food. As Maccus and he began traveling together, Maccus claimed Lan to be his brother, and he was adopted into the Callahan family. As Maccus remained in Felsen to serve as city guard, Lan headed outside the city to explore what the world had to offer and perhaps learn the secret of his heritage. He visited places such as Adria, the lands of the High elves, and the vicious Orcish territory. After watching bandits perform terrible acts of violence when they could have just taken what they wanted, Lan resolved to never again stand idle, for he realized that not all evil wore such inhuman faces as Iblees and the undead told about in stories. As a young man he developed a fiery passion for the pursuit of justice.

Lan's adventures left him with the ability to hold his own with all but the most skilled of fighters, and a certain competency for travel and many trade skills. When he returned to his brother in Felsen much had changed, but he tried to settle into a new life, learning the new ropes of the city and its new people. Despite his best efforts, he found it difficult to resettle after so much time exploring. A God's man, he regularly attended the church in Felsen, but consistently saw what he believed to be hypocrisy in the actions of those who claimed to be just and true. After Oliver's death it was a bad time to be supporters of house Sevoie, such as his brother, so the Callahans moved to the newly started county of Carnith held by prince Gereon. 

Personality Traits: Impatient with inaction, but level-headed when it's important. A very difficult person to get along with if you don't know him well; he is very close with those whom he has known for a long time.

Ambitions: To honor his family, especially Maccus, by fighting evil wherever it is found. The question of his heritage is still unresolved, though he considers the Callahans closer than any blood relations he may one day find.

Strengths/Talents: Skilled fighter, knowledgeable about places he's visited and capable of thinking his way out of bad situations.

Weaknesses/Inabilities: A strong moral code developed on his adventures makes it difficult for him to do the dirty work or break the law, even when necessary. Impatient and flighty, uncomfortable doing easy labor for long periods of time, would rather be breaking his back with work for a couple hours than doing easy work for twice as long. Is often judgmental and can't always restrain himself from trying to "fix" others.
