For those of you who may not know me, I am Froggo Meesas (Wandering soul at the moment, trying to get accepted into Aegis). When I do enter, I will be happy to serve for the elven militia!

OOC: I am currently not a member of the game so I do not know the full extent of your military issues, but during the Roman Empire the leader of the towns led their own armies to battle and defended themselves and what you guys sound like your doing to taking volunteers which are already spread thin throughout the realm and calling them one army. My advise would be to force your citizens into joining a town militia and only have them fight when your town is being raided. the few volunteers that you might get from your town you place them simply as patrols to warn of an attack and to call the militia. You don't need a whole legion guarding the walls just one or two people to sounds the alarm. As for your main army as you have been using as a guard should be used as a administer of the militia during peace and used to conquer during war.

I am sorry that I spoke out of turn and I will rewrite this if it makes no sense

(( Forcing people into recruiting? That would be powergaming on Elves part,

forcing someone to RP how you want. ))

Hi i have yet to start playing LoTC due to some problems, but surely for elves the guards of a city are also its army? Elves aren't tradionatlly a agressive military force, so the need for a standing army is sort of pointless? Guards in a city makes sense, 40 guards is a good sized force for the city, but also would it be possible for say 2/3 gaurds to be posted in other cities belonging to say humans and other races. This way you can summon allies when needed to defend the city against undead? Just a thought, by the way when i join i will be an elf and would be more than willing to join the guard/milita/army what ever it maybe. The question of forcing people to fight in the army is a good one normanly due in RP terms its not really acceptable as it forces people into doing somthing that their character may not be used to, would you have a farmer or merchant fight? No it doesn't suit their character. Hope my points have been of some use.
