What is roleplaying?: Roleplaying is the act of playing a role of a character within a context of lore.

What is metagaming?: Metagaming is exposing information to certain factions (or single players) about information they shouldn't know about yet OOC. Example: Team A is at war with Team B, Team C is neutral. Team C then goes to Team A OOC to tell them that Team B is about to raid them.

What is powergaming?:  Power-gaming (in RP), is to preset your characters stats in order to be the most power in the game. This can go as wide as race to size. 

 

In-Character Information

Now you actually make your character - be creative but stay reasonable! Make sure they make sense and that they follow lore. Try to come up with a character that you actually want to play.

 

Character’s name: Jonathan Hailsman

Character’s sex: Male

Character’s race: Human

Character’s age: 23

Biography  (Please make it a decent two paragraphs long. Remember to add server lore, and events that happened to your character so that they don’t contradict history.):

         Jonathan Hailsman has grown up running about The Fringe, while his father, Kyle Hailsman, adventured out to find out the deepest mysteries of the four corners. Following his path, Jonathan soon started to find and treasure his own scavenged items. By the age 16 he was equipped with a rag-tag backpack, full of goods, and a scavenged warriors blade.

        This is when Kyle, his father, had plummeted to his death while escaping unknown beast. Jonathan was left alone, being the last Hailsman to walk among The Fringe. To this day he still carries his scavenged blade, though he was upgraded his equipment. Jonathan goes about exploring finding loot and selling anything he can find to make it by, making friends on his way. 

 

Personality Traits: Humorous, disorganized, friendly, adventurous, fearless (except of heights), and a quick-thinker  

Ambitions: To be the next great Rune and Relic finder

Strengths/Talents: He has become talented with small blades through his adventures and has a small build which allows him to be swift.

Weaknesses/Inabilities: His fear of heights has limited his ambitions and he can be put off task.

Appearance (List the extra details of your characters appearance, IE; height & weight): Height: 5'11 Weight: 140, stubble beard, green eyes, white straight teeth, small - medium build.

-Your meta-gaming information... isnt exactly correct, the example doesnt work out.

 

-Your power-gaming definition is incorrect.

 

-Your character's biography just starts out that he's out 'n about, not saying where he was born, or anything about his past.

 

-The fringe was abandoned over 70 years ago in character. I'd suggest taking a look at some of the more recent lore pages, such as that of Vailor, or Athera.

 

-You specifically leave out information, which counters the purpose of writing an bigoraphy for your character.
