Hiebe 2493 Share Posted October 6, 2011 97 for the Prince!
pi4t 6 Author Share Posted October 6, 2011 Great idea. I'm sure the Prince is sitting comfortably at home, rather than fighting in the nearby battle.97 Ahead of you, you can see a fierce battle raging across a stone bridge. The clash of steel and the cries of men and beasts echo through the forest. In the midst of the fighting, you see Prince Pelathar, the King's son. He is in combat with a large grey Gourgaz who is wielding a black axe above his scaly head. Suddenly, the Prince falls wounded—a black arrow in his side. If you wish to defend the fallen Prince, turn to 255. If you wish to run into the forest, turn to 306. Well, good work, guys. Not a pleasant situation to be in. So, fight the monstrous gourgaz and probably die, or run into the forest, making ourselves an easy target, and possibly be labelled a traitor by the King, and probably die? pi4t 6 Author Share Posted October 7, 2011 255 The creature that you now face is a Gourgaz, one of a race of cold-blooded reptilian creatures that dwell deep in the treacherous Maakenmire swamps. Their favourite food is human flesh! The Prince's Sword lies at your feet. You may pick up and use this weapon if you wish. The Gourgaz is about to strike at you—you must fight him to the death. Gourgaz: COMBAT SKILL 20 ENDURANCE 30 This creature is immune to Mindblast. If you win, turn to 82. Er...Oh dear. Tell me if you want us to take the sword, and if so, what to drop in its favour. It doesn't affect this fight, though, so let's start. CR = 14-20 = -6 Our E total = 16/22 Gourgaz's E total = 30/30 Oh dear. It outmatches us in every possible way. On the other hand, the combat results table is skewed in our favour (CR-4 with equal Es is about a fair fight). Can our luck see us through? Round 1 Random number = 5 We take 4 damage = 12/22 Gourgaz takes 4 damage = 26/30 Round 2 Random number = 7 We take 3 damage = 9/22 Gourgaz takes 6 damage = 20/30 Round 3 Random number = 8 We take 2 damage = 7/22 Gourgaz takes 7 damage = 13/30 Round 4 Random number = 7 We take 3 damage = 4/22 Gourgaz takes 6 damage = 7/30 Come on, come on... Round 5 Random number = 8 We take 2 damage = 2/22 Gourgaz takes 7 damage = DEAD! Our final E total = 2/22 Wow, we survived? 82 The giant Gourgaz lies dead at your feet. His evil followers hiss at you and then fall back from the bridge. The Prince's soldiers form a protective wall around you and their dying leader with their shields. Black arrows whistle past your head. The dying Prince looks up into your eyes and says, ‘Kai Lord, you must take a message to my father. The enemy is too strong, we cannot hold him. The King must seek that which is in Durenor or all is lost. Take my horse and ride for the capital. May the luck of the gods ride with you.’ You bid a sad farewell to the Prince, mount his white steed and head south along the forest path. The battle still rages behind you as the Prince's men fight off another assault on the bridge. Turn to 235. Wait, we went through all that and he died on us? Typical. 235 The Prince's horse is indeed a magnificent animal, fast and sure of foot. You gallop along the twisting track as if it were a straight highway, until the noise of battle has disappeared far behind you. You are hungry and must eat a Meal during your ride. After several miles, the path stops abruptly at a junction. There is a signpost, but it has been hacked down. If you wish to use your Kai Discipline of Tracking, turn to 254. If you wish to turn left, go to 32. If you wish to turn right, go to 146. Great, a random choice.
pi4t 6 Author Share Posted October 8, 2011 32 You have ridden about three miles when, in the distance, you spot the unmistakable silhouette of five large Doomwolves. Riding on their backs are Giaks. They seem to be going on ahead to where the path leads down into an open meadow. Suddenly, one of the Giaks leaves the others and begins to ride back along the path towards you. If you wish to hide in the undergrowth and let him pass, turn to 176. If you wish to fight him, turn to 340. So what do we do here?
Auron 0 Share Posted October 8, 2011 Hide in the undergrowth on our giant warhorse because thats completely logical.

pi4t 6 Author Share Posted October 9, 2011 It's thick undergrowth, OK? Seriously, though, I never noticed that! Keep forgetting you have a horse at this point in the adventure. 176 You hide behind some thick bushes so that the Doomwolf and its rider will not see your white horse. Luckily it works—the beast lopes past and vanishes down the track that you have just come along. If you wish to attack the remaining Doomwolves and their riders, turn to 253. If you wish to press on deeper into the forest, turn to 126. Well, to be fair giaks aren't known for their intelligence... What next?

pi4t 6 Author Share Posted October 10, 2011 126 You ride deeper and deeper into the forest. Silently you thank the Prince for such a fine horse, for although the ground is a tangle of briars and roots, he never once falters. The Doomwolves are soon left far behind and you bring your horse to a halt. The light has faded fast and it is almost night. If you wish to press on ahead, turn to 46. If you wish to bear left (the same direction as the path you left far behind) then turn to 143. I'm fairly sure I could make something of the 'A horse, a horse, my kingdom for a horse' quote here, but I can't think what, so I'll just ask what we're doing next.
