Bounty on Piracy

Kardel

Recommended Posts

Kardel looked forward, his eyes jittering across the horizon. Sea. Waves, rising and falling as if pushed forward by the heaving chest of a giant beneath the water expanse dominating the horizon. Foam. Yet no metal, no wood, no steam.

The serenity of the ocean was broken by a roar of rage, almost animal like, cracking at its end. Kardel kicked a nearby barrel, spilling its contents of fish and scallops all over the cracking concrete of the Port of Ithrun, much to the distress of a nearby fisherman who dared not protest. HowWhy. Such were questions that had been left unanswered by the thief. Little clues, less sense.

A steamship had been stolen, a particularly new one, lacking a crew to fill its engines with coal. Its novelty was its vulnerability. There had obviously been treason to accompany the robbing of the ship, for how else would someone be able to move a steamer? How might one move such a vessel had they not been a dwarf?

"Post a fecken bounty, ye useless sack o' shoite! 'ad ye patrolled more often, been mure active, MATTERED more, ye woul'da focken prevented dis! Ah ought tae ax' ye an' skin ye!"

"It will be done, Grand Keng. Ah apologoise fe-"

"APOLOGOIZE? Ye cannae feckin' apologoize!"

The pale dwarf turned to face the head of his personal guard, a figure clad in black iron with a crest of metallic bristles signifying his rank as First Cohort. The old king spoke, his lips moving slowly and the message he aimed to deliver relayed crisply, as if through the ancient dwarf's teeth, with a spite unusual of the King.

"Bind stones tae 'is feet. Cast 'im off o' da 'arbor."

And so ended the life of that second cohort stoneguard who had failed to carry out his patrol duties.

Around Urguan and the cloud temple, posters printed with good, non-flaking ink are nailed by metallic bolts to available surfaces.

BOUNTY

Upon this unfortunate day, pirates have encroached upon the maritime domains of Urguan and have stolen the standard design Steamship known as Grimdugan's Wave. The ship is of moderate length, with three chimneys, two lesser and one greater, and two mills. A reward of 1000 minae shall be bestowed upon him who finds the culprit and returns him to the Grand Kingdom of Urguan for trial. A reward of 200 minae shall go to him who has the location of the boat.

Any steamship not expressly in Urguanian lands is fit for suspicion.

Contact the offices of the Grand King personally for reward.
