An Ending

The sky glistened with what seemed like a billion dulled stars above as Fawynn sat on the crumbled stone. Her business was done, she was ready to move on. Caern was happy. Kuro was dead. She wasn’t needed in Laureh’lin anymore. Her group of ghosts would continue without her, or dissipate as they all moved on. Her business was done.

Briefly, only briefly, she considered going out to say her goodbyes. She had Ayche, who would convince her to stay, Caern who lived in Laureh’lin, and Ruyvesa who she hadn’t seen in years. She stood up, starting towards the massive, thrumming portal that would take her out of the abyss. She stepped though, and was met by the keystones among the mountains and trees. She wondered where she would go, she was never a good aspectist. Or a good person, at times.

She took one of the keystones, immediately heading to the cloud temple from there. She should have someone write letters for her, preferably the one she got to help her.

The spectral woman approached a human woman, and though she wasn’t able to help she wrote the letters for her. She left for the boats, carrying the letters the former mali’ame sent to her loved ones. Her throat and chest tightened and her eyes watered, but there was an eagerness, a strange excitement. She departed for Haelun'or, her mind drifting years back to a green canopy and days filled with laughter and joy. They were gone now, and though the man who had stolen them was gone she knew they would never come back.

All she could do was remember, as she made her way towards the clerical outpost.

She wondered, would they miss her? And she quickly decided, yes. They would.

Did she regret anything? No. She didn’t.

((You should be getting a letter, if she sent one to you.))
