Booklight12 481 Share Posted March 2, 2016 An old parchment is pinned against the bark of a tree before the Celein Institute of Magic and Technology a roll of paper pinned just below it with a rusted nail which leads to a simple looking wooden. Box dug slightly into the ground. Upon the scrawling text coming out of the pages of a scholar it states ------- Tribal Excision By Beranabus Seregon “Cultures, people, and different dialects are spread all throughout our realm of Vailor, and even more so in our very plane of existence, however there seems to be a coming of change in these more modern times. Nations are beginning to spring up as sudden as geysers relative to the centuries I and many of us have lived. As more people with common interest and ideals merge together to form these pseudo-nations. Though, as the pace of these nations appear to be decreasing it raises a rather ***** question. This question is simply put, where have most tribes of people seemingly disappeared from our realm? There can be a plethora of hypotheses as to why this is the case, however the very question raises true, as the only tribe which we may truly look at closely are the children of Krug, indeed they may be considered to be a tribe as they seem relatively ‘tribal’ by many descendant standards. However, this may be true and they appear to be tribal subject to the observer they by definition would resemble more in terms of a nation. The ‘hordes’ of krug have their own military, have a leader, have a central city or goi in which copious amounts of people congregate as well as an economic system and routes, which they use to trade with the other nations of Vailor. To truly continue we must first get into the meanings behind these words to detail the contrasts between both Nation and Tribe. A tribe is composed of people whose main identity and authority rests upon immediate genealogy relationship. A nation is a composition of people whose identity and authority rests on ideals separate from genealogy and these ideals are recognizable and respected by other large groups of people. A nation is recognized by land boundaries (or over a group of people) governed by a defined authority who have supremacy of all laws. If the defined authority ceases to have supremacy of all laws the nation ceases to exist. By these clear cut definitions the hordes of Krug fit into both categories, having aspects of clans, and familial ties within the government. However, the nation of Krug grants leadership in a way that is not based on bloodline, but instead the most powerful of the urukai becomes the leader. Only if they are defeated in challenged combat that they accept will they be taken down from power whilst still remaining respected. As well, the nation of Krug holds vast and clearcut land that is defined on the map of Vailor instead of a loose amalgamation of separate tribes like it had been in ages past. All together proving the shift in the way we have in the millennia we as descendants of the four have grown as a people. However, this still begs the question as to why we have shifted from tribes to nations instead of remaining as tribes and bands of people. Now there are many theories folk have though, I as a scholar believe the most acceptable is infact the simplest. To put it frankly as we have whilst we discover ruins and numerous past civilizations from each land we nomadic people have travelled to. Each holds secrets of past civilizations and tribes which have long since passed from their realm to the next due to different planar shifting events. Shown even in the days of ol’ in Aegis when a being of immense power wages war upon the living beings of a land, people in short die. However, oft times as shown in our people's history the people must fight back these opposing factions, beings, and so forth. To do so, the defending faction or even the attacking faction must rally people, and band people together. Which turns tribe to city, and city to nations. In short, war is what has required nations to be formed instead of tribes, as the much smaller and weaker tribes simply get defeated and absorbed into bigger nations which get bigger and bigger. In short, the most saddening truth to this is that the strong survive and the weak fall, which is most depressing but true in what I have found in my studies to formulate this theory. Now, I ask you the reader of this to perhaps question and possibly improve upon this theory, and if you have any theories of your own upon this topic to please write below. I thank you for your time and look forward to what responses I may acquire. Feel free to put your theorems in the box below, and feel free to leave your name to be contacted later or but contact myself for more information upon the topic.” ----------
