The forging of a Seed

A group of Torena men stand around a cove, standing in thought of their gift to the King Of the Dominion for the upcoming seed Ennoblement ceremony.

A taller, red haired ‘Ame stands bare foot in the sand, his hair swaying into his face. His voice hoarse and confident. “How about we create a trident? Not just any trident, one of special material” The others nodded though another. A brown haired man adds in, it being Yelfir “And what material might that be Ravondir?”

The seed members thought hard, until one had remembered something. The someone would have been the Chief of the Seed, his beard swaying in the salty air, he told them a tale of long ago, one that he had heard at his arrival in Vailor.

Years and years ago, an elf by the name of Tayui can to Vailor with a band of men, they mined resources, those new to the Athera kind. They pack the boat after collecting what mainly was a strong, aqua colored metal in which they were going to transport back to Vailor, though there was a quite greedy human, one greedier than a dwarf some could say, he wanted the load and all of the coin they got. He set to burn the ship, which he did by lighting a fire in the middle of the night, all the crew members jumped from the boat he did so as well, but he waited until morn on a piece of debris and to his surprise the ship was gone, nothing to be seen but bits of wood floating. Deep on the ocean floor lay the contents of the boat, shimmering as the color of the ocean this metal, the greedy man could not find it, nor tried. He floated away and until he was found washed up when the Atherians came to Vailor. Story is told that the metal still lays on the ocean floor of Vailor, near the island of Laureh’lin.

After the group had heard their leader tell the story they set out to gather all the things needed that they would use to find this metal they needed for their trident.

Damai and Yelfir strolled together towards the site on the other side of the island, they took their Sirame garments off, and proceeded into the water, about twenty metres out, Yelfir swam under the water, going down for as long as he could. He spotted a small cave entry and re-surfaced to tell Damai. They went down and found themselves in a cave which had a strong current leading up towards an island inside, and air pocket over it. There were a few sacks, which were ragged and old.

The pair opened them to find chunks of the metal they were looking for. They tried swimming back up through the current with the heavy bags, one between both, they had to wait until the tide had gone back out to swim out again, one by one they got 5 sacks of the metal. More than likely enough.

The others, Ravondir, Narmir and Lindrael were in the forge and collecting the finest wood they could, before shaping it into a shaft for the trident. When Damai and Yelfir travelled back to the forge with the metal Narmir got to smelting it into longer rectangles, before Ravondir hammered it into shape, repeating the process thrice. They then capped the shaft with steel and hammered the throngs together into the shape of a trident now going to slide it onto the shaft, fusing the bottom together with the steel.

The trident was complete, the shaft with patterns of leaves a vines carved into it, the right prong of the trident engraved with the Torena symbol, marking it as a creation of theirs.

Damai stood back, looking at the piece “Now for a name” He exclaimed, his hand rising to stroke his beard in thought

Yelfir speaks to the group “Torena Trident.” He shrugs, knowing what they are thinking

Lindrael peeps in “The Ocean’s Trio?” All the men nodded in agreement, before wrapping it in cloth and storing it in Damai’s tailors
